- You can never have enough clamps right?
Absolutely, but storing them can be a nightmare, so in this video I utilise some wasted space right above my head in an attempt to sort my clamp storage out and continue bringing my workshop up to scratch. Oh, and have a little fun with editing.
Pipe can be acquired here.

Finally a different idea for clamps storage 👍
Never thought of that way, using the other end of the clamp. My problem was loosing a lot of space on my French cleat wall, and it’s the only wall available to store it. I have a high ceiling so I have to use a longer 2x2 to extended it down to where I can reach it without grunting. Thank you Sir for the idea…..
Great idea, simple but neat.my first thought was without dust collection in my shop yet, what a dust collector?
Nice solution!
Not only was this a great video and even enjoyable to watch but this is by far the best design for clamp storage (for my garage anyway) that I have seen. I was about to start a standard wall storage design (and then move tons of things around to find a wall to put it on) when I came upon your video. I'll be working on a similar design soon, thanks for sharing!
Hi KS, glad it will help. 👍
Excellent video and process
I generally enjoyed watching your video. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Hi David, thank you. 😎
This is exactly the video I needed. Thank you so much for sharing your idea.
Hi Paul, you're welcome. 👍
Cracking idea and so simple 👍
Thanks Mike. 👍
Fantastic idea, my workshop is a 12x8 shed and I have to maximise every square inch I can. 👍🏻
Very clever and nicely done!
Thank you Jay. 👍
Enjoyable and informative as always, Thanks and keep them coming.
Thanks WildWood 👍
Did you glue the pipes in place? If so what king of glue? Great idea, I build one this weekend but some of the pipes slide in and out so need to affix them somehow…
Hi John, no, mine are just friction fit, but you could use a small screw, or Cyano, or UhU. 👍
New subscriber here, really enjoying this channel, 40 years as a cabinetmaker but always learning everyday.
Hi Si Cr, WOW! I am humbled in your presence sir. I was lucky enough to visit the garden workshop of a time served Cabinet Maker years ago, everything in his shop was hand made, his workbench was better than my current kitchen, beautiful. I feel I may never acheive that level of excellence, but I'll die trying. 😁 Now I'm going to feel Really self conscious in the next Vid. I can feel a respectful mention coming on. 👍😎
@@GTWoodshop Bless you mate, from what I've seen of your videos so far you've an awful lot to be proud of, very talented with a great sense of humour to boot!... All the best to you going forward!
@@sicr7373 Thank you. 👍😊
Nice implementation, i work in my cellar so have a "sky" full of clamp storage, most of which I forget I have until I look up lol
Ah, open beams for storage, I am envious Sir. 😁👍
@@GTWoodshop It's good for clamps but hard to turn sheets of mdf over when it's in a 3ft high bench to start with 😁
@@alland1241 🤣🤣👍
Terrific idea.
Hi Jerry, thank you. 😊
Brilliant idea 👏👏
Brilliant! And it looks good too.
Hi Briman, thank you. 😁👍
great idea
Hi Jim, thanks. 👍
If the pipe was level, you could put a clamp in from either side ie 2 clamps per tube. (Wrote that before I saw the final product. Didn't realise that it'd be that close to the wall, or going in that direction)
True, but I'd have to bring it out from the wall further.
That's a very good solution for clamp storage~! I'd like to use it, but my ceilings are too high for practical storage (12'). Thanks for sharing~!
Hi Andrew, wow 12 ft ceilings. What an amazing space, that's almost enough for a 2nd floor. What about a suspended clamp ram???
@@GTWoodshop Yeah, I was able to graduate from 12'x12' sheds and single-car garages after retiring from the Army. Only took me 10 years to get into a steel-sided pole barn (30'x40'). I considering building a raised platform on one end for storage. Also, my ceiling isn't closed, but rather open to the 5 steel trusses that hold the roof. Suspending things is tricky. ;-)
@@andrewbrown8148 Sounds like a fabulous challenge. 😁😁
Love it -- another idea I will have to steel
Hi George, please do, its saved me so much room on the walls. 👍
Very nice!!
Hi Lucy, thank you. 😎👍
@@GTWoodshop I like your clever ideas and teaching style! Keep up the good work! I look forward to learning!
@@thelwood You to kind. 😁😁😁
Great job (cant say the same for the other fellow)
Thanks Arthur 👍, got me on the other fellow ?? 🤔🤔
Great work Sir!! - I have tons of 4ft and longer pipe clamps (heavy) - what suggestions do you have to take your plan and apply to Heavy pipe clamps?
Why did u need the pipes? Could it work with just the 2 boards. Front and back? With clamps going thru them without pipes?
Hi Hugo, without the pipes I would have to try and thread the clamp through into the hole in the back board. With the pipe I don't need to worry, its effortless to put the clamps away. You've seen what I can do to my workshop so I need to make putting stuff away as easy as poss. 🤣🤣
@@GTWoodshop really like your design. I was amazed you were able to align them so well.
I’m Setting up my shop now. The clamp storage solution you came up with is the best I’ve seen so far. I Need to noodle that 🧠. Thinking of angling the handle 45 degrees to reduce vertical space requirement.
@@hdwoodshop Hi Hugo, thanks. Let me know what you come up with, two heads are better than one. 👍🤔
