** Gear Provided by MSI ** The PC in this video and all its components were provided by MSI. We were looking to upgrade one of our PC’s, and MSI reached out offering to send us some of their awesome gear. We provided them with our standard terms (TL;DR version: “Sounds great, BUT we will only ever present our full, unfiltered, unbiased opinions - both good and bad”). Not only did they agree, they insisted we go all out with our thoughts on the good, the bad, the awesome & the ugly. They sent us the full PC, and we’ve been basking in its awesomeness ever since.

My first thought lmfaooo
I prefer Warmplay
ok so. I watched through this whole thing, So i can say that most of what he is reccomending right here is for 4K, unlike very known people,
you won't find any small content creators and filmmakers use that resolution. As a small content creator myself i can say that 1080p is a very good place to start at. And i also used a lot of editing softwares, including premiere pro and after effects, i also use davinci resolve for now. And i edit on a not high end machine. I am editing on a laptop. I have 8gb of DDR4 RAM, Ryzen 5 2500U and a radeon vega 8 as a gpu which has 256mb of dedicated video ram. And from my experience i can reccomend that you should use at MOST 32gb of ram, but the sweet spot is 16gb of ram clocked at 3200MHz, a ryzen 5 processor and a radeon RX 460 as a good enough 1080p editing machine. Yes i am aware of the fact that this video is a bit outdated. But that's no excuse to reccomend a core i7 as a processor. AMD made really good CPUs with they zen architecture in 2017. So a ryzen 5 1600 would be more than good enough to edit at 1080p or 4k.
You might have some stutters but it will work in 4K. The only thing i agree on is the storage. You should have 2 SSDs and a HDD, one SSD as the boot drive and put the editing software on it, one SSD to save your projects on to load them faster and a HDD to save your videos on. I'll try and see if i can find a video i watched a few days ago about a good 4k Editing pc for cheap
Thanks for the TLDW version bro despite the comment being late it helped me, also, what's that video about a good 4k editing pc for cheap? ;)
intel is terrible value and amd is crushing intel with their zen 3 processors so i recommend u wait so u can get the ryzen 7 5800x or 5700x
@@steviessteeds8478 is ryzen 7 3700x with 5600xt good enough for 1080p editing?
Dude thanks alot really looking for a budget desktop to start my own setup for my youtube channel!
@@Sonnyfx yep definitely. Also be sure not to cheap out on your ram, get at least 16 gb.
To sum up: You have to be really rich to be able to afford this
Oh, im buying 4900x :D
Not really.
Get 1080p not 4K it save loads of money and unless you’re watching high-end movies all the time or making professional software that needs to run at movie standards then it won’t benefit you much over 1080p
And all of this is way more expensove in poor countries..
Yeah
If anyone is curious, the total price is around $2000 for this build
Thank you!
Cooper Jones awesome i’ll just spend $2000 which is equivalent to my rent then i’ll become homeless begging people for money on the stream struggling for an outlet to plug this in just for me to play some fortnite and edit my youtube videos that is until i get robbed and lynched for no absolute reason
@@canigetsubswitvids expensive rent xD
is like spam? It smells like span.
Where can I buy them?
Keep calm and:
1- CPU
2-Ram
3- GPU
4-storage
5- Adobe PR
That’s all
Still to much for me
@It's Cook! 1 8700k, 2 x16 gb ram, 3x 1080 sli, 4 drives(1x 500gb 970 evo, 2x 1 tb 860 evo, 1x 4tb barracuda), 5 different versions of premiere (cs3, cs4, cs5, cs6, cc)
+ psu
Look man idk how but your *LITERALLY* helping me with everything i need, from setting up a youtube channel to making an end card to purchasing a desktop for editing. I love your work, pls keep it up.
Thanks for the review and advice. I have been thinking for s few days about purchasing a desktop for editing because I just ordered some pretty nice new camera equipment (by my standards anyways), but then decided that it would be much more rewarding to build one instead. I am freshly retired, still kind of young and I love the outdoors and working a bit with photography. So I figured that I would try and mix the two hobbies together.
Now, I am so completely technologically impaired that it's frustrating. I've learned quite a lot over the last few days of watching everyones versions of their greast PC builds. And I agree with them. Their knowledge of the systems, the components and the way that they interact with each other towards sn end result, have been in most cases very impressive and informative.
Awesome! This is exactly the video I have been looking for, with regards to the area of video editing. Cheers from Adelaide, Justin. James and Jen :-)
A year and a half later: Ryzen 9 3950x hits the shelves and AMD has the cheapest CPU for editing video available...
Yeah it’s more then what you need and amazing for only $450
A couple days ago: Ryzen 5000 series and Zen 3 hit
a week ago the ryzen 9 5950 is stronger then a i9 10900k at the same price
How's aAmd goin today? I heard they've been smashing Intel.
This is the most useful video I've found on this topic, he gives you details of what component does what and the benchmarks and budget ranges!
Thank you!
Thanks a lot for this video. I'm currently looking for a computer, most preferably a laptop, to do some video editing however now that I've seen your video I kind of get an idea of the components that you need to build a PC (never have built a PC) so thank you very much for this informational video man!
Thanks Justin at last I have a good idea what I need in a PC for making videos very grateful for your detailed explanation.
Awesome Florie!
Great info and easy to understand breakdown. Thank you for sharing. Subbed and liked
Thank you so much for this information. I’m in the market and needed to hear everything you referred to.
Awesome, You're welcome!
This is the kind of contect that I like. Keep it up!🙋🏿
damn awesome video and great straight forward info packed. Thx I am now off and hunting for whats needed
👍
Thanks for clarifying my doubt brother
Thank you very much
No problem! 😊
Nice one Justin! The cleared up lots of questions I had, many thanks
Glad to hear it Brian!
thanks, this was helpful!
Great video and breakdown. Thank you!
Excellent video! The advice you provided was clear and concise. I'm now confident that I'll be able to make an educated decision re: which system to purchase.
Awesome! This is music to my ears! :)
Many thanks for the info! keep up the good work!
Awesome! So glad we could help you 😄
Thank you! This was very helpful!
Glad you liked it!!
Great video, thanks for the info. It helped me heaps.
Thanks! 😀
Thanks for the video. It has definitely given me a lot of food for thought. One question you did not address was the cost of buying individual components vs buying a complete system assembled by someone else. I am a former bicycle mechanic who used to assemble complete road bikes from frames and components that I purchased online. THe process was rewarding, but I found I never really saved that much money. I wanted performance, which meant I needed the best components I could afford. By the time I bought each component and assembled it onto a frame, I had spent almost as much as I would have if I purchased the entire bike as a complete unit from an online retailer. For those who assemble computers, I have to wonder if the same concept applies?
i know i’m very late, but prebuilt pcs are around 200% of the part price, and for a first time builder will take about 7 hours. Depending on the price of the computer, and the value of your time, it can be either way. Generally, prebuilts are only worth it if your time is worth about 125$ an hour
Another incredibly helpful video. Thank you!!
Awesome to hear!! 😃
This was helpful. Thank you!
So awesome to hear it! 😀
Jesus there must be 20 videos of people that MSI gave computers too. Same system too. How can a reviewer be subjective?
because they will get new stuff regardless what they say...from various manufacturers...
As you say really easy to be subjective. If only it were so easy to be objective...
You were trying to say, objective.
The problems people run into is when they go beyond just editing and start with CGI or animation. I ended up using a pair of Quadros and a pair of 6 core CPU's and 64 GB ram. The plus side is when doing regular editing I render faster than the actual video.
thanks for the informative video. helped me :)
I made the mistake of having a motherboard, that didn't support the 3000mhz that my ram was capable of. Worth double checking what your motherboard supports. Would have been cool if you mentioned more about which editing software work best with which specs and did some bench mark tests!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO informative, I am no computer tech but you explained it so well, I now know what is required to get the best CPU for my editing
Awesome - so glad it helped! 👍
Wow thanks for such a detailed info! 🌞😊
No problem Inness!
Justin, I greatly appreciate how you break everything down and spell it out! Thank you!
Good video, well done and strait to the point.
Thanks Mic! 😀
This guy's a really good pro. Very easy to listen and learn from.Very Good
Appreciate that Phil. Thanks for watching 😀
This Video should have more than Million Views... Great Work.
Haha, thank you Raja! 😊
Thanks Bro very great help Man!
Great video! I was going to build a new rig but I'm kinda put off by the sky high prices of ram/graphics cards recently. In some cases almost double what they were a year ago. Just gonna wait it out for now
BaileyPaws was thinking the same thing prices are crazy now. But what other options are there?
Helpful presentation, thanks for sharing. I've had good luck with Samsung SSD's 😎
hey Chris Martin I don't know that you are is talented in technology too. cheers mate. great video
I remember when XP came out I had a P3 computer and Sony Vegas. I got a hold of an old VHS video camera. All together I may have had $500 in everything. It was fun and enjoyable. Funny how times changes.
this is actually useful, thanks
No problem jps vids!
Did I miss the part about having enough power from the PSU? I guess a 'bronze' 80 with 600W would be good for this system.
Could be more helpful if you can explain more about motherboard
- PCI-E slots performance
- RAM slots
- SSD slots
- Video Ports for dual display setup
Thanks for the rest of the vital information
Lovely, thanks so much!
No problem Salima Mitha!
Great value thanks.
No problem!
Omg I needed this! Cheers bruh! Once again Justin to the rescue!
Awesome, glad it helped Olympia😃
4 years after the creation of this video and still very informative and nicely presented. Thank you so much :)
So as for today which card should I choose for video editing on premiere and after-effects? 2060 or 3060?
The answer for editing 4K video is 3060. If you are only editing HD1080, the 2060 would be enough.
@@adrianvanleeuwen Bought the 3060 :) Thanks
great infos! i just want to ask regarding the GPU? would a gtx 1060 be okay as a mid-range GPU? If yes, how many gb? If not, what should be in the mid range that wpuld be a great fit? thank you and wish you more success!
Nice, but need it portable as i am a digital nomad. I am looking at a razor with 1 tb internal. The other major requirement is a quiet running computer since it is also in the studio where I am producing the videos. I am looking to spend around $5000. So what is your suggestions on a laptop?
How would you recommend the Below assembly ?!! 🤔🤔
Intel core i5
8GB RAM
4GB GPU
1TB HDD + 256GB SSD
...... What Mobo should I use ?????
I’d love it if y’all made an updated video like this. Because I’m actually using a Lenovo Yoga 6 and I’m so bummed bc I need to buy a new computer. When I bought the laptop I had no idea I’d end up using it for half the things I’m using it for now. Everyone I speak to are all gamers and they’re telling me the GPU I need at leas a 3060. I’m a crypto channel, and I do screen share, and run my phone as a webcam via USB cable, and would like to be able to do live videos while screen sharing and have video calls all at the same time. It’s hard to know if I’m looking at computers that are way more powerful than I need, or if I should get the more powerful computer.
Why is everything soo complicated?🤧🤧
not really, bring 4,000USD to the nearest computer store and tell them "i want a PC with everything on it!" :D
Vin Man > Ultimate ! LOL. Exactly spot on. What money can do hmmm. Why should we spend time knowing all the technicalities. Very true in a way, if your dealing with a knowledgeable & ethical store.
It doesn't have to be. Buy any iMac 27 or any macbook 15', and install Final Cut Pro X. Done.
Visual Studios Apple computers are locked down, and have horrible hardware.
iMac for edit 4k or raw footage cost $4000 or $5000.
Real video starts here @ 2:02
thank you for the helpful information
Great to hear it helped!
This is useful and if you use adobe premiere pro, adobe has a support page on what they suggest and what your priorities should be to upgrade
So I'm just trying to buy a pc and edit vids any recommendations?
How do you put amazon affliate links in your description?
many thanks, useful
No problem!
Hi Justin I’m a very grateful subscriber and follower of your videos great info as always in this video I must admit a bit more then I can chew since am not really a big techy guy .. but sure learned some valuable information with this video . But to sum this up I have a Question ??? If you was to recommend at least 2 computers PC for a CZcamsr in a tight budget like myself which PC you would recommended that at least it will allow me to work with premier pro at a decent speed and 16gb .. not to worry for crazy speed at the moment
Thank you Justin !
You're welcome, Fassara!
@@PrimalVideo We are waiting for more tutorial!
Hello. I’d like to buy this pc but i’ve a doubt: do you think that nvidia quadro p4000 8gb will be better for performance and adobe premiere? Thank you very much for the answer.
Thanks for the great info. I've been using my phone to do simple editing stuff 😂 hoping to crank up quality with an actual computer to edit soon.
Ryzen 5 2600 or i5 9400f. Which one should is buy for Video editing?
Please tell me.
I'll be saving up for this
How much did you spend on your computer or how much should we expect to spend on a proper video editing computer? low to high range?
For all you upcoming and beginner film/photographers get a gaming laptop or a gaming rig desktop. The performance on those machines will do you solid, trust me. They range from 500 - 4000 in price and will last longer then a normal business work lap top and they hold more storage for video/photo editing projects.
Appreciate this, how important is RAM? Just came across a gaming laptop with 4Gg RAM though 😐
@@tower_x9951 works mighty fine to me. I ain't run into no trouble.
Actually cores>speed and for GPU, VRAM does make a difference according to many tests, especially when doing real-time editing.
Appreciate the honesty
No problem Ajay!
What is the value of the pc? Just to give us an idea. Thanks!
Another question. It sounds like you don't use background rendering. So doesn't that mess things up because then what you're working on isn't the final product? Im worried about my audio sounding different after upload. Otherwise I would turn off background rendering. I want my project to look like the real thing!
Which HP desktop computer would b most suitable for my needs?
I want to purchase a new desktop computer but cant decide which one would b the best for me. i m a youtuber and regularly upload new videos on y youtube channel.
I want to use video editors like wondershare. filmora, proshow gold, smartshow 3d and camtasia.Plz suggest me a best desktop on which i can run all these latest softwares smoothly without any difficulty.also tell if it is possible to use all the video editing softwares mentioned above on i7,7th or 8th generatio,8gb or 16gb ram and a NVIDIA GeForce powerful graphics card..
Amd processor has more core than Intel. You can get high end amd processor in less money.gpu has less importance compare to CPU in editing.so spend more money on cpu.a gtx 1060 4 gb will be enough.but processor always choose high end model
Premier Pro runs better on Intel, DaVinci Resolve runs MUCH faster with AMD\Radeon. Probably a bigger factor than the hardware you use.
Great video. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Threadripper? DaVinci Resolve?
what about a ryzen build for editing? do a video on that
Nice Video. Can this handle 3ds Max and Rendering or i'll have to throw in a P4000 Quadro in there?
Continued...
However, I like your style of communication and ability to make things more clear for me without over-teching me for the level of experience I'm currently at.
So saying, your review has been the most help for me. Thank you for that! My equipment is capable of using up to 6k. I don't know what I would do at this point with the 6k abilities, But I will definately use still photography and pixel shift images. I will also use of some 4k, and definitely UHD. But I would like to have the propper tools to work in the upper ranges of recording levels if the situation were to arise.
If I make a list of everything you have in this PC build video, so that I can get the parts as soon as possible, would you feel as though there are any changes to be made to from the components of your machine in the review, to possibly updated equipment, or any components that would better suit my needs. And if so, will you please tell me what should be changed? Or will that machine just smoke through anything that I might throw at it? Thank you very much!
Very respectfully,
Jason ("JW")
Great video Justin...as always. When you talk about your rendering speeds....so that I can compare, how long would it typically take you to render say 5mins of video in 4K and in HD?. Cheers mate, and have a great Christmas.
We'll have a video out really soon with a heap of info on the render times but it really comes down to what software you're using, how complex your timeline / edit is and if you're using GPU effects or not on your timeline too.
What the . I think Philip bloom just got this PC too. They are making the rounds.
Haha I literally just watched his video after posting this one.. it's definitely a real power house for editing though. His has some different specs too.
Not really the same. Quite a bit more powerful, actually. Don't get me wrong, this one is pretty powerful too. The one Bloom's got is just on another level.
Regarding volume levels, you mention how quiet it is which is great. But does it arc up to ugly levels under load? And even if it gets a little noisy when rendering, what about just under normal editing operation?
I'm building a pc with i7 9700 (3.00-4.6 GHz) processor. But im a bit confused about chosing its GPU. Nvidia gtx 1060ti or Radeon rx580? as I'm building a budget pc, which among these will be better for my device?
What role does the Cache in a CPU has? For example, which one will be faster and for what type of applications: the one with 3.5 GHz but 3MB cache or the one with 2.5 GHz but 6MB cache?
You may have answered this somewhere, but what would the total cost of this machine be if you were to purchase it yourself?
This one helps me so far.
Amazing! Thanks Kuya!
Hi Justin !Great video! I got a question.I have a 13” 2015 MacBook Pro. When streaming ( CZcams , Vimeo, etc) it is great, full HD, 4K all looks great. The problem I’m having is when I import videos from my cameras in Full HD 1920 by 1080 p.No matter what media player I use ( including Premiere Pro) the footage is degraded( not in full 1080p). The screen doesn’t support 1080p( although like I said works fine when watching CZcams), and it’s not possible to set the screen at that resolution. How do I solve this problem? Thanks. Jose
How big of an SSD do you recommend for the OS and applications?
@5:13 what label is that you're using? I know videohive sells similar ones, but I don't know what to search for. Thanks.
By 32gb RAM which do you mean ?is it vRAM or RAM,or is it summ of both ?
what about a good external hardr drive speaciialy for runing 4k videos like for example with sony vegas. is it convinient to work with a dedicated external hard drive ? and if it yes wich one do you recomend.
Thank you sir for this informative video.. but i am still a novice in the world of CZcams.. i do my editing in my mobile only as it is more convenient for me than using my laptop.. dont know if I am correct in doing so..do share your insight in this regard... Thank you once again...
I use Pinnacle Studio 23 (latest software) for video editing (have been editing for years). I want to buy a new PC (either a Dell Alien Ware of XPS for maximum performance BUT, I don't want it to be loud. Can you recommend which parts to stay away from to keep the volume down? Thanks. Rich
1. RAM (more ram is better + Faster Ram is Better) - don't go under 16GB
2. STORAGE (Set up multi Drive system - one is high speed and one is long and big file storage)
3. CPU (brain of computer - make sure to see what cpu is best match with editing software - spend most money in this area - get higher clock speed over a processor with more cores)
4. VIDEO CARD or GPU (the ram that is in the gpu’s is not that important for video editing so 2gb or 4gb will do fine)
5. MOTHERBOARD (is upgrading components easy with the particular components? - And is the motherboard flexible.. Meaning does it have enough ports )
6. CASE (make sure it can fit everything well)
I accidently broke my raid-o set-up and my drives were old so I recently bought three new drives (one ssd for boot/OS, and two 6TB for storage). If I were to build this pc part for part, how do I know if Sony Vegas Pro 12 and all my other programs already loaded on the ssd would work? I'm currently running Windows 7/64 but thinking about Win10.
Doesn't really matter who sponsored the video when the main point is what components you should be looking out for, not necessarily the brand.
I need Help , For Editing Video like Adobe Premiere Pro, Which better Grapichs Card , NVDIA or AMD ? Someone say NVDIA is Good cause CUDA CORE But other Forum Says AMD Cause Opencl. That make me confused.
Spec
i5-3470
8GB RAM
GTX 950 2GB
Its Enough for Adobe Premiere CC 2018 ?
Curious into building the same. Links don’t work. I want you guys to get credit for what I buy. Thanks
In the storage department you should mention the faster m.2 nvme drives, up to 8 times faster than a regular ssd...
So tell me what you think of the ASUS ROG GU502GV do you think its worth for a video editing laptop which I will be doing heavy video editing 4k 30p???....
I already know all these. But I watching 100 videos about the subject is 🔥
Nice! 🙌
