Lyrics
[Intro]
Oh misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin's sons
[Verse 1]
If this is to end in fire, then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out father oh, stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side
[Verse 2]
And if we should die tonight, we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father oh, prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
[Chorus]
Now I see fire, inside the mountain
I see fire, burning the trees
And I see fire, hollowing souls
I see fire, blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
[Verse 3]
Oh, should my people fall then surely I'll do the same
Confined in mountain halls, we got too close to the flame
Calling out father oh, hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
[Chorus]
Now I see fire, inside the mountain
I see fire, burning the trees
And I see fire, hollowing souls
I see fire, blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
[Bridge]
And if the night is burning, I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns then my brothers will die
And as the sky's falling down it crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground I hear my people screaming out
[Outro]
Now I see fire, inside the mountain
I see fire, burning the trees
I see fire, hollowing souls
I see fire, blood in the breeze
I see fire (oh you know I saw a city burning out)
I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin)
I see fire
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side - Zábava
This song has that "Prepare for the worst and hope for the best" feeling
As before taking covid genetic experiment!! 💉💉💉💉 😂😂😂
Religion will be the downfall and demise to our species. Prepare.
@@northstarmn Relgiom and fate in God have nothing in common! Prepare to fall and to accept devil as a god! Only people who believe in Jesus Christ will last forever!
Indeed, there is always hope. Just BELIEVE and HAVE FAITH.
@@ladywolverine1828 And take dna experiment 😂😂😂💉💉💉
I remember when this started playing in the theater after the movie ended. We were frozen.
I wish i could see it in theaters sadly i was too younf
I did the same!
We should get to see it yearly like people do the rocky horror picture show.

When you're at peace with possibly dying, yet you're encouraged with your brothers to fight to the end. It may not be a dragon, it could be any of the vicitudes of life one faces. But to face them with a loved one gives a strength and determination unmatched. Literal death loses its fear on you.
Exactly. This is why we as men are willing to go to war and die for our women and children. To die together as men.
Excellent comment!🌹💫🌹
Damn this was deep
Beautiful explanation…🙏
The fires on the west coast may have burned everything in the mountains and melted everything if it couldn't be burned
But we weathered the fires once the fires finally were extinguished we went back and rebuilt the fires were destructive yes but now the area has new life now
The guitar in this song is my favorite it's so soothing and calming
You have no idea what it means otherwise you would not be so soothing and calm. It was written for the movie The Lord of the rings. The Lord signified Satan / Lucifer and the rings signifies the ring of fire which is a ring of volcanoes. Those volcanoes are awakening now. Wait for the dark cold winter which will lead to global starvation. How unconscious you are.
@@kamikazitsunami Uh, what? True the song was written for The Lord of The Rings. But the Lord being Satan, and volcanoes??? I think you need to read the books again and/or watch the movies.
@@kamikazitsunamiOh so now people can’t like songs that have a darker meaning?
Yap . Me too
@@kamikazitsunami you must be fun at parties
I’m leaving this comment here so after a month or a year when someone likes it I’ll get reminded of this song❤️
I'm leaving this comment because it has been 5 months and nobody has commented yet to remind you of this song.
My family watched lord of the rings over and over when i was younger, this song brings me a sense of home and family. Truly beautiful music that i cannot express my appreciation for.
Same. Same.
@Sophie Ewert i always do this, The Hobbit is the movie i was referring to but i love LOTR as a whole!
Same here, the lotr characters are like family to me since they’ve been in my life since I was around 4 or 5 :’)
My brother in laws dad is dying in hospice and I saw the first Hobbit with him ten years ago and this song reminds me of it. In 34 so I’m growing older and older and losing people as I age
Yess I always watched the Hobbit or Lord of the rings with my dad when we drove to his house (I only see my dad about three times a year and he lives four hours away from us) and it was always our quality time. I can watch it a million times and never get bored of the plot or the characters. This song gets me emotional every time. Love my dad for that.
Who is watching 2024 like this comment

@@Chilly_1no he didn't but his ancestor and previous lord of Dale, Girion did, by breaking off one of Smaug's scales, thereby allowing Bard to shoot through the gap in his armour.
This man's voice is a gift.

Unique ❤. It touch my heart.
I hope someone reads this comment, and understands what i'm about to say.
I heard this song right after the fires burning throughout all of Australia from 2019 to 2020.
This song won't hit many the same way it does watching thousands of people lose their homes, and seeing fire surrounding your entire city, waiting for it to advance on it, and destroy everything you own, and everyone you know living in your city, knowing the flames were too powerful to be able to be stopped.
I just listened to it again for the first time in a year and a half. I still pour tears from my eyes. As ALL the lyrics match the Australian bushfire better than anything I've ever heard. It was the worst bush fire in recorded Australian history... Then the amazon forest suffered the same fate around the same time.
The lyrics of the song hit my in the heart so hard.... every time i write a "-" it's me explaining what each lyric not only makes me think about, but remember and revisualise in my mind.
We watched the flames burn auburn on the mountains all around us. - We literally did, over and over.
Desolation came from the sky, - due to the wind uplifting the red hot embers and dropping them back down into towns, onto homes, onto wildlife, and just those alone incinerated almost everything they blew over.
We saw fire, inside all the mountains around us. Saw fire, burning the trees. - for up to 6 months AFTER the fire ended, trees were smouldering from the INSIDE out, and would collapse at any given moment.
I see fire hollowing souls - Not to mention the people cooked alive by the fire itself, or die from smoke inhalation, the loses of homes, family members, friends, property and belongings people worked either their whole lives for, sometimes generations worth of work.... wiped out in a flash of unimaginable heat. the fires spread so fast you couldn't outrun them.... If the wind was bad, you couldn't outdrive the fires, and for those who didn't die, many were mere shells of the people they once were after this horrible event... I see fire.... hollowing souls.
I see fire.... Blood in the breeze - tens of millions of wildlife, pets, and many people burnt to death, and when your city is shrouded in thick, toxic, barely breathable smoke, you KNOW that there was blood in that smoke... LOTS of it.
I hope that you remember me - Watching the endless memorials for all those that lost their lives. Or those who once had a lovely home, had become homeless, and some of them were forgotten about... to be left homeless.
I could keep breaking down more lyrics and what they mean to me as they came out right after the Australian bush fires. But i'm already in too many damn tears as it is writing what i have.
I know this song was written for the desolation of smaug, but it is the most fitting song i've ever heard for how the fires hit us.
I've been lucky with bush fires twice now, my house and belongings still stand. Wish i could say the same for my family. It wasn't the fire that did them in. Cancer, strokes, mental disorders. I cared for my father as he died of prostate, bone and lung cancer, trying to keep the smoke from the bushfires out of the house to stop it making his lung cancer more unbearable.
The Worst bush fire in Australian history named Black Summer officially ended on the 31st of march, 2020... 5 months later my father finally died to cancer on the 24th of October. 2 months later my Uncle, dads brother, died of a stroke. making me the last of my family line of my name.
What a horrible year.
I remember the feeling of dread when I saw that the fires where everywhere. We were surrounded by it in this large ring of fire. It was a horrid experience
War is a pivot of human evil.
It is inevitable nature of soulless, mindless and heartless beings. Machine.
It is a fire that they breathe in and the fire they can only breath out. Dragon.
Corruption of human being that is nurtured by evil, goes deep and it is complex. And many do not recognize the threads of spiders web.
Incompetence will grow as result. And fires will spread, all along the net.
Because few will listen and even fewer are the wise.
God bless you.
I had never heard this song I heard it the other night I did not know about the fire in Australia I took it he was talking about Armageddon and the end of this world I love this song but I’m so sorry for all that lost I’m so sorry
I feel you man the fires in oregon my God they were massive and the burned hot enough to melt metal our sleepy town of Jefferson why it never was touched it could have been as if the two fires up in Detroit (it's a heavy wooded area in oregon home to the Detroit reservoir and dam mountains and trees for miles) converged Jefferson a small town there would be no town just smoldering ash only the rain could stop them but it took until at least October for the rains to come but for 1 day the sky turned black and my God that has made that one of the worst days knowing your home would be rubble by the whims of nature
This made me cry! I am so sorry for your loss and I feel with everyone, human and animal, who had to go through this. It is unimaginable :(
One person I want to thank is J.R Tolkien for creating the world he did to not only allow people to get lost in it but also provide the inspiration to fans of his work to make amazing music like this. Because with out Tolkien we never would have gotten this song.
So very true. He could not have known that one day we would be moved and inspired by his writings. You just never know how your actions affect others years later. This song is powerful and calming, sad yet inspiring.
the songs perfect for a cozy night, while looking at the stars or city lights

I personally think the Song is written in the pov of thorin oakenshield (the dwarf King in Hobbit) and his back Story makes this song even more tragic. I love it 💙
He wrote it for the movie and for peter jackson
The first time I heard this song, it felt very familiar. I was around 9 years old and my brother was only 13, he had this song on his earphones and gave me to listen with him. We were on boat going to spain, I repeated this song over and over and over and couldn't understand why I loved it so much. After years looking for it I finally found it, I'm now 17 years old, and my brother's gone, my longing to know why this song felt so familliar will only continue to grow stronger. I miss you
I'm most sorry for your brother. I hope your family is all right
I love this comment R.I.P for your brother and have a good day/night!
VERY TOUCHING

This song reminds me of my late Brother.

My granddaughter is dancing a solo choreographed open dance routine to this song….so powerful
this is like my third time watching this today and it’s only 10:50am
This is the first and last song played by my brother in-front of me before he pass away. Wherever you are J, you’ll always be remembered
A close friend of mine while we were driving down the interstate randomly started singing as I put this on… I didn’t know at the moment in time he could actually sing and let me just say this. He truly sang this song from his soul
This song brings an incredible sense of wholeness and union
I know people hate on the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings movies, but I adore them. They're simply amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So sad, but so heart warming!🥰😢
'True courage is not when to take a life, but to know when to spare one"

If we should die tonight, then we will all die together. Thats some real heavy shit....
This is my first song on my chemo playlist. Perfect for focus and hope❤
We had a fire when I was a child. Something wrong with the wiring in the house. My Mom got us all out. I remember her carrying me out, like a football. When we were in the car backing out of the driveway, I remember looking up at this big tree, completely a blaze. I remember that when I hear this song. And I will cover my eyes . . .
I remember this was my favoruite song in like the 3rd grade😭 I was so proud of myself that I watched the Hobbit at age 8😭 and I we were pretending to be dragons at the playground❤️
Hahaha that's gold. I'm so glad I was a child in the 80s and 90s when no social media dogshit was around
I was proud of that as well!I can't remember when I first watched LoTR but for sure I was very young, and same for The Hobbit.
I see Ed Sheeran’s song is on fire 🔥
No, it SEES fire!
This song makes me want to cry and smile at the same time
I literally had the same sort of thought! "It makes me happy to feel sad"
This song is immortal to me.
The voice, the lyrics,the music.
The emotions it makes you feel.
Ed Sheeran's voice! The memories i have .
Everything!
I remember when the movie end.
I left the cinema,i start walking, through the park, with the trees, and a litle lake
It was a cold winter's night ,with fog
And it was kinda dark. There was some lights but not so bright!
It was a really good night,
And i was with people i love.
Happy 2023 everyone.😇😇
WOW I love this story…❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
The build up and climax though. Woo!
I heard this song for the first time in 2019 when I completed high. I was going through a hard time and this song used to calm me down. Music was, is and will always be therapy.
Favourite till now .the guitar just adds magic and mist .
What a song, the way it goes on and on, a feeling of home, a truth needing to be known.
so soothing
guuu
This hits different now..
I have a different take on it. Caught in an indefensible position,
you know the assault will come in the predawn twilight.
The last hour's on earth are with your brother's, they're all you have left.
@Sophie Ewert: Iive a life that has experiences more powerful than anything you could ever see on screen & then you may understand.
@Sophie Ewert: What are you talking about ? Because you can't relate to something...your a better person ?
I feel.you. I understand.
Waters my eyes every time... Goosebumps... Shaking...
I love this song. It makes me teary eyed tho
As somebody who suffers from severe anxiety to the point that when I hear the rumbling of a plane passing overhead, I literally freeze and brace for the impact of the coming shockwave that is going to kill us all, I find the song very comforting for all the wrong reasons.
Cool but the earth will explode in 5 seconds
I'm just curious but you wouldn't happen to be from NYC would you? Near the twin towers? Just from your comment it's the first thing I thought of.
This is so amazing song it's just stuck in my head everywhere I go
Thank you so much for making an absolutely great music video. I really appreciate that the lyrics show up right before the artist starts singing. I always love to sing along to songs and it drives me nuts when the lyrics are delayed. I hope your channel does great and best wishes 👍👍🔥🔥🔥🤟🤟
Hobbit is the best movie adaptation Ever made ..... better than books
although the books were really really good, so this is a true masterpiece of a movie adaption
This beautiful song makes me so emotional! 😢
Love this song
Ed Sheeran: "I see fire"
Me: *calls the fire department*
🤣🤣🤣🤣
lowkey tempted to make a dsaf animatic with this
Ed's voice, along with these deep lyrics hit me hard. Devastation followed by Hope
Your voice... A gift from the god to us
Nothing about this song is comforting.
It's not really meant to be. It's about an entire people losing their home and loved ones to destruction and death. The song is literally their cries of desperation and sadness as they watch their ancestral home burn. It's also about their anger at this injustice, as their inner "fire" is set alight, alluding to the fact that they will hold a deep-seeded grudge against all responsible for the rest of their lives.
Honestly, the songwriter was a genius with this one. It tells the story and the emotions of the dwarves really, *really* well.
This song reminds me of my Army Battles...Love and Miss them so much💚🦾
I love this song so much ❤
Best song by far
That I’ve heard on this planet 🔥👌🌎
Check out Brothers in arms by Dire Straits
I just wanted a first of all thank the person that posted this and posted it at the audible volume that it should be played at thank you very much. And I heard Ed Sheeran sing this live at the BOK Center and now man can sing he's very talented artist I also think that that song is very fitting for the war unfortunately and I hope it brings helps bring some peace.
This is a great song-
THAT FUCKIN WHISTLE OR WHATEVER TF AT THE END🔥🔥😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😩😩😩
I I love the song so much it just makes me want to sing
lol we kinda same. Inspired me to sing and pick up the guitar again :)
The first time I heard this song was after watching Desolation of The Smaug when I was 10 years old…..this will forever be one of my favorite songs and LOTR/The Hobbit will always be my favorite movies and books. I’m imagining this sing in either Thorin, Kili, or Fili’s POV’s lol. Either one would fit.
Also like- the PURE EMOTION I feel when I hear this song……I love it so much……❤
Yes, this is an expectation of the worst but hoping for the best kind of song. I think that this is a really spiritual song written by Ed Sheeran, but I see the spirits in the dark speaking through him in it. The world is set to change drastically very soon, perhaps, even devastatingly for those caught in the web of darkness in the depths of the criminal underground and otherwise. I would also say that this song pertains to the souls of those who have known they have done wrong but could not help it, being so caught in the evil operations and activities for so long. Their sinful behavior and reactions had driven them deep into the figurative underground, though many had retreated into the literal underground as well. Their nature is of fear, of sensual hunger, and everything that needs to thrive in darkness. But, they know their time is short. They see the signs everywhere, even if they do so subconsciously. Songs such as this are indicative of this realization. In a way, this song is another song of lamentation (there are many such songs) of the anticipated end of their world. Their glory days are coming to a close, but our glory days are coming. I see fire can be the fires of hell, but I think it refers also to the Holy Fire of our Holy Father in Heaven. This Fire is to come over the whole of Earth, even under mountains, to burn up the dark and dirty things that have kept humanity from thriving spiritually.
Buddy it's about the dragon fire raining down from Smaug in the Hobbit. It's very literal in that sense, they literally see fire coming down on the mountain, the nearby city burning, it's a very literal perspective, probably from Thorin Oakenshield, as he was the dwarves leader
This is by Far the Best comment EVER!!!! God Bless YOU.... MIC DROP 🎤 If you Don't choose Jesus on Earth you will in Hell 🔥 And ..it will be too late.
You do know this is a song written for a movie with a DRAGON in it right? It’s not religious.
I aint reading all this shit tell in short

When I hear this song it give me flash back of my fiance. I been listening to this song on repeat 6 -8 hrs everyday

Not one dislike on this song?!Truly something indeed!
I miss Ed Sheeran 💙
🤩I love this song I'm a led zeppelin lady I have no idea who this is except bits and pieces from cable tv but love the lyrics beautiful lyrics pretty good boy love from Tracy Lakeland Florida
I like the Ed Sheeran did a harmony with his own voice on this song, but unless you have a harmony playing along with your own voice, you cannot sing it. It’s like Simon and Garfunkel his Muse in creating such a song.
This always reminds me of the sympathetic and sorrowful end of the movie *The Hobbit*
This song is one of my favorite Ed Sheeran songs this song and celestial it's very calming

Nice song
This reminds me of how some people would hurt others but the music would hold that emotion
I love this songgggg
My mom is a fairly devout Catholic, and when I was a kid she'd tell me bible stories all the time. Including armageddon. That one always upset me so deeply and made me develop a deep fear of the end of the world. I'm not paranoid about it happening all the time or anything, it's just that the theories on how it could happen deeply upset me. And this was made worse when she broke the news to me that, according to Catholicism at least, no non-Christian no matter how good they are, can go to heaven or get raptured. Which is why I'm no longer Christian. And since I had heard this song before ever watching or reading anything related to The Hobbit or LOTR, my interpretation of this song was about everyone who got left behind during the rapture and having to suffer Armageddon. That the people who would be left behind in that scenario are victims in every way, just trying to stand together and make hell not feel so painful.
Sometimes you like the melody, sometimes you understand the lyrics.
