Andre was taught Accordion by a friend of mind, Ray Abshire, who recently passed away on Mardi Gras night after doing a gig with Steve Riley in Mamou. The wonder of Cajun music is it's not just this band, but so many talented musicians who grew up together. Such an amazing culture. If you ever are passing through Lafayette on I-10, get off at exit 103 B and head north about three exits and get off at Gloria Switch Road, follow the service road to Prejean's Restaurant, the world's best Cajun restaurant. The Michot's Grand dad and uncle still play there on Mondays. Best gumbo you'll ever put your lips on.

Un Pont vers la LOUISIANE,translated is: A bridge to LOUISIANA .The origin of the word "zydeco" is uncertain. One theory is that it derives from the French phrase Les haricots ne sont pas salés, which, when spoken in the Louisiana Creole French, sounds as "leh-zy-dee-co nuh sohn pah salay". This literally translates as "the snap beans aren't salty" but idiomatically as "I have no spicy news for you", signifying the speaker's fatigue or lack of energy. The earliest recorded use of the term may have been the country and western musical group called Zydeco Skillet Lickers who recorded the song It Ain't Gonna Rain No Mo in 1929.[3]

These guys are great. The young fiddle player reminds me of Doug Kershaw when he and Rusty first recorded. Watch the bass player and you can't help but get caught up in the music. All of them are good musicians and came along too late to make it like Doug and Jo-El Sonier.

Lester C St. Andrie I agree with everything you are saying except that I think they will be very big. They've taken traditional Cajun music to a near psychedelic level. I've seen them several times live and you won't find nicer, more personable musicians anywhere. Catch their Mammoth Waltz and Live at Gasa Gasa Cd's. They also did the soundtrack for Beasts of the Southern Wild. This band is going places.

Depuis plus de cinquante ans me a bien enchanté cette musique vivante de Louisiane.
And it's magical all the way through too.
It was on Irish radio (Radio Éireann) that I first cajun music in the mid 1950s - I was about 17 then and your music has never lost that first fine careless rapture.
