México es un país enoooorme (Mexico is a huuuuge country). It has 32 different states, which are subdivided into municipios (municipalities). Every region has its own slang. For example, most of the slang in Tijuana is based on English words precisely of how close Tijuana is to the US border.
In spite of these peculiarities, if you use the mexicanismos I’ll teach you in this video, people will definitely understand you regardless of the city or state you are in. They will even think que eres muy buena onda (that you are “a good wave” -that’s how Mexicans refer to a cool person!)

That strawberry accent impression though 🤣🤣🤣 lmao
I knew maybe half of these. Spanish is so hard, yet so fun to learn at the same time. There's so much to learn but when you do, it opens up a whole new world.
This is me right now. So much to learn, but I practice every day - the culture, language, slang etc , I hope everything is going awesome in ur journey.
Cant say neta to people you dont know or they might not like it too much. Very informal.
Beautiful English to explain a tricky subject!
This video is really really good will you do more videos on Mexican slangs
Ahh es mi favorita tema…siempre tengo ganas para saber y entender (y usar) la jerga de todos los lugares
That was good!
muy bien hecho
Estas son las frases que necesito aprender para veramente "hablar Espanol"!
Very good comments on slang-especially how different regions have their own!!!!
Hola Mariana!
I describe güey as "fucker". You can say it to friends and people you know, but just randomly calling someone you just met and don't know a "fucker" can definitely be problematic and/or even start a fight! ¡Que ten cuidado güey!
This was very helpful, I knew some of them but not all. I always was a little unsure about the slang of "fresa" but I think I got it now. I've heard people who talk just like that great imitation she did! Another expression I don't quite understand is "no manches". Maybe someone can explain that one to me. Gracias, los videos son excelentes!
"No manches" is a surprise expression, when we can't believe something, for example; when a friend tells you that your girlfriend was a guy, you can't believe and say "no manches". This expression is used also when someone is exaggerating a situation.
@@dianasalgado7504 Thanks, I think I understand it better now!
Im learning Spanish too so I could be wrong but I think no manches is like “no way” and no mames means the same thing but it’s apparently more vulgar ig so more like “you’re shitting me” if that makes sense lmao
Sounds valley
@@kaylenb6027 Yeah, I think "no manches" is a less vulgar way to say "no mames" lol
Se dice tambien mano, compa y carnal para cuate..La primera vez que oi mexicanismos fue en las telenovelas Maria la del barrio con Thalia, que decia "mana" y Amores Verdaderos con Eduardo Yáñez que decia muy frecuentemente "achicopalado" y "hijole" ,
Eiza González con acento fresa "neta?" "minimizate y hazte click", y Sebastián Rulli...Tambien aprendi "esa zarrapastrosa" :))))
As a SPANIARD, I had never ever heard the slang term PEDO (meaning DRUNK, or STONED) in FEMENINE FORM ("PEDA").
Here, we use it, ALWAYS, for, both, man & women, in the masculine form PEDO ("Él estaba pedo"; "Ella estaba pedo").
"Wey" is actually "güey", and it comes from the word "güero"! But because of the pronunciation, *A LOT* of people think it's actually "wey", especially if they've never seen the correct form.
No, the actual literal meaning of "guey"
Sorry, I accidentally posted too soon. Anyway, the actual literal meaning of "guey" is not "güero", it's "ox". Yes, "guey" means "ox"!!
You should clarify the "fresa" accent is only Mexico City and , specifically, wealthier neighborhoods or people who want to
appear that they live in those neighborhoods. Also, güey (i.e., buey) was 2 decades ago and longer a very "vulgar" word in Mexico. If you were looking for a fight, you would call somebody buey.
Who is the Drag Queen at 2:02?
I’m Asian American trying to learn Spanish! Thanks 🙏🏽
From what Asian country?
Why are u intrested in Spanish
My parents are from Laos 🇱🇦 most of my family and friends are Hispanic. Damn that comment was a year ago lol 😂
@@Hattori_Keiko Laos 🇱🇦 but never been there
Que pedo, is truly weird and funny, perhaps my fav. of them all.
So Victoria Beckham is La Especia Fresa? Lol
Tal vez, Todos los mirreyes son fresas, pero no todos los fresas son mirreyes jajaja mirrey es como un super fresa o algo así xD
Yo ha lol mucho espanol. Coal es correcto? Guey o wey?
You can use both they are fine! I'm Mexican so, don't worries. If you want to follow the Spanish grammar It could be Güey, but Is not necessary because it's too informal. BTW güey, wey, guey, comes from the animal "buey" = ox. So at the end we call us like an "animal".
Güey
fresa sounds like someone who may, at one time, been referred to as a valley girl.
Yes, like totally a Valley girl lol
Wey, in my generation was meant jackass or donkey
¡Qúe pedo! Ja Ja! Qúe clásico, no?
Is there a gender to “cuate?”
