  • They tell me that the internet is where religion goes to die but they also tell me the internet is full of poor research and unreasonable arguments.
    We are going to get pretty technical today. Lots of different threads of evidence will be explained and drawn together to support the factuality of the burial of Jesus by Joseph of Arimathea. This may seem like it's not big deal if you haven't recognized the evidential value of the burial and empty tomb for the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus. I'll be drawing from the work of a number of different scholars (Craig Evans is particularly helpful) and responding to the work of Dr. Bart Ehrman, who has influenced countless people to reject the resurrection of Christ.
    This is part 67 of the Mark Series, going verse by verse through the Gospel of Mark. Today we are in Mark 15:42-46.

    Ehrman's article on the evidence from nails. • @rightousliving
      @rightousliving Před 3 lety +10

      Proofs are difficult to get when you haven’t been there at the time Jesus lived and died. It’s even more difficult when there are no original writings of any letter and book in the bible. Still more difficult when there are no good sources outside of scripture, the few we have are open to different interpretations. The only real proof is to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to allow Him to guide you into all the truth. And that is precisely what Jesus instructed his followers to do. Never did he say that they should create another bible, he wants us all to be taught by God Himself. The bible is only useful to guide us to God and learn about Jesus, but unlike what the Roman State Church taught for nearly two thousand years, using every trick in the book from manipulation, lying and violence, to push a Roman doctrine about Christ and not the truth Jesus actually taught, the letter kills, the Spirit makes alive. Be filled with the Holy Spirit and cone out of the Hure of Babylon. Judgement will start at the house of God first, and we are at the brink of this happening in our lifetime. Pray for revival of the Holy Spirit, He is the one most neglected in the church and yet the only hope that we can escape the coming judgement. Jesu takes shape in us through Him only, not through the teachings of any man or woman. Teachers in the church have only one role, to lead us to God, and how to be taught by Him. Once they did their job we don’t need any teachers anymore because we’re taught by God himself. However, pastors and teachers don’t like this freedom we have in the Spirit and want to enslave us to their teachings and judgements. They want us to be dependent on them instead of God.

    • @rightousliving
      @rightousliving Před 3 lety +6

      @Justin Gary don’t say „proof“ but „evidence“. It has never been proven that Jesus existed but there is good evidence he did. You can only proof it to yourself by being filled with the Holy Spirit and Him guiding you into all the truth. To know God is always a personal experience and unless someone opens himself up to want to sincerely know the truth you can never convince them. But you can always ask them to pray that God reveals Himself to them.

      I was referring to the timely manner in which Jesus chose to bring the work and, more importantly, humility of pastor Mike to my attention. It's been a difficult couple of years, but the Lord has blessed me with a sound mind through tough times. All praise to Jesus Christ, our Lord.
      It's very kind of you to share so much information and stand ready to give a defense for your faith (as we have been commanded.) Seeing that from someone is encouraging in these times. God bless you for that. I believe Jesus will return soon and He will set things right again. (Hebrews 12:16-17 kjv) lest there be any fornicator or profane person as E. S. AU - when he would have inherited the blessing he was REJECTED for he found NO place of REPENTANCE
      (John 17:9) I pray for them I pray NOT for the "WORLD"
      (1st john 2:15) if any man love the "WORLD" the love of the father is not in him
      (Hebrews 1:2) whom he has appointed heir of all things by whom also he made the "WORLD'SSS"
      (Joel 2:32) and it shall come to pass that "WHOSOEVER" shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered for in MT ZION and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance as the LORD hath said
      (Acts 2:21-22) and it shall come to pass that "WHOSOEVER" shall call on the name of the LORD shall be saved YE MEN OF ISRAEL HEAR THESE WORDS
      (Matthew 15:24) I am NOT sent BUT unto the lost sheep of the house of ISRAEL
      (Isaiah 45:17) but ISRAEL shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded "WORLD" without end
      (Jeremiah 3:23) truly INVAIN is salvation hoped for from the multitude of nations truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of ISRAEL

    Thank you for your videos, I've been trying to take a step back from politics and focus on faith and your videos have been helpful. I believe it's important for Christians to try to be informed about the state of the world, but I also want to make sure that I'm in line with scripture and I'm informed on that

    Don’t worry, Mike. What you’re saying definitely matters. Sure, there may be some people who don’t care, but I really enjoyed every bit of this.
    Even the parts where you trail off, because to me, it’s more information being given that holds a lot of value.
    Had you not trailed off and explained all of those things, then there’s a good chance we probably would have never learned about them.
    I just wanted to throw that out there so you know there are definitely people watching who appreciate the time and effort you put into making these videos.
    I wasn’t lost or uninterested. It’s exciting to learn, for me personally, and I’m sure there’s lots more people who feel the same way.
    It’s like thinking you had a puzzle completely solved, but then someone found a missing piece and brought it to you when you had no idea it was even gone in the first place.
    You’re helping to make the story of Christ more complete, and I thank you for that.
    Also, a little side note.
    Not sure if you hear this often, but I think you’re hilarious.

    This is gold! Thanks for this account of the evidence. From an early age, I have been fascinated by the overwhelming evidence for the ressurrection and I thought I'd heard it all. However, I had never heard this before. My mind is kind of blown right now hearing that there is even more evidence for the historicity of the gospel accounts than I realised.

    No way I've learned more about the Bible in 6-7 years from CZcams ministries than I ever did in a brick church. I love being able to pick and choose my internet pastors. I learn different things from different people and if what they are saying seems off I can turn it off I didn't have to go join a church and have to leave it. I love your gentle teaching style and how you make it easy to learn then on the opposite side I like Sam Shamoun for his unbelievable knowledge of scripture and it's all memorized his deep dives are amazing but not such a gentle way but still the way he puts the types and shadows together are truly a gift from God. I don't agree with his stance on Roman catholic church but I take the meat and spit out the bones. So far your doctrine lines up with I believe to be true close to a good %95. I think God has used the internet for great blessing to many people.

    I remember when I was 13 and God knocked on my heart, and the moment in my life when the bible became not just any old book of ancient parables but a history book; and I sat there thinking, there must be a more logical, simple reason for all this. Clearly, a dead guy didn't come back to life. What really happened. So I sat down and watched the history channel, this was 1993-1994; "The History of Jesus" but it should have been titled "The Skeptics of The Jesus Seminar Rewrite & Reimagine History". I heard all the major theories of the day, and I said, they look desperate for me right now in my moment of near belief to believe anything but the bible. I turned it off and said, you have to have more faith to believe septics than the bible, and then I read "A Care for Christ". Their points haven't changed in 27 years; they are saying the same stupid things. They act like the Romans were stupid. You don't run one of the biggest empires in the world and not know how to kill someone. That's like saying, the Nazis had gas chambers but did the Jews really did from them, did the Nazis know how to kill people?

    • @scottfw7169
      @scottfw7169 Před 2 lety +1

      That brings to mind that as far as I know there hasn't been a parade of skeptics volunteering themselves to be scourged and crucified and stabbed with a spear as described in the Bible so they can prove it is possible to not die from that.
