My older cousin had that exact same bike, but his had the hi-lo transmission. I was rode the 72 DT125. My favorites back in the day are Yamaha for the 2 strokes, and Honda for the 4 stroke
I guess it shouldn't really bother me but when someone says restoration I feel it should be down to last detail just like it came out of the box. I refer to these as a really nice sweet resurrection not restoration. I do resurrections lots of them and very nice no corners cut but mine are not factory correct 100% As you said Yamaha is a great co. Ive worked at three dealers before going on my own and like every co they built there fair share of not so good machines xs360 xs500 virago920 and a few more
I bought a barn find a few years back. Runs great needs restoring The bike in this video motivates me to start working on it

This dude gave me mine and it only had 456 miles on it but it was torn apart it looked all brand-new though
