  • @xxclickingxxone-man-army632

    I built a fresh pc last year with the 5900x and 64gb ram, I however couldn't get hold of any reasonably priced graphics cards so had to stick with my 1660ti which was a very capable 4k editing rig. Finally though the price of cards are now back to some normality and I managed to pick up a really good priced 3070, and I think its the perfect sweet spot for all my video and photo editing pairing with my current equipment and files.
    Also I managed to get everything for an absolute bargain so I'm chuffed it didn't break the bank.

Thankfully my current laptop (a second hand asus ZenBook from 2015) can still handle the work am doing as I learn how to use premiere pro. Even davinci resolve runs on it but it definitely lags sometimes as I open more intensive windows like effects so I will need to replace it in the near future.

      I know this is almost a year old, but essentially, for 16G, go with 2x8 sticks (8GB each), then when you want to up to 32 G Drop another 2 8GB sticks in at the same speed spec and voila, 32GB and you do not have to replace them all with an appropriate amount anyway, besides, that seems to be how they are sold anyway, 2, 8GB, or 2, 16GB sticks etc., with most motherboards topping out 128GB anyway.

      I just got a 5950x which is 16 core 32 threads for $630. I saw the benchmarks and the 12900k is slightly faster but nothing noticeable. DDR5 is expensive and as to why I went with Ryzen and early adopting these Intel CPUs is a gamble. Another thing to take into account is that the TDP of at least the 12900k is almost twice of the 5950x which runs way hotter for a small percentage boost. Right now with a 240MM AIO and a slight undervolt, I'm sitting at mid 50s idle to low to mid 70's under load and sometimes climb into the low to mid 80s.

  • @AwesomeHotSauceandKristosCast

    I love these videos. I'll never buy a pre-made again after my last experience. Lots of claims not a lot of actual performance. And deliberate limitations on top of that. I can't use nodes in DaVinci because it only has one graphics card and it's built into the computer in only allows I believe a 4 gig add-on which I don't think will do a whole lot more for it. What's your position on Linux OS?

    • @johnhpalmer6098
      @johnhpalmer6098 Před rokem

      One of two things you likely did, didn't do any research, bought a lower end turnkey system or something like that as they can be quite strapped for video editing. I'd rather get something from Dell like the Studio XPS and use their configuration and for $1700, bought a more than capable desktop for 1080P editing. At the time, it was the first gen Core i7 processor and had an ATI Radeon discrete graphics card (back when AMD was ATI for graphics). Was able to configure it from Dell.
      Then in 2019, had to replace that poor old PC and went with a refurbished 6 YO Dell Optiplex small form factor desktop that will just do 1080P with a discrete older lower end graphics card (and will fit and work on the puny power supply) that I had already, meaning for it to be good for about a year before I'd upgrade, however, Covid put all that on hold so now I HAVE to upgrade here fairly soon so am doing research on it now. It'll hopefully be based on the most current processor and DDR5 memory.

    Okay Matt, I just gave you a vehement disagreement on the CPU for your $1K 2022 build CPU, so I think it's fair to hop in & tell you these are good choices for $1.5K. I'd only stress that the video storage should be SSD, External SSD, or internal RAID0 if you want to use spinning SATA hard drives for GB/$$. 1 single 7200rpm SATA drive, internal or external, is not optimum speed & you can hit a wall with a few video streams like multicam editing.

      Hello. I come from Vietnam. I don't have much knowledge about computers so I really need your explanation about my problem. Currently I have $1,000 to build a computer configuration to edit CZcams videos. Video duration is about 1-2 hours. The software I use is mainly Adobe and Capcut. How should I build the configuration? Please give me advice, thank you for reading.

    Awesome video. I just built a beast of a PC. Ryzen 9 5850x with a RTX 3080 and Samsung 980 pro. Sometimes, during playback of 1080/ 60fps from my Sony a73 or 4k/60fps from my GoPro, it skips frames and lags. When I lower the timeline resolution, it helps a lot and much smoother. I know the codecs have to do a lot with it but shouldn’t my gpu be able to shred through the codecs at original resolution? The software im using is Davince Resolve. I also select all clips and hit “Generate Optimized Media”.

    • @SuperCommercialDude
      @SuperCommercialDude Před 2 lety

      Hey man, I got the answer to your question but you’re not gonna like it. Nvidia GPUs do NOT support hardware accelerated decoding of 4:2:2 10 bit h.264/h.265 footage. It doesn’t matter what editing program you’re using because the GPU itself isn’t capable of doing it. So you’re computer is only using the CPU to decode your Sony footage. You can confirm this by opening task manager and checking out GPU usage while playing back in Davinci.

      The graphics cards have their own memory that comes already on the card itself. (VRAM) This spec has no bearing on which of the two different RAM types for your motherboard choice. Late comment, but also helping explain for future viewers.

    Hey Matt, ty for all your pro tips. Question: How/why do you edit off of an external Samsung T5 SSD, instead of using one of your internal Sabrents or even something like a Samsung Evo Pro 970 (what I use on my Lenovo workstation) ? Isn’t the write speed quicker on the latter choices? I know you might proxy, which I do too, but it seems like with this build (or at least one of the higher tier builds) it would be unnecessary. Ty again

      Go back and watch again, he is quite mobile so needs to have projects be mobile too as he is switching from a desktop to a laptop, so a single drive for projects he's working on, that way, he ensures he has the most update version of a project at hand, and not having to update the one on the desktop before he can edit and does not have to think twice about it, just plug the drive in, and go. It's a bit of a compromise in ultimate speed for editing, Vs convenience and knowing he has the absolute latest version saved until the project is finished and exported.
      That is my guess anyway.
