  • You can never have enough clamps right?
    Absolutely, but storing them can be a nightmare, so in this video I utilise some wasted space right above my head in an attempt to sort my clamp storage out and continue bringing my workshop up to scratch. Oh, and have a little fun with editing.
    Pipe can be acquired here.

    Finally a different idea for clamps storage 👍

    Never thought of that way, using the other end of the clamp. My problem was loosing a lot of space on my French cleat wall, and it’s the only wall available to store it. I have a high ceiling so I have to use a longer 2x2 to extended it down to where I can reach it without grunting. Thank you Sir for the idea…..

    Not only was this a great video and even enjoyable to watch but this is by far the best design for clamp storage (for my garage anyway) that I have seen. I was about to start a standard wall storage design (and then move tons of things around to find a wall to put it on) when I came upon your video. I'll be working on a similar design soon, thanks for sharing!

      Hi Si Cr, WOW! I am humbled in your presence sir. I was lucky enough to visit the garden workshop of a time served Cabinet Maker years ago, everything in his shop was hand made, his workbench was better than my current kitchen, beautiful. I feel I may never acheive that level of excellence, but I'll die trying. 😁 Now I'm going to feel Really self conscious in the next Vid. I can feel a respectful mention coming on. 👍😎

    If the pipe was level, you could put a clamp in from either side ie 2 clamps per tube. (Wrote that before I saw the final product. Didn't realise that it'd be that close to the wall, or going in that direction)

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop  Před 3 lety

      True, but I'd have to bring it out from the wall further.

    That's a very good solution for clamp storage~! I'd like to use it, but my ceilings are too high for practical storage (12'). Thanks for sharing~!

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop  Před 2 lety

      Hi Andrew, wow 12 ft ceilings. What an amazing space, that's almost enough for a 2nd floor. What about a suspended clamp ram???

    • @andrewbrown8148
      @andrewbrown8148 Před 2 lety +1

      @@GTWoodshop Yeah, I was able to graduate from 12'x12' sheds and single-car garages after retiring from the Army. Only took me 10 years to get into a steel-sided pole barn (30'x40'). I considering building a raised platform on one end for storage. Also, my ceiling isn't closed, but rather open to the 5 steel trusses that hold the roof. Suspending things is tricky. ;-)

    Great work Sir!! - I have tons of 4ft and longer pipe clamps (heavy) - what suggestions do you have to take your plan and apply to Heavy pipe clamps?

  • @hdwoodshop
    @hdwoodshop Před 3 lety +1

    Why did u need the pipes? Could it work with just the 2 boards. Front and back? With clamps going thru them without pipes?

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Hugo, without the pipes I would have to try and thread the clamp through into the hole in the back board. With the pipe I don't need to worry, its effortless to put the clamps away. You've seen what I can do to my workshop so I need to make putting stuff away as easy as poss. 🤣🤣
