so if it''s the switch then it looks like you have to replace the whole console and can't just replace the sunroof switch as it looks like its all sealed up. If that's the case how would you test if the problem is switch or the sunroof motor. thanks

I removed that module and opened it up by removing the screws. Some 1” grey, plastic pointy things fell out snd I don’t know where they go. Any video on taking this apart to check the switch contacts and reassemble it?

I have a bmw 3 series E90 2005 the sunroof only moves forwards when pressing the button forwards but doesn't work when I push down on it. What would be the problem. Please help! It was working fine a week ago but suddenly stopped working. It doesn't even reset when I press and hold down the button for a minute or more

mine is behaving weird too and with a diagnostic tool i found that the switch doesnt work correctly, so probably check that

How do you test the switch to see if it's bad, or the motor itself?

any comments as to how to test switch as it looks like the whole console unit needs to be replaced and not the switch as it's inaccessible and how would you test the sunroof motor

with a diagnostic tool you can read the switch state when its pressed - mine doesnt do anything when pressed forward and when pressed hard forward it says "up" which is wrong :)
