They did fabulously well - not many people in England have a World Cup Final runners up medal. It's just that Spain were better on the day and deserved their win. What impressed me the most was that with a less than ideal setup (retirements, injuries, red card suspension), England found a way to win. I watched the final and when I saw 1 minute left on the clock and everyone forward, I was still expecting it to go in. There were superior technical teams, nicer to watch teams, but few teams can match them for the mental side of the game. Also, is that Earps lass seriously good or just seriously good? It's just a shame the game didn't reach this state 20 years ago - my daughters could have benefitted greatly from seeing girls kicking a ball on the big screen in front of hundreds of millions of people.

Ruthlessness was a common byword by wiegman. The team boasts of competence and being unstoppable with a tone of great confidence and arrogance. Now, they know that the ball is round.
Spain were simply better on the day and could have won by one or two more, so fair play to them. They are a truly elite side. But for England to make the final despite being without three key players all tournament and on the back of a Euros win is an incredible effort. But how we could have done with the extra class and creativity of Beth Mead yesterday! That's not to say it would have made enough of a difference but she would definitely have helped a little.
Well done Lionesses, you should be proud of your efforts we as a nation are proud of you. There is no shame in marginally falling short, and you have still achieved a first England appearence in World Cup Final since 1966 and in this case overseas. Of the 4 3 3 that he had enchanted at the European Championships there is nothing left and it is not clear why. With the two strongest wingers in the world and the top scorer in the English championship, all that was needed was to field them in their roles. A great coach who died yesterday said that a good coach is the one who does the least damage. Wiegman did them right today and it was understood that it is no coincidence that he lost 2 out of 2 finals. Rejected. The girls were good and they are not to blame.
Earps was outstanding in goal, there was one save where she made a supernatural leap to stop a certain goal in the bottom corner! Very good team so gracious in defeat
I was rooting for Spain and happy they won. However, I am greatly impressed with the Lionesses. They played well and more importantly, they have been gracious in defeat. No excuses. They consistently have said that Spain played better and deserved the win. Many of the men's futbol teams around the world should watch these post-game interviews and learn how to be gracious.
The lionesses have been brilliant, and had a fantastic tournament. They play well together as a team and they fight to win. As a fan, you can't ask for more from your players. I'm no longer in England, but hope they get a hero's welcome
We got our game plan wrong. We should have played Spain like Japan did. We were too open in defence and there was too much space between our players. Still super proud of you all though.
At the end of the day Spain had all the possession and when they lost it won it back quickly and easily. England were second best by quite a way and listening to the delusion and over-confidence from the commentators and pundits prior was always setting them up for a fall, everyone was acting like it was in the bag. It was quite hilarious listening to the co-commentator during the match acting like Spain were playing into England's hands (with all their possession and excellent play 😅) and 'Englands defending was sublime' 🤦♂️. It was only at 75 minutes where it seemed to dawn on them that England might not be winning the WC.
If it helps anyone to put this into perspective, the Spainish goal scorer was informed shortly after the game finished that her Dad had passed away. He died Friday and it was kept from her for 2 days so she could have this moment. Even her family came to support her and never said anything. So so heartbreaking for the young lady 😢😢

Of the 4 3 3 that he had enchanted at the European Championships there is nothing left and it is not clear why. With the two strongest wingers in the world and the top scorer in the English championship, all that was needed was to field them in their roles. A great coach who died yesterday said that a good coach is the one who does the least damage. Wiegman did them right today and it was understood that it is no coincidence that he lost 2 out of 2 finals. Rejected. The girls were good and they are not to blame.
Earps was outstanding in goal, there was one save where she made a supernatural leap to stop a certain goal in the bottom corner! Very good team so gracious in defeat

I was rooting for Spain and happy they won. However, I am greatly impressed with the Lionesses. They played well and more importantly, they have been gracious in defeat. No excuses. They consistently have said that Spain played better and deserved the win. Many of the men's futbol teams around the world should watch these post-game interviews and learn how to be gracious.

The lionesses have been brilliant, and had a fantastic tournament. They play well together as a team and they fight to win. As a fan, you can't ask for more from your players. I'm no longer in England, but hope they get a hero's welcome
We got our game plan wrong. We should have played Spain like Japan did. We were too open in defence and there was too much space between our players. Still super proud of you all though.

At the end of the day Spain had all the possession and when they lost it won it back quickly and easily. England were second best by quite a way and listening to the delusion and over-confidence from the commentators and pundits prior was always setting them up for a fall, everyone was acting like it was in the bag. It was quite hilarious listening to the co-commentator during the match acting like Spain were playing into England's hands (with all their possession and excellent play 😅) and 'Englands defending was sublime' 🤦♂️. It was only at 75 minutes where it seemed to dawn on them that England might not be winning the WC.

If it helps anyone to put this into perspective, the Spainish goal scorer was informed shortly after the game finished that her Dad had passed away. He died Friday and it was kept from her for 2 days so she could have this moment. Even her family came to support her and never said anything. So so heartbreaking for the young lady 😢😢
So sad to hear about that, at least she can honour her late dad with this victory
