DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced vs Autel Evo 2 Enterprise 640T; Which is the best fit for you?

  • In this video I compare the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced to the Autel Evo 2 Enterprise 640T. These are 2 of the most popular drones for public safety or commercial inspection applications. I conducted flight tests which include tests of the thermal imaging systems, searchlight, speaker and the remote controllers. How to do these drones perform? You'll see sample thermal images and hear a test of the speaker systems. I'll put the remote controllers side-by-side. You be the judge on which unit is the best for your needs.

    I had a DJI Mavic 3 Classic and although it was a very nice drone, it had one major flaw. It had a huge problem tracking me. Locked on less than ten percent of the time and would easily lose me at only ten mph. This drone was returned to the seller.
    I replaced it with the Autel EVO II Pro Enterprise V3 with the one inch 6k camera. I’m not a professional, but I wanted a very high quality, high tech drone. This drone features carbon fiber arms, larger motors and larger propellers. So carrying a payload would not be an issue.

  • @the_bloke_that_cuts_the_grass

    Excellent video. If money was no object then it’s a no brainer, the Autel is streets ahead. They both do the job they were designed for but if it were a life and death situation, I’d rather be using the Autel. that when comes to fixing problems the dji is better that is has a lot of places to get fixed or buy parts for. The autel in the other hand is very hard to get fixed and only autel has the parts and won't sell
    to repair shops. They kept the nuts on that. Only one place in the USA to repair them. They are both very good drones. I have a better transmission with the autel though.

    I have always preferred Autel drones because they make the most advanced drones. But Autel has also been putting out incomplete drones, where features are not working as advertised. I have recently bought an Evo 2 Pro Enterprise V3. I have a few hundred flights and understand a little about frequencies and antennas and I will explain here to dissolve any confusion about those things. I have lots of experience with the Evo 2 Pro V1 as I have 2 of them and have done lots of comparing and troubleshooting over the last couple of years with them. The Evo 2 Pro E V3 which should have a 15km transmission I just got barely transmits as good as my Evo 2 Pro V1's, which have a 9km transmission. When you go to the transmission screen on the new Evo 2 Pro E V3, there are no options, the screen is empty, Autel has explained to me this will be done at some update, it has now been 5 months since the drone's been released. The drone is very obviously working on a 2.4Gz signal, that is a short wavelength and should have a 2 inch antenna, just like most all drones up till now. The reason the transmission is barely keeping up with my Evo 2 Pro V1s, is because they put a 4 inch antenna, which is optimal for 900Mhz frequency. 900Mhz Is a longer wave that goes better through walls, when they do the update this will be an amazing drone yes, for now, if you've had an Evo 2 Pro V1 in the past, you will feel quite dissapointed. I do get real flight times of a little over a half an hour compared to 25 minutes which everyone always exagerrates, so Autel did real good there yes. So Autel put out a new drone with supposed frequency switching, but it's not doing any of that yet and the antennas are optimized for 900Mhz, which the drone is not working on, because if it was working 15km with 900Mhz would be amazing in the city yes. Of course at 900Mhz you then get a slower waves, hence slower data transfer, so I'm not even sure if they can transmit data at 1080 at that frequency, I would be fine with 720 resolution at 900Mhz, I still see power lines good on the bright screen, right now it is 720, I can easily tell, they havent updated that either. Respectively, a 4.8Gz transmission or 5.8, would be optimas with about an even shorter antenna probably closer to 1 inch, with makes it easier to fit inside your cellphone as you go up with Ghz :-). This is a very disappointing thing that Autel is doing and I hope they do the update for the transmission soon. I paid 5k for this thing and that was one of the main reasons I bought it for. Autel has also released a new drone with something very important not working as advertised. They kept my drone in repair for weeks so I got my money back from Blue Skies, who I bought it through. I then got the same drone through Amazon and found that the feature is not working on that one as advertised either. I have considered sueing Autel but I have always liked and supported Autel, and would prefer not to do this. If Blue Skies does not end the bank case against me I will tell everyone here what this feature is a lot of people would be upset, and I would hurt Autel, I would prefer not to do this. I hope they do an update to fix this soon.

    This weekend I flew the Evo 2 Pro Ent V3 in some stronger winds, with longer arms and larger motors you would hope it would perform better then an Evo 2 Pro V1. It did not, it would slow down and drop altitude and even gave me tilt warnings instead of wind warnings. They have not even programmed the FC good for the wind, this is terrible. They need to do a serious update for the FC. I've flown my Evo 2 Pro V1s in powerful winds that wanna knock you over, nothing can take that thing out of the sky, the winds yesterday were not even close to that strong and the Evo 2 Pro Ent V3 sucked badly. It took them till June 6th 2022 before they had the final FW update that gave us dual stability on the Evo 2 Pro V1 also, thats 2 years after the drone was released. So thats how long we might be waiting before they fix things with this one. I'm starting a drone company and I can't even do serious filming with this drone because the dual stability is what got the Evo 2 Pro V1 real close to the Mavic, as far as smooth flying for filming goes. So at this time if I was doing serious filming, I would still actually be using my Evo 2 Pro V1 drone. Autel is focused on making money pushing the Evo Max 4T now and other products and is taking their time with this drone poeple spent 5K of their hard earned money on. And lastly, can we please stop beating around the bush with these useless accessories and make a drop arm like we know that that's what everyone wants. Can someone who knows electronics please rewire one of those useless accessories they give us and make a drop arm. I would be willing to pay handsomly for one.

      It depends on a few factors. If you are going to fly in controlled airspace frequently, Autel does not require an unlock. Autel seems to have more options for accessories and payload delivery. Finally branching out Commercially with Part 107. Question: The Evo does Picture-in-Picture with Thermal and RGB. Great work on the comparison. Do you have any comparison on how these two drones operate in windy conditions? Thank you!

    • @BillBongle
      @BillBongle  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Andrei. I don't have any empirical data, only my own experience. I have several hundred hours on these platforms. In my experience, the Mavic 2 will perform well in winds up to 20 mph. The Autel will perform well in winds up to 25 mph. While both claim they can operate in higher winds, I don't have a comfort level in conditions that exceed those speeds. The Autel has a larger airframe, more mass and a more powerful propulsion system so it can do a little better in high winds. The Autel unit can carry a payload but in very windy conditions I would not recommend that. A lot depends on how close you fly to objects and gusts.

    Do those drones are waterproof?
    Do they float?

      Neither of these drones are waterproof. If you need something that can be operated in wet weather or precipitation, the DJI M300 has a rating of IP45. IP 45 means it is protected from low pressure water jets from any direction.

    I currently own an EVO II 8K Drone. I accidentally crashed it. There is no visible damage. Now the drone wants to immediately flip over upon take off. What could be causing this problem?

    • @BillBongle
      @BillBongle  Před 2 lety

      his sounds like a problem with ehe flight controller or possibly a malfunction of one of the motors. You should send it in for service. Contact tech support here: www.autel.com/c/www/support/3132.jhtml

      @@BillBongle Thanks Bill for the reply. I found a video on the EVO website for installing the propellers, and noticed that I installed the propellers incorrectly. The original propellers were damaged during the accidental crash. I am waiting for the new propellers to arrive. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

    • @BillBongle
      @BillBongle  Před 2 lety +1

      @@StephenDouglas0921 Oh yes of course, the correct propeller must be installed on the correct motors. The quad-rotor design means the drone uses a counter rotating design. 2 propellers turn clockwise and 2 turn counters clockwise. Two propellers are marked with a white ring near the center and two are plain black. They should correspond to the motor with the same markings. Reversing them would certainly result in a tip over. Good luck! If you ever need a source for propellers or batteries, feel free to contact me. I usually keep them in stock.

    Bill, can you help me out? I am looking at purchasing one. Can you confirm that the Evo 2 is just the 640T Enterprise V2 with the Iray thermal and not the Dual 640T Enterprise with the Flir?

    • @BillBongle
      @BillBongle  Před 2 lety +2

      Both models are available. The 640t is what I reviewed in the video. The dual v2 Radiometric is the FLIR version. If it’s an enterprise package it’s v2. The Evo 2 Enterprise 640t is $8700. The Evo 2 Radiometric dual (FLIR) is $12300. Feel free to email me at info@titletowndrones.com

    Hi,
    A seller is selling a dji mavic 2 enterprise advanced drone and propellers only(REPLACEMENT, unopened and BRAND new).
    I want to use this drone model as like non enterprise, recreational as I am not part of any company.
    I will really appreciate your advice on below questions:
    - Will the seller be able to un-bind his replacement M2EA from his account so that I will be able to buy a unbound original smart controller from ebay from another seller an bind the drone and smart controller with my account after making the in person purchase?
    - Is it ok to purchase that replacement drone for full functionality using controller and other required dji accessories bought from different owners?
    Asking because, I have never purchased any enterprise dji drone and need a second opinion other than the seller.
    Thanks in advance.

    Awesome Bill. Here in the UK I volunteer for SAR. I’m torn between the M2EA and the Autel, I am not a drone business so funding the would come straight out of my savings, and unless i gathered donations its tough to justify. That said the autel, looks to beat the M2EA hands down, that screen alone, plus the picture in picture. Is this the current thermal drone from Autel? Or is there another one out there? Great to see real football pitches in the background too, none of that US football stuff 😉

    Dji utilizes geofencing. Autel leaves the responsibility of flying to the owner and doesn't use it.
    Autel is the clear choice, unless you can unlock the Dji. Even then, Autel is the better choice.
