Btw "Saiya" as in "Super Saiyan" comes from the Japanese word "Yasai" (野菜) which means vegetables. So Saiyans have veggie-inspired names like Kakarot (carrots)

    Hi there,
I'm a 28 (almost 29) year-old gamer, and I just wanted to share how much I relate to the sentiments expressed in your video. I grew up during the boom of online gaming-so many LAN parties in middle and high school for Halo 3! However, competitive online games quickly consumed my gaming life. Game after game, I found myself exclusively playing these fun multiplayer shooters, only to witness the genre's decline, now riddled with micro-transactions and lacking content.
Today, I look at my gaming history and realize I have almost two decades of great single-player games to catch up on. I missed out on many major blockbuster titles due to my addiction to multiplayer shooters (godspeed all of the fortnite and roblox kiddos). Now, I have so much to catch up on that I don't even care about any new releases. By the time I'm caught up, there will be another myriad of "must-play" titles. Currently, I'm working through all the mainline Final Fantasy games and taking some palate-cleansers in between with shorter experiences (like Bioshock right now).
I've been gaming since I was a kid, so I've already played all the Kingdom Hearts titles (minus 3) on their original consoles and handhelds. I will ABSOLUTELY be replaying all of these (including 3) on my Steam Deck once the June release comes through. I have them all on PS4/5, but the simplicity of the Steam Deck checks all the boxes for my gaming needs today. My fiancée and I will be couch-gaming (our "together but separate" time) for the foreseeable future. I just recently got her a Switch, and watching her play Mario Kart and Animal Crossing makes me feel like a proud gamer; we've successfully converted another!
Cheers, and keep up the great content!

i feel you. i have so many singleplayer games in my backlog cause all i do is run multiplayer games with my friends. but with everyone getting more busy and covid not being a thing anymore, I can't rely on that type of experience anymore to have fun with video games. i got the yakuza series and im enjoying it so far

I sold all my gaming things a while back for a break, and now picked up a Miyoo Mini+. Been delving back into my childhood favourites and honestly I'm so much more enjoying the simplistic games. Going through Final Fantasy 7 again after 27 years and having a blast. Most modern games just left me feeling empty afterwards. Like they are always designed to keep me hooked with some sort of dopamine construct. It's why these old games are so amazing. They existed because they could, not as the sole reason to make money.

This is one reason I still return to some of my favorite games from 25+ years ago frequently. Playing the original FF7, 8, 9, 10, 12, Metal Gear, Morrowind etc.
It immediately transports me back to the days where my entire world was hangin’ with my friends, playin’ games, chillin’ by the pool at the YMCA in the summer. Everything was just fun, no responsibility, and none of the industry bullshit. It was an age of innocence, and pure fun.

As a dad, I don't usually have time for the Multi-player games. I do MAKE time for story driven games, as they draw me in, get me to care, and to me it's like reading a novel. A good story will make a game great. More so than graphics and frame rates. Good on you for deciding to just enjoy your hobby instead of chasing the next best thing!

I'm certainly not over here trying to plan my games around KH coming out on deck. I am beyond excited even tho I don't feel like it deserves it. But I don't care. It's what I want to play and what I want to have fun in. I'm trying to focus on the fun of gaming. It's become so...consumer based. I think that's the right word, but all people, myself included, focus on just consuming the game. I want to slow down and enjoy what I am playing. Hence me trying to beat ff7 by June 13th lol

i cant wait till every furniture around you is atomic purple. with an atomic purple plant and shirt.
This is also where i am at right now. There are too many games coming out that are not good due to the corporate greed. I remember enjoying games as they were. taking time to really take in the game and story. All in all, you get to a point where go go go isnt the way anymore. slow down, smell the flowers, love your pets, listen to the long winded conversations of your child, tell your family and parents you love them. Keep in simple and hold the core values tight. I have my steam deck and various other gaming outlets, but rarely play those. I am currently looking at my backlog and wont be buying anything else until i beat every game on it. I recently finished cyberpunk, now finishing outer worlds, next is LOZ windwaker.

At this point the only games that are “new” that excite me are the resident evil games. And half of what they do are part of the big Rs. Heck the games are referenced to as RE2make etc.

Thought I would watch the entire video before commening lol.
But I fully agree with you, sitting back and lets say being "ignorrance is bliss" and having a sense of wonder when we discover something new much like children is what we need and want to experience. I feel like the industry is now run by business men and number people instead of actual product people. Back in the day it was people who wanted to make games because they liked them, got into debt to produc it and take chances. Now the AAA is just microtransactions and the game is the life support. Games dont need to be a live service to keep being sold, take the big hits like elden ring, zelda and other great games that also do not neet to be connected to the internet. I feel the indie games industry is what the gaming industry use to be before the lost touch with the players and got taken over by the car sales man. But your video is great and does send a message and makes me want to take a step back even more in life and enjoy small things and get out of the fast pace having to keep up stress :)

From one gaming father / family man to another, thank you! This is a voice that hasn’t been as vocal for our generation! We are a different phase of life and gaming and this resonates deeply with where I’m at! There’s a few new age titles but I’m at the place where the familiar is becoming more of what I gravitate towards. Nintendo I haven’t fully indulged in since GameCube and I recently on pc got a Wii U emulator for breath of the wild and the games xenoblade chronicles x and downloaded in along with it the Mario game, yoshi, Mario cart 8 and wind walker hd and brought me back to fun of gaming. Though I will say as an adult the most impactful games have been disco Elysium and Elden ring for me!

Loved your last video about your daughter playing mario bros wonder which is very relatable to me since I have a daughter at the same age as well.
Loved this about just playing games without thinking deeply about everything. Just playing it for fun, without thinking I need to 100% everything. Not having that completion mentality and just casually playing for me is what I would prefer for myself, but can't make myself not try to 100%. 😂
