Guardiola and Klopp's understanding of the each other’s strengths began in the Bundesliga in 2013/14; and its effects are still being played out today in the Premier League.

True
LOL facts
Watching videos on Klopp's tactics got my semi pro team a double promotion. I used a high-pressing 4-3-3 with counter mentality and specifically closing down opposition defenders. We didn't win on possession but led on key passes constantly. My wingers and false 9 tore teams apart.
Watching videos on Guardiola got mine from midtable League One to Relegation in the Premier League
Hahaha I know you commented this two months ago but I'm a cafe watching these and just having that burning withdrawal symptoms from my fm save
This video made me feel like watching a classic action movie where the protagonist and antagonist know each other and are giving each other equal competition..... Well done tifo..... You guys should consider making a movie and please keep making more of such vs tactical movies...

Baron Ang look at the squad Guardiola had and look at the squad mourniho had . Kloop built team with passion . Guardiola take all the world class player . Even Zidane has more champions league title than Guardiola in his 3 year career
And how much titles has Guardiola won in his entire career? More than mourinho and a lot more than Klopp.. so until they reach the same numbers as him they can’t be compared to him
These two managers will go down in history as great friendly rivals. Honestly its beautiful and 20 years on we will all look back and cherish their battles.
Wouldn't be surprised if coaches watch this channel for tactical knowledge.
I would 😂
Guilty
There are so many cultural similarities between Dortmund and Liverpool, it's no surprise Klopp has found his feet and pushed the reds to fight against the best and win.
Nicholas Watts *lose*
Yeah like neither won any significant trophies!!
@@anandchowdhury9262 he won the bundesliga two years in a row
Yes they both dont win much trophies, they both go to ucl finals just to lose.
@McNugget Fan they can be from different countries but they were influnced by the same manager and built up their tactics according to his. Arrigo Sacchi :)
Nobody understands how good Klopp actually is. Yes he lost a ton of finals but damn I love his style and really hope they win something this year in 2018.
yep the best manager in my opinion who could make a mediocre team into world beaters, deserves all the credit.
Now he got CL hahaaa

I love when tactics clashed into a stalemate, which means it's the players and their micro-decisions who will make the difference!
The Best, most friendly, most healthy, very professional managerial rivalry in football, I love them both.
Watching this video after the 2-2 Liverpool city match in 2022. Both the teams played extensively to attack and struck balance between ball and space. Goes to show how equal both of these managers are.
I love these battle of tactics videos!
not only is tifo's content non biased and great, the comment section is one of the best, non toxic fans wanting to learn about the game
Love those to managers. They can yell at each other very passionately and then laugh and hug it out. So much respect for each other. Two of the greats!!!
A healthy rivalry between these two, just two pure football geniuses, no press gimmicks like Mourinho and Pep
I saw Klopp's Liverpool many times last season... when they are up against small weak teams, they intentionally lost the ball and let those team possessed the balls for a few seconds (6 to 12 seconds) then they instantly pressed and rob or steals the ball and swiftly send the balls towards the box for Firmino or upwards into the left or right channels for Mane & Salah to score goals and wreck havoc. It disguised the fact that they were doing a very good job without the ball, while relentlessly doing this they increase the REPOSSESSION (not possession) of the balls so many times making the opponents exhausted just by losing the balls, it was effective football
While Guardiola's City focused more on possession football, moving the balls and forcing their opponents where Pep wanted them to be in their own half. Their most important player was David Silva and Bernardo Silva or Kevin De Bruyne when he was fit. Sometimes opponent does not realized how the 2 Silvas dropping off was vital in City pass and move sequence play. So normally opponent's midfield & strikers does not realized they are moving or dropping off just to receive the ball and start the attacks from the back, it is so dangerous that 10 to 20 seconds later the Silvas are now on top of the opponent's penalty area
City lost to Liverpool in the 2017/18 QF Champions League just like what happened when those 2 first met when managing Bayern & Dortmund, Liverpool waited for City to make a mistake with a loose pass, robbed the ball and swiftly scored.
Just like what you explained the only way to stop Klopp's geggenpressing tactic was Pep reducing City normally relentless passing tactic in order to reduce mistakes from any loose pass and defend in lower block, resulting in a stalemate... it actually turned into a game of click baiting meaning who have the ball more will make more mistake and the team who stole and robbed the ball more wins... they were turning into a Mourinho
You see soccer or football like I do
I learn if a team has high quality of pacey players control the game by sitting deep in the back and counter attack or control the game by possession and maybe do thru balls passes and if you have a high quality of players control the ball by playing simple soccer or football or possession with fast passing and more thru balls or shooting on target from outside the box and controlling the ball with cheeky passes
Great analysis!
As i said earlier too, it was a classic stalemate between possession and space, proper mental battle and i would still say a great tactical advertisement for premier league football
@McNugget Fan that's not a great tactical anything. Now shut your stupid mouth
@McNugget Fan what the fuck does that mean? Beside all english team for both europa and ucl this year

Yes
A little too early for that. Arsenal have been in great form but they are yet to be tested. If I was an Arsenal fan, I would have been happy with the minimal media attention they've received despite their winning run.
@@siu281 Fair play! Perhaps after a season in which they accomplish something there might be more grounds on which to base such analysis. They'll probably have to slay some big boys first, too.
Or you can just watch nouman's video
You do the best tactical breakdowns of anyone I know, on or off of CZcams, very clear and well broken down, you make it easy to understand, keep up the good work
This is one of your best videos to date! Just incredible how much insight you have to the game.
The amount of research that goes into your videos is just commendable. Keep it up!
one of the best youtube videos i have ever seen, short and super on point. and so well explained! great job.
I've been watching these for a while and have to say the illustrations are absolute class 🙌 they add so much to the experience of watching these tactical breakdowns
Pep runs a gassed up basketball zone where players defend space as opposed to the ball. Klopp's offense is all built around attacking space, which is how you break zones in basketball. Quick ball movement, attacking seams, draw multiple defenders and distribute to open players. FAR more difficult to do that in football, but that's what makes these guys an interesting matchup.
Trying to not homer, but it's a lot like the UConn vs. Syracuse basketball games of the 90s. Boeheim/Syracuse's zone and posession offense v. Calhoun/Connecticut's high pressure man/run and gun offense.
It's fun.
I read once that Guardiola fears only 3 managers people in football
Klopp - because he has so often been Pep's kryptonite, someone who he cannot consistently defeat
Bielsa - because he is the manager he most admires and learned from, and therefore is probably the only man in football who can fully understand Pep's thinking and out think him
Poch - because he too takes a lot of his ideas and tactics from Bielsa and so he also understands how to play and defeat Pep.
However he also respects all of them as managers.
What about Mourinho?
Excellent video, Tifo Football !!! One of the best videos I've watched in a while. Keep going ❤️💚
Man I love these videos. They’re very in-depth. Keep up the good work.
This is such a brilliant breakdown of the tactics over multiple years of head to head match-ups. Very well analyzed and explained, and the graphics really do a good job of assisting without distracting. Great work!
Love the title *Possession vs Space*
Actually pep is about possession and space so it doesn’t really work
@@slaphead6767 Every team is about Possession and Space, those are the fundamentals of football
Miguel Pereira wouldn’t say possession but space yes.
Paul Pogba works because both Liverpool and city do both, but one team is better at 1 aspect while one is better at the other.
Fascinating video. The mutual respect and understanding Pep and Klopp clearly have for each other is inspiring really.
Lovely video!♥️
The animations (particularly, gotze refusing to celebrate) is class!
The explanations and the the content is awesome!💯
I absolutely love your content. Always top notch stuff
Mi truly believe Pep has evolved as a coach amazingly even tho he couldn't win UCL in last 8 years . If you look at his game plan at Barca ,he created a team that opponents liked , at Bayern he wasn't succesful for the UCL campaign but still he provided a vision to the team n they still appreciate him. At city , he revamped them . City's not just about Possession but pace too , city doesn't rely on one system but pep created a dynamic one. To win a UCL , u need a lot more than tactics n mind. That luck part is missing with Pep lately , u see Klopp won against Barca which let them win ucl imo , same Barca under Pep wouldn't have bottled the lead at all . Zidane won 3 UCLs with Madrid in a row but all the 3 came from different kinds of luck ,either we call it bad referee decision or whatever ( his first spell was dope) .
What a video. Tactical. Narrative. Historical. Dramatic. Y’all are the best Tifo. Thank you for blessing the world with your creative tactical awareness, analysis, and visuals.
Fell in love with these graphics. Beautiful. Also the info is succinct and engaging.
I love your Liverpool videos! Edit: btw I would love some videos which take a team and looks at X big name manager from its past and looks at when they came in who they had how they wanted to manage and how/who they chose to get rid of and pick up. then follow the signings of their stint and do the same for the next manager etc until its the present. Would be really long potentially would have to do multiple videos, but would be really interesting to watch each team develop. This is one of my favorite channels and I am not alone when I say I really appreciate all the work that goes into your content. Keep it up and hopefully continue to keep growing!
beautiful graphics, great languge, very informative! thank you
I noticed TIFO no longer ask us questions in the comments section but no matter. I won't think the worst. Anyway, I remember from the Luis Figo video you guys mentioned that "Alfredo di Stefano is another ghost of Real-Barcelona transfer sagas past." Could we get a 'Brief History Of' of that?
Especially now with Neymar - Madrid rumors can become real. I heard PSG want to sell high, because they believe they found their star in Mbappe.
i love this channel, love the content and your calm voice!

Great video again. Two world class managers who are leaving the rest of the Premier League in their dust.

When games are "bigged up" for how amazing the two teams are in attack a lot, the matches often seem to end in nil nil draws.
Your analysis is also well balanced. Great work again

Excellent video again, please do one on bielsa’s Leeds.☝🏿
yes ditto this, leeds please
Please do this, even if you have to wait until the end of the season to know if Bielsa's tactics ultimately result in Leeds making their long awaited return to England's top flight
Yes, I would love to see that . I hope they do
Thanks for this comprehensive analysis!!
Beautiful Tifo, that’s the way it often plays out between two normally attacking sides. That’s why they often become dependent on the midfield duels. Vice versa also applies. Atlético vs Juventus would be anticipated as a stale attacking match, but in actuality both teams would likely emerge on the front foot, and give a very open game
Im always exicited seeing klopp.
He brings energy to the squad.

Hey man, great video. Just wanted to point out a date error at 4:01 where it says (and you say) January 2018 and October 2019, that would be two games in two different seasons. Not to mention that October 2019 hasn't happened yet, 11 months after you posted this lol. I'm sure you meant the other way around with the years. Cheers.
just love the illustrations.... great analysis too
brilliant stuff again!
Great video, Just wanted to say that you put October 2019 instead of 18 at 4:17
Great Video, one important point I feel you might have missed though is , the 0-0 match was after a series of packed matches in both CL and carling cup for liverpool playing many tough teams...I feel Liverpools decision to sit back was also largely influenced by the fact that they were incredibly tired.
I'm a City guy and Pep, so far has done amazing things to turn Man City around. But I am a fan of Klopp. Even though I like Klopp more than Pep, I think City would not be at the level they are if Klopp came to City instead of Pep. Pep was always great at being the bad guy in order to see prosperity within his club. Sterling, De Bruyne and Walker became crucial elements for City. Even though I love Hart and Toure, it was best for the team for them to leave. Hopefully, Jesus and Mahrez can become great players for City, because right now I see them slowing us down.
Yeah, I noticed that those two are slowing us down too. Maybe if Pep helps Jesus and Mahrez improve their game a little just like he did with Sterling, they'll become even better.
Great video! Very insightful

Fantastic job Tifo team! I just want to point out: the table at 3:53 shows Liverpool - City October 2019 instead of October 2018.

These videos are brilliant!
Great content. Subbed
I'm seconding on a video about Lucien Favre's style at Dortmund this season. Favre has an interesting thing going on playing conservatively in the first half and then bringing on players like Sancho and Alcacer to play exciting bold football to overwhelm the opponents in the last 30 minutes to snatch a victory in the end. The team is very exciting with youth forming the backbone of the side, expertly led by Marco Reus in his new role as a false 9
The greatest coaching rivalry🔥
