    This is a great expansion on what the game tells everyone when they start up Sport Mode. Unfortunately it’s still a war zone in D lobbies, where I’ll literally get punted by P1 as they lap me. Because they can, simple as that. Hell on earth man.

    Great video topic brother. Hope it helps some of the mess. I ended up giving up like 5 spots on the Manufacturer Cup race Saturday. They were just faster, my hand was hurting and going numb, so I couldn't keep my 3 spot. I move over and raced as fast as possible which ended 8th. But clean, And they passed clean . Good stuff man.

      Yeah, it takes a little getting used to when switching seats. Something flat screen drivers don't have to worry about, but it's also what makes VR so awesome!

    Nice video Cas.. very difficult track as its so tight and narrow. A lot of trust in each other required, i think a bit of side by side rubbing is almost unavoidable around there at times, i think we were rubbing wing mirrors in the first race when i went down the inside of you after i waited for someone after the pack backed up in front of me into turn 1. But its not making the corner on the brakes or still pushing the exits and not leaving a cars width thats the biggest issue in dailies when you just get squeezed off the track that's the issue.. being punted from behind doesn't happen so much further up the lobbies, you just don't get room..i think there was another instant when i could see a late braker coming on the hairpin over the back so i left it open and then cut back inside..
    It was a good test, mostly pretty clean from what i see..hopefully this continues and we will all get used to each other.. i enjoyed it..

      I know each instance from race 1 that you are talking about. 😁
      In higher lobbies, punting isn't as often, but it's definitely there. Especially if you're going 3 to 4 deep or more. The further back a car is, the earlier they need to break as things start piling up, but oftentimes, they don't go in thinking that. In lower lobbies, you're expecting to get punted every time a car is behind you, even if not on purpose as those drivers usually don't have the driving skills yet and are not thinking about forgetting their break markers and driving with the car in front of them to avoid contact.
      As for side by side racing, If don't see a full car width in the inside, and I can't slow my car down enough to hug the inside with control if the spot is given, I'll usually just follow the car in front instead using them to slow my car down and push them out. Sure, I won't gain the spot, but I'll just try again at another turn to beat them. In higher lobbies, if you leave an inch on the inside, almost all the time, someone is driving it in there.

      @@thecasualracinggamer yes in racing in general you are either defending the inside or your not, Sena's quote that a race driver who no longer goes for a gap is no longer a race driver is over used but even in your replay someone left a gap I braked into, hugged the curb as tight as I could but we still rubbed.. it's no good leaving an exact car width on entry then trying to defend it by leaving an exact car width all the way round the corner, there will be contact, once someone is on the inside any race driver will tell you it's now there corner, its courteous to give the guy on the outside a car width on exit incase they want to try and hold it round the outside but not expected. Even if F1 someone like Max once he is there he probably isn't going to. But drivers like that race with each other every week and no what to expect, we don't, that's why I said about trusting each other to either defend or if you are going to leave space it needs to be reasonable space as someone will take it.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  Před měsícem

      In GT7, we don't have spotters like we do in iRacing. Oftentimes, we don't know if a car is trying to dive bomb the inside until they hit you. It's the car in the backs' responsibility to avoid contact and shouldn't need to use the other cat as their breaks to make the corner. Also, in GT7, more often than not, people like to take and not give. After the turn that you took the inside on me, approaching the next right-hander, I didn't have a good view where you were and was not sure if you could see me so I checked up to give you the corner. I know you had a better pace than me, so I didn't see a point to battle the spot there. I take when I think I can get, and I give where I know I should.

      @@thecasualracinggamerfrom memory it was pretty similar to the one in the video but you may of stayed there a bit longer.. there is always going to be slight mis judgements and everybody will define things differently. A dive bomb in my opinion is breaking from way back too late missing the apex. The car in front can give you a pretty clear indication what they are intending to do which is one of 2 things brake late (normally)going in wide on the racing line or move over and defend early braking a bit earlier which still gives you a good exit. The one in the replay was neither it was just a wide line and braking early, I braked making the apex but I can't touch the curb under braking there or I would slam into him and you can't use the curb on exit as I'd take us both out so I can only hug the white line and accelerate late to give him room if he wants to stay.. And yes if you had stayed you would have had room.. although it is a tight track I have been through side by side from turn 1 to the hairpin over the back which becomes your corner again.. if you are sensible but decisive it can be done around there.. I didn't see any major wipeouts during the race but I forgot to save the replay, it seemed pretty good for VR around such a tight track I thought 👍. What's up next time? Something wider with a pit stop ?? 🤣

    Either people in these lobbies don't drive in real life or they are just asshats. I instinctively avoid rear end collisions and contact. Especially in VR I feel like I'm in a car. I never use brake markers when close. If a person is in front, I downshift and use engine braking instead of losing momentum by using the brakes..

    Part of that race that you didn’t show highlighted exactly what you were talking about. I was taken out on the final hairpin of the track because someone dive bombed the inside. In the end, they apologized and it was all good, it just stinks that I spent the rest of the race out of the pack, alone, on the opposite side of the track. Still had fun, and hope to join the next one.

      I purposely left some stuff out of this video and didn't want to call anyone out here. I actually re-recoded my initial video that was showing a lot more. I want this video to help others and address what racing should be like in these lobbies. I am taking note of drivers who consistently drive dirty, which is not to be confused with drivers making mistakes.

    • @SuperScouse100-
      @SuperScouse100- Před měsícem

      I believe I may have been the guilty party here. Obviously there is 2 ways of looking at the situation. I believe I went for the tighter line in the corner as I noticed from the previous laps you were taking it deeper, similar to other moves that are shown in the video. I don't think we made contact until we had exited the corner onto the straight, so my intention certainly wasnt to ram you out the way. I did look at the replay after the race and I thought I had given enough room for you to the left of the track. Like I said post race, sorry and it wasn't intention. Certainly wasn't a purposeful dive bomb, just going for the inside line which I was planning on trying after watching your entry lines on previous laps. I know I also hit CAS early on in this race as the car behind me braked late and punted me forward. Both myself and the car that hit me then backed off the throttle so not to gain any places and allowed CAS to stay in front. I don't believe anybody purposely drove dirty in the 2 races even though I was punted several times myself. I think any incidents during these races are due to honest mistakes and not based on driving dirty.

      @@SuperScouse100- I feel like the incident comes down to my inexperience. I often find myself in similar situations and wonder why others don’t. I should have, after realizing you had a quicker pace, given more room at the corner. Not to let you pass, but to make sure we all had room for a fun clean race.
      In the end, no hard feelings. It’s just a little lonely at the back… hahaha

      @tockc thanks. Genuinely wouldn't take somebody out on purpose. Been there too many times myself so understand the frustration. Think eveyone is always trying to improve, certainly me.I have to say though, the run upto the incident was 2-3 laps of some of the closest no contact racing I've had. Complete credit to you for that. Sitting 2 tenths of your rear bumper (fender if you are from that side of the atlantic) really got the heart rate up. Hopefully race you again soon.

    Hello there!
    Thank you for hosting the race last sunday as it was well done all the way through for a casual sunday meeting between VR users and i'll look forward for the next race in your lobby anytime.
    But may i suggest a few ideas to spice it all up like: adding more laps, using hard tires, enable more penalties and removing the ability to drive on the grass (and why not make it to add a pit stop)?
    A one make race with a vote for a choice between a few cars would be great.
    Also, thanks for featuring my laps in the vignette video!
    Here is a link to my POV driving of this race if you're interested in watching the last few interesting laps ( as the 4c is not the most capable of gr.4 cars, i struggled a lot to keep up with the pace of the two first racers).

    what’s the actual visual like through your psvr2? i bought one and spent about 3 hours and gave up on GT7. even though i’m a PC guy, i find GT7 very appealing, a game i can literally hop on for an online race and the VR plug and play aspect got me interested trying it out on my PS5.
    I’m not sure if i’m expecting too much from the ps5 and pSVR2, the compression is so extreme i assumed it is due lack of GPU horsepower and the bandwidth limitation over USB C.
    My experience with the PSVR2 GT7 visuals is that the visuals are downscaled and extreme blurriness due to the tiny sweet spot for anything outside of the interior of the car is a deal breaker, ie. i can’t make out the street signs even at low speed.
    This put me off VR until I got a bargain on a used Pimax crystal and borrowed a meta quest 3 so i can experience it myself.
    pimax crystal = everything is sharp regardless of distance and zero blurriness.
    meta quest 3 = better than PSVR2 with good clarity but this can be hit or miss depending of the settings tools you use.
    psvr2 = 720p with really blurry visuals except for inside the car.

      I make sure the headset is sitting high on my head, at least for me it eliminates a lot of that blur your talking about

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  Před měsícem +1

      There is no compression with PSVR2. It actually uses display port over USB-C. What you are seeing in GT7 is due to reprojection from 60Hz to 120Hz. So it's using fake frames to fill in and give the appearance of a higher refresh rate which leads to less clarity and more blurriness. I do own a Quest 3 and always think when I put that on the clarity is much better all around, but then I put on my PSVR2 headset and it just runs so good that I forget about the clarity difference.
      The Pimax is hard to compare it to. The headset alone cost more then PSVR2 and a PS5 combind.
