“If this is to end in fire, then we should all burn together.” - Thorin Oakenshield I can’t believe it’s almost been five years since Battle of Five Armies was released... good times.
This is a perfect song, as it shows the horrific destruction and tragedy of fire, as it rises in intensity and power so do the vocals, but that fire isn’t evil, it’s Nature, and Nature is unsympathetic.

i remember seeing this in theaters when i was like 13-14. the end with bilbo saying "what have we done" then going right into this song STILL gives me goosebumps son. thats how a cliffhanger is done 👌
My favorite part: "and if the night is burning I will cover my eyes cause if the dark return then my brothers will die... And we that shadow upon the ground and here my people scream..." Gives me chills
You missed my favorite part! "And as the sky's falling down, it crashed into this lonely town" the metaphor and the way he sings it is hauntingly beautiful😭
Came back here after watching the Rings of Power because I just wanted to feel once again the same feeling that it gave me when I heard this song... oh and it's just as Powerful as ever... Thank u Ed .... 2023 and still hits me in the right place 😢
I can still remember when Ed Sheeran shared in one of his interviews that he was a bit drunk when he received a short noticed email to do the music for this movie. Glad he happens to open his email and work on the music (and even finish it, if I remember it right) that same night.
Ed said in an interview that he was called by Peter Jackson to write the song but had like 2 weeks to do it.... Peter showed Ed a preview of the movie and Ed wrote a song based on what he just seen.... Mad talent
I believe there is something similar to the known "runner's high" in the creative world. When Ed saw the preview, it must have been so emotional and deep that it fueled his heart to create something astonishing within a short period of time. As I can speak for myself, this rarely happens. But when you are at this "creative high", then you can build something without taking a break or losing quality.
I generally don't care much about Ed Sheeran, but I went to the cinema and when the movie was over and this song started, I remained in the room until the very last chord just as if the movie itself wasn't finished yet, and all the way back home it was in my mind as if i went to the cinema more because of the song than of the movie. Simply amazing. And great movie too, of course.
I'll be honest, I've never really been an Ed fan - just not my style of music usually. But this song? Gives me goosebumps every time. This thing is a masterpiece.
Ed real style is Folk song. But in order to relevant that man try to go another music in many genre , like rap, rnb, pop, anything. That man is musician . Not some singer . Sorry for my bad english
And to me this is what you call a timeless artist who is multifaceted and went somewhere else and that was beautiful I was also a goosebumps and chills
Of course you can. Being Anonymous is a state of mind. It only requires that you educate yourself, be aware and ready to make positive differences. Wish you the best. Anonymous changes everything.

alex van dijk Definitely Bilbo.
I am fairly sure it's about Bilbo, have you heard him sing?!?
I didn’t know you listen to Ed Sheeran
Still the best Ed Sheeran song🙌

Hey itichi you are an akatsuki member and you think this song is good you are a gooood brother for sasuke and I think like you this song is great
It’s hard to explain but this song is perfect! If I ever have children, I’ll use this song as a lullaby.
Damn That boy is good
Doctor: you only have 4 minutes left to live.
Me: play I See Fire.
Doctor: thats almost five minutes.
God: its okay
Respect🤯🤯
Good God
I will be singing as I die
But I said 4 minutes...Aw, fine!
This is it... The revelation from God himself...
Nobody will ever be able to explain to me why this song didn't win an Oscar also.
Grammy you mean?
@@mo0on487
Well, I meant when the movie was up for Oscars, I thought it should win for song from the movie. However, any awards were deserved.

This is a perfect song, as it shows the horrific destruction and tragedy of fire, as it rises in intensity and power so do the vocals, but that fire isn’t evil, it’s Nature, and Nature is unsympathetic.
Not all facets of nature are unsympathetic friend
9 years later and it’s still one of the best songs
yes it is my friend TX infinity balance

When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and then jail. I now have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - In The Moment” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. I just want to send love to everyone and I want everyone to know things will get better. We are in this together..I love you 💕🎉
i remember seeing this in theaters when i was like 13-14. the end with bilbo saying "what have we done" then going right into this song STILL gives me goosebumps son. thats how a cliffhanger is done 👌
Same- almost 10 years ago-
Yeah I know that the hobbit movies won’t be on par with the LOTR movies but they are great in their own way
@@ljevans3156 Really? I'd say the hobbit is better in my opinion
@@micheraWasTaken The first LOTR trilogy is considered by many as the greatest fantasy films ever created

Facts
To me the best stanza is "And if we should die tonight Then we should all die together Raise a glass of wine for the last time..."
I love "hollowing souls" and "blood in the breeze", the tone he sings them. It's as if he was merely describing his dinner.
I love this song!!!!! The Hobbit is my favorite movie ❤
Came back here after watching the Rings of Power because I just wanted to feel once again the same feeling that it gave me when I heard this song... oh and it's just as Powerful as ever... Thank u Ed .... 2023 and still hits me in the right place 😢
Dieses Lied fasziniert mich seit Jahren obwohl nicht ein einziges Mal den Film gesehen habe 😢
I can still remember when Ed Sheeran shared in one of his interviews that he was a bit drunk when he received a short noticed email to do the music for this movie. Glad he happens to open his email and work on the music (and even finish it, if I remember it right) that same night.

This is still a song with a magical sound
It's been 10 years. Congrats 🎉
Ed said in an interview that he was called by Peter Jackson to write the song but had like 2 weeks to do it.... Peter showed Ed a preview of the movie and Ed wrote a song based on what he just seen.... Mad talent
huh, I thought the lyrics came from the books, I guess I was misinformed lol
@@SlynxX. I believe Ed said he had read the books aswell, now I'm not 100% on that, but it would make sense why the lyrics are accurate
@@SlynxX. but the song itself was wrote by Ed
@@randomer6606 and in less than one day, Ed was very inspired
I believe there is something similar to the known "runner's high" in the creative world. When Ed saw the preview, it must have been so emotional and deep that it fueled his heart to create something astonishing within a short period of time. As I can speak for myself, this rarely happens. But when you are at this "creative high", then you can build something without taking a break or losing quality.
I can't explain the feelings.
Satisfaction, sadness and nostalgia all combined.
Ya love to feel it tho
Neither do I
This is so nostalgic
There is no need to explain anything :) We already know.
Remember the truth woven into legend friends.
This song have a special place in my heart.
it always makes me happy and emotional
I generally don't care much about Ed Sheeran, but I went to the cinema and when the movie was over and this song started, I remained in the room until the very last chord just as if the movie itself wasn't finished yet, and all the way back home it was in my mind as if i went to the cinema more because of the song than of the movie. Simply amazing. And great movie too, of course.
I feel the same way. I'm not really a fan of this type of music but this song is different for me
Yes. yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Same here, its amazing!
+Lucas Montenegro did we watch the same movie? stop being a fan boy and say it sucked
+Stephen Derocher fuck you
ExoticMonkey02 GOT ME THERE BRO... GOOD COME BACK... ILL USE THAT ONE LATER
Same I don't like eds music but this is amazing
It is nice, isn't it?!
And to me this is what you call a timeless artist who is multifaceted and went somewhere else and that was beautiful I was also a goosebumps and chills
Nor am I but I like this song. Though it was created to fit a certain style and the movie so it's not like his other stuff
Ed Sheeran's voice feels heavenly and its like a drug
I always tear when i hear this song..

The Hobbit; underrated trilogy
I see fire; ed's underrated song
It is because people compare Hobit to the LotR . And nothing can compare to LotR.
@@Manysdugjohn You should know that there is nothing to compare. Both the Trilogies are made by the same Director. I myself like LOTR better but TH isn't that bad as people manifest it.
@@HayDayEveryday That is exactly what I am saying. People expected the hobbit to be as good as the LOTR .. but nothing can be as good as LOTR.
As a trilogy LOTR is better, but as the book, other way around.
@@nikolaykravtsev3705 I have no idea about the books.. but we are talking about movies here.
I feel like the people of gaza are the one's who meant in each verse ☹️💔

Gaza will shine bright again and we ask ed sheeran to sing (i see freedom) ❤
Who with me??!! ♥️
This song really shows the lyrical, melodic and vocal power of ed sheeran. Will always be one of my favorites
I can't believe this is 3 years old.
I don't understand where the fuck the time goes, man.
J Stone ikr I guess time goes by faster then we think
J Stone don't blink. It will be another 3 before you realize.
It's crazy. Just in general though, when I think about that I only have around 2 years before I'm done with my bachelor makes me really think. I don't really feel like a grownup who's ready to join the workforce. I still feel like a young student who knows nothing (aka Jon Snow).
It gets faster the older you get. Make the most of it while you are young.
Felt like it was last year tbh
