Hi, I'm Uyen Ninh but please just call me Uyen!
I moved from Vietnam to Germany 3 years ago for studying. I make silly videos about how Germany looks like through the eyes of a Vietnamese student - on my way to be your favourite Ausländer! :D

love how u call him German boyfriend like there are another nationality boyfriends too. 😂
😂😂😂so nice
I wondered if her family refers to him the same way. 😂
Maybe she can give him a fake name. John
Plot twist: His actual name is Jerman-Boifran
@@Gamespectives 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Props to German bf. Meeting 20 people would be the last thing I'd want to do after travelling for 18 hours. 🙈
16 Stunden Flug nach Peru....und es waren mehr als 20, aber ich hatte meine Schwester mit...
Lol sounds like Dad had a crisis, "oh god, the foreign boyfriend is real... this is actually happening"
I literally laughed out loud when you said he’d be meeting 20 people instead of 2. 😂 poor German bf.
I have Italian/romanian family and my partner is mexican and it's like this 😂
Small gatherings are anything but 🤣🤣 but they still pretend it's gonna be just a few, as they then proceed to cook enough for an army, basically... 🤦♀️🤷♀️
@@CaptainAMAZINGGG that sounds like so much fun. Also delicious. lol
Typical 😂 I feel for him 😭
Same thing happens in my country Indonesia. Never be a few, but so many 😂
Social phobia is scared of that incident😂 gosh
German boyfriend really went out on all the gifts, wow! 🥰
Deutschlektion !
It’s expected.
@@DovidMexpected AND appreciated :)
Yes so many gifts!
As an English as a foreign language teacher, I really appreciate you saying not everyone can teach just because they're a native. So many people think my job is easy 💔😅 hopefully German boyfriend will have some language success. It's definitely important :)
Tbh I find it hard to learn from most teachers and basically need a unicorn version of one so, definitely expertise and unique abilities are basically super powers that magical teachers have. 👍
Yes, anyone who thinks that all you need to be a teacher is knowledge of a specific subject has never tried to teach anyone anything! When it comes to language I don't even think native speakers are necessarily better teachers - they can be great obviously, but it actually kind of helps to also be a foreign language learner when you're going to be teaching foreign language learners. I teach both my native language and English, and it definitely helps me to understand better what can be challenging about English.
Fellow EFL teacher here, too! I can’t agree more!!!!! ❤ I live for things like this hahahaha seeing cultures mix together is truly so beautiful to me ❤
I mean, there is a good reason we had to take education courses at University before teaching. So people should expect it to be hard.^^
so true!! I tried teaching a friend my first language, and turns out I didn't even know my own language, and basically live on experience and instinct hahah. Also realised that my language is not as easy as I thought it was XD
Love seeing people work thru cultures to make a wonderful relationship last. How cool to learn so much about a new culture in a relationship.
I wonder why it's never German woman and Asian man?
@@val-schaeffer1117 Because of the "size" ! Get it ! NO , just a joke ! I just had to !
@@val-schaeffer1117
As a Asian.
Asian men …. Not popular than Asian girls.
But expect Koreans men .
@@val-schaeffer1117 There are asian men who have western women but they just don't meet that fast like the other way around ! Asian men are mostly afraid and to shy to talk to western women , not like western men ! We are more "agressive" when it comes to asking a girl out ! It's a culture thing !
@@mmsumi668 Oh , you are wrong , asian men are getting more popular in the west today ! Trust me !
I’m also from Germany so it’s really heartwarming to see how your boyfriend cares for others
Your German boyfriend
Guter Boyfriend. Ich mag den Dude
I am also German and I don’t have family - this makes me so happy ❤❤❤
I'm married to a German man, Native American myself. We truly find so many similarities in our lives more than not. I love seeing this young couple flourish so well. But there I'd something special about German people. My inlaws and I are super close. I'm the only daughter inlaw so I get ALL...... the family hand me down dishes, clothes, precious things, etc. Her treasures that she wanted handed down to her name sake grandsons. It was so bizarre at first for me to accept all these gifts she gave to me personally but I knew were entrusting me with her grandsons inheritance items wise. I felt her own daughters should've gotten many things. But my husband assured me it wad meant for me and our sons, we have 3 btw. So German people truly are at the top of my list. Their humor is just amazing and different! But they are truly THE kindest & warmest people you will ever meet. So, just wanted to add that to your already great comments 😊.
@@TastySchu4 thanks for sharing your experiences. You seem like a really nice person 😊
"He gets so awkward that he immediately got sick" 😆Sounds like a typical dad-thing tbh, I can see mine doing the same
My dad just keeps speaking his native language to my English husband who only speaks English lol. I'm kinda glad they don't speak the same language though, at least they can't argue :D
i reallly respect how you avoid showing peoples faces, im sure your nephew will be grateful when he grows up❤and a great video as always!
In Germany it’s illegal to share other people’s faces or other identifying features without their consent. I really wish this were a law in the US because the amount of videos of pranking strangers and exploiting children for “social media content” is ridiculous here
I feel the opposite, she should show everyone’s face. More interesting plus they’d be getting famous, she her channel has now gone viral!
@@HappilyAfterEverthat’s a stupid law. No freedom, typical Germany. Pranking strangers videos are hillarious!! You sound like a lot of fun…. NOT.
@@ridinwithjakeyeah, it's totally funny to see yourself on the internet where you look like an idiot or if you grow up you can see and hear all the dumb stuff you did as a child. Really cool, that's the kind of freedom we need. Because we all just love if our parents share our embarrassing baby pictures with their acquaintances. Think about how nice it would be if they share it with the whole world to see. Must be fantastic so apply for a job when you are 20 and your boss to be states: yeah I saw baby pictures of you in the bathtub. And you were a brat, so I'm not hiring you. But freedooooooom...
Also not everybody wants to be famous. For example her boyfriend 😜
Also freedom is not a one way street, this law supports my freedom to choose if I want to be shown or not. Because that is not your choice to make as otherwise you take my rights away by making it your choice if I don't have a say in it.
@@ridinwithjakeI pretty much like my freedom to decide if my face is shown somewhere or by somebody. 😎😂
They had a beer together . No more interaction needed. He is family now 😂
Uyen 🥺 When you guys were talking about how we were your priority, I know it was lighthearted, but it was also serious. Don't jeopardize yourself for US. Everyone who really appreciates you guys, will understand any delays or ANYTHING. Keep up the amazing fantastic content, I'm so happy you got to see the baby!! Auntie is the best. I'm sure you will miss everyone when you go home, that's how returning from a family visit goes. Bittersweet 💜 Do enjoy it!!
@skyhightabby !!! I love this comment XD just had to say it. Viewers prioritizing the content creator's life, seeing them as persons and not just as content creators, is so goooood. Thank you for thinking like that. (I know it's weird me, thanking you for supporting them, but I mean it haha) :) :)
I second this
Agreed, an interesting video is completely secondary to the wellbeing, health, and happiness of the person making it! I'm always happy to see respectful fans who understand this and content creators who prioritize taking care of themselves and know they're allowed to have healthy boundaries with their viewers. Uyen seems pretty grounded so I'm pretty sure that part was at least half joking, but I hope that she knows that most of us far rather care that she's doing well than getting a short posted every day.
They are making a lot of money from us so...
@@remiinisc3literally all you do is watch a video. It's not like YOU pay them 👀
I giggle how you say "I brought German boyfriend" like he is some kind of hallmark product... I love german boyfriend, I bring it with me in my bag whenever I travel ☺️
Sometimes I forget he has an actual name and just kind of assume German Boyfriend is like his legal name or something 😂
I am pretty sure she call him German boyfriend by accident in real life from time to time 😂
@@camiro66💀that would be so funny
Wonderful story time video! As a German introvert who married into a South Asian family (my husband is Indian) I really can relate to German boyfriend's experience. Tbh I found the story with your dad so so cute. It seems your dad is quite a bit of an introvert too - I'm also known to kind of 'play sick' when everything just suddenly gets too overwhelming for me. But once they said cheers over beer the ice is broken, not much of a conversation needed. This could so be a story from my life! ^_^
I've been married to my husband for 10 years and I've really come to appreciate the big social life in Asia, even as an introvert. It's okay to be an introvert, just be there, go with the flow, it's really all people expect. It's okay to be a bit shy :)
I can just tell you guys are meant to last!
Hello from India 👋❤ how is Germany?
I'm a German introvert married to a Greek and living in Greece. My way to deal with social overload is going to the kitchen and washing dishes or taking care of young kids or pets or I just find some old family member and ask them about their youth and just let them talk...😂
@@helgaioannidis9365This sounds just like my holidays in Italy with my husband's extrovert family. After having kids, I realised I could use them as an excuse to quietly leave the scene (and avoid being fed to death). Sometimes I say that they have to go inside because it's too hot or the sun is too much for our light skin tone, and on other days, they simply 'want' to go play. And if none of this works, I pretend that I need to do the laundry urgently.
Lol good idea.
But I thought India is in South Asia?
This is random but I feel your nieces and nephews will grow up idealising you (and your kids if you choose to have them). You’re so incredibly kind, funny and brave. It’s not easy to forge your own path in life but you did, and you did it with passion and determination. Love from Australia 🇦🇺 keep being you!
Hey Uyen! I'm also a Vietnamese that went to Germany to study and have a German bf. I relate to your content so much and it's great seeing that others share the struggles I have.
I really appreciate how conscientious you are of respecting people's privacy to their image on the internet. Even the baby! Because they cannot consent until they understand. I love it and thank you for it!
I always love to see how respectful you are when it comes to family members not wanting to show their face. Unfortunately a lot of content creators don't care about that kind of thing.
As a fellow Viet thank you for posting such relatable content, I don’t feel so alone!
All the Vietnamese people I have met have been lovely and kind ❤
@@albin2232 Until the moment you piss them of ! 😄
I’m not Vietnamese or German, but I found this so relatable as well. I just love how she tells the story with a universal flair.

Its really fascinating to see 2 different cultures coexisting together.

Poor father. I understand him as a mature lady, little things can make us anxious and quite stressed out even if we try to control it. Our nerves get rattled and make us a bit unwell sometimes. I love your story telling style. I don't know how to do the fancy zoom in and out effects like you do. Blessings from Myanmar
Id say poor boyfriend too… must have been very stressful for him as well!
you can always count on babies and small kids to not care about cultural differences 🥰they're just happy to have new people to play with and cuddle on! SO glad you all got there safely!!
Vietnamese attitude towards community and spontaneity sounds refreshing ❤ I live in the UK and everyone needs atleast a month to plan a meet up. It really stresses me out because I don't know how I'll feel this weekend let alone next month. Whenever I've called a friend on the day to see what they're up to, they get stressed because I haven't even planned the call 😂 maybe once a year someone will be feeling spontaneous and we'll do something 😂
I feel this!! I was in Japan but I am from the Middle East 🥺
Same! I'm from Eastern Europe, live in England
What a horrible way to live! Shake it off and be spontaneous! People get too used to their own space and don't like the invasion of visitors but they'll get over it . If they don't shake them off too.
@@Marie.bidk, I absolutely hate spontaneity cuz I need to mentally prepare to hang out with people and stuff and it's so much nicer for me that way
@@wolfzmusic9706 well I think it's a bit like exercise, we don't like the idea of it much and we put off doing it but when we do push ourselves, we feel better for it and wonder why the heck we had such an aversion to it 😆. Well that's me anyway. We're all getting too precious about "me time".
Aww Uyen, you and German BF are the priorities. We are all here because of the two of you, so you have to put yourself first.
im sitting here imagining how the young niece who loves german boyfriend interacts with him, so cute 🥺
I work at dm and seeing what you packed for your family makes me smile :D I have a lot of asian customers at my location and they buy similar stuff to send home ❤
interesting and why?
I live in the Netherlands and sometimes we go to the nearest German town just to go to dm and buy out half the store. 😂
@@NinaW1nas someone from Luxembourg ,we do exactly the same lmao
@@NinaW1n Understandable, I lived in the Netherlands for 2 years and holy shit, drug store products are so expensive!!! I have a serious Kruidvat trauma 😂
@@atticusblau3788 I don't know why certain products are so popular outside of Germany 🤔 Maybe the local brands aren't as high quality? We Germans do like our regulations and stuff :D
What powermove by dad. I wish I could play sick when my roommates had people over lol
You and your boyfriend are perfect for each other 🥺 You are both such incredibly caring people which shows through your thoughtful and generous gifts and how much consideration you put into preparing to spend time with your family. You also both have such a great sense of humour and care deeply for each other and your families. I love that you keep people's faces hidden, that is so respectful and considerate and rare to see among content creators nowadays. You are relationship goals and amazing people, thank you for sharing your stories with us ❤
My husband is also very shy, he would freak out if we went from meeting 2 people to 20 people. The way he explains it is- if he is meeting new people, he will mentally prepare for it. If it was suddenly a huge crowd instead of two, he would not have prepared for that. I'm glad you had a nice meeting and holiday back home.
Love how Uyen calls him German boyfriend 😂😂 anonymous to the end 🎉🎉
😭 you guys sound like the epitome of a healthy relationship.
I'm Canadian and we're known for being chill but dang man we're not lol.
The values you guys share ... I can tell you I've never met a healthy partner like that
Asians are pretty chill. Westerners are authoritarian nowadays.
My favorite part about this channel is the fact that Uyen speaks English with a German accent! it's too cute!
I can hear her Vietnamese accent
The only thing she says the German way is Euro.
@@resourceress7 that’s for sure. But I can’t deny that I hear a distinctly german lilt to her speech.
When I was 13 years old I went to Vietnam with my two best friends and visited their family (they are Vietnamese) it was such a wild trip. I of course didn't speak any Vietnamese so I basically learned a bunch of basic phrases in these two weeks, like how the greet and Adress people properly, how to say yes and no, words for food. Now I don't know any of that anymore but it was so fun and amazing to have experienced a country not as a complete tourist but by living with locals. One night we stayed at the aunts house which was an old Colonial house, very fancy and they bought very stale bread for me for breakfast. We also brought a huge amount of gifts of baby formula, candy, medicine, etc. it was a lot and everybody we met basically got some. Another amazing thing is that my friends and I got custom tailored ao dais (I'm not sure that's the right spelling) traditional Vietnamese dresses
I still have mine even though it doesn't fit anymore
GBF: manages to handle much too many new social contacts
Vietnamese Father: became deadly ill after seeing one foreigner
People really look for partners like their parents, except she got a stronger one! 😂
I just broke up with my boyfriend and came to watch my favorite couple 💗 you guys are my safe space

German Boyfriend went full out German mode there for am minute, when it came to luggage!
Wer zu spät kommt... hat nicht früh genug begonnen zu packen!
The two of you are adorable together
When you said "we didn't pack very well" I immediately thought "but... you have German boyfriend?"
Then German boyfriend pipes up and corrects you. Yes. That makes sense now
It makes me so happy to learn about your life, you guys's story is really heartwarming. I especially loved all the kids' reactions (the baby calling him 'hanni' and petting him, aaaah my heart!).
The gift choices are so good! German boyfriend should teach a class on gift-giving.
Uyen, you are such a great story teller ! I also love your accent and the one of Gbf so much. You establish the "movie" settings and Gbf add his incredible little humour touches.

I definitely sympathize with GBF. When my wife and I were dating, when I met her family, it was *everybody*; so many cousins, etc. I never grew up with that, so it was really overwhelming. Especially when her two very young cousins decided to have a screaming contest >.
Back in 2016, I brought my German Boyfriend to Madagaskar for the first time. It was on Christmas and he was welcomed at my uncle's home in a big party with over 50 people. 😂

Honestly it sounds like your dad was stressed. That can cause fysical illness. 😢 So nice they got to drink a beer together. Your niece.. "honey" Adorable! ❤❤❤
The reason he's good at buying gifts is because Germans are a gift giving culture. everyone knows how to buy something gift-like.
I disagree, my family is not very good at that. I admire German boyfriend in many ways, because he seams like a very kind soul. (Of course this is social media and I don't see the bad sides, but still, you can't fake being kind.)
In comparison to other cultures World wide I wouldn't call Germany a gift giving culture. Yes there are host Gifts and Mitbringsel but i was so happy to be told to have Gifts ready when I met my brothers Chinese in law family.
@@gnommg must be my personal experience with Germans. The gifts are always so thoughtful and what I would actually want.

Thank you for sharing these stories and experiences with us! It is really lovely ❤ You two are a sweet couple. Sending good vibes to both of you.
The blending of two cultures in a new family is a monumental effort. But it is, in my book, an absolute requirement before marriage and more so before pregnancy. You and your fiancee are so smart to put in all the hard work upfront. Marriage, while not always between two families, it is between two cultures in interracial marriages. And to bridge the two cultures is a constant labor. Especially, if kids are in the picture. Thank you to both you and your fiancee for taking this venture seriously.
