    Remarkable result James so many Pixinsight tips in here, really delicate and rich final image. Super job.

    I think it looks perfect James.. the Little Ha pockets look so cool. I love the detail.

    Beautifull image James. Captured that fine Ha detail on the Cigar perfectly, well done mate

    I think even at bortle 1 it still takes skill and good skill to get as much as the IFN that you can. I am a HUGE fan of the dust, but could really learn how to do ot the right way. Anyway, beautiful image as always. Clear skies James!!

    Nice video and very nice images you've taken. If I get near what you have done I will be very happy, the processing is my final struggle. I am a astronomer, not a photo editing genius so the learning keeps going on and on and on.

      Thanks Frank! If it helps.. I'm an IT guy that started playing in astrophotography a few years ago. :)

    Really nice. Definitely made a note of some new tricks for the PI tool box (game most prominently). Honestly though, I don't have anywhere near the patience as you do for all that masking and tuning, but appreciate seeing it in your final results. 💫 Clear skies!

      Thanks Chris! It does seem like a lot but many of these steps have become muscle memory to me. Also.. whats not clear in the video is that the processing was broken up over 3 days.

    Great video James! I actually used your Ha video to process my M94 image in my latest video. That scope looks like it's doing an amazing job, but then again, it the person behind the scope. I think you could make an amazing image with a Coke bottle and an iPhone lol.

      I'm delighted to hear that my video was helpful. Your M94 shot is truly excellent :)
      Thanks for the compliment... lol.. a coke bottle :)

    Like! Would be interesting to see a comparison video with the 115mm refractor vs the 8 inch Celestron :)

      Check out my "Refractor vs SCT" video. I made a few direct comparison on the same targets between those two scopes :)

    I just spent two night on this target with the Stellarvue svx102 , asi294 mcp Lpro filter and eq6r . I just bought the asi294 mm pro and thinking using the L extreme for ha and Olll to add to the rgb. I don’t have narrowband filters yet. You gave me ideas. I don’t have any red in the cigar. Have to watch all your other videos now.

    • @DSOImager
      @DSOImager  Před 2 lety

      Really nice scope you have with that svx :)
      The L-Extreme should be able to pull out the Ha region with your 294mm but there won't be away to separate the Ha from the O3. Would be a cool experiment.

    Another great video. I like to use the Game script also as Pixinsight doesn’t have a “custom mask” option otherwise (as opposed to photoshop where you can mask any part of an image you like). Beautiful final image of M8 and M82.

      @DSOImager  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Logan! I suspect I'll be using the game script more often going forward.

    Great Video James. So much Ha!! Love Seeing Your Galaxy Photos, Look forward to see an Image of The Whirpool galaxy with Lots Of Ha??, I tried Collecting Data On M51 last Week, But Ut Failed need To try Again!

      Thanks Avanteesh! Whirlpool is tough.. its all by itself. I don't think I will be shooting the Whirlpool this year. I am currently shooting ngc 4725 which does have some Ha in there.. I just need a string of moonless nights :)

      @DSOImager  Před 2 lety +1

      @@avt_astro206 I always have trouble finding guide stars near it. Yea.. its one of the bigger, brighter ones out there. I shot it a couple of years ago.. right after I got the Edge and the 1600. Here it is: astrob.in/l59k8b/D/

  • @davidleejenkins
    @davidleejenkins Před 2 lety +1

    I really enjoyed watching this video James. Well done! I like your work flow. How does the AT115EDT compare to the EdgeHD 8 in image quality for capturing galaxies?

    • @DSOImager
      @DSOImager  Před 2 lety +2

      Ignoring the FOV difference.. the EdgeHD 8 seems to handle colors better.. Note that my at115edt is using cheap zwo rgb filters while the Edge is using astronomik deepsky filters.. which are noticeably better. I'm thinking about picking up astrodon RGB filters (to match the NB filters I already have). If I do it will be interesting to see if there is a difference.
      Now with all that said.. they really are two completely different tools. If I wanted a close up shot of M82 alone.. the Edge is perfect for that. Something like Markarians chain would be impracticable with the Edge.

    I know I’m late ha. Very cool btw, I’ve got the ASI294mc pro I’ve been shooting this target with optolong Lpro. Do you think if I shoot it with the Lenance and combine images it’ll pull out the HA. Not sure if this is possible?
    Thanks

    • @DSOImager
      @DSOImager  Před rokem

      Thanks! Hamburger and M66 do have some Ha. You might be able to add a little color.. but I wouldn't sacrifice broadband integration time to get it. When you reach the point where you think you got enough.. instead of moving on to another target you could go with trying to get some Ha.
