    Great renovation. Perhaps keep an eye underneath for stress fractures and water intrusion if the screws went through the fiberglass.

    Casitas trailers are single hull design, so the whole interior is carpeted. Not just any carpet. There's a foam underneath and it's main purpose is insulation, and it does work. I used to have an 87, and lived near their factory in Rice, TX. A DOY compost toilet? I have to watch that.

    Nice Video! I have been using portable panels with my 2010 Casita but would like to add another battery because I full time boondock. It works fine with one if there is no more than 1 cloudy day. If you added another battery where would you put it? You showed that one panel CAN be mounted on top of a Casita and thank you for that. Problem is that the one you referenced has been discontinued. Do you happen to know the size? If you can provide that then I can call Renogy to get a similar sized panel. Thanks and I hope you are still enjoying your Casita! P.S. I also started out in a 13' vintage trailer. It was fun but I really didn't want to do a full rebuild on it to keep it.

    Love the work you guy did on it! We are in the process of renovating a 2003 casita and also are replacing the flooring. Why did you guys decide to place wood over the fiber glass for the vinyl tiles?

    • @NilesRiver3
      @NilesRiver3  Před 4 lety

      Hey Sandra! We put the wood down because the floor underneath the carpet would bend when we walked on it. So to give it a more sturdy feel we put the wood down. Happy renovating!

    Great job altogether! Looks very homely inside. And a well done video too. How has your solar been working so far? And what vehicle do you tow with?

    • @NilesRiver3
      @NilesRiver3  Před 4 lety

      Hey @dave D Thank you! Our solar has been working great thus far. It provides a good amount of power for all of our needs. (laptops, blender, lights ect) Though, adding an extra battery would allow us to be less mindful of our power consumption at night!
      We tow our casita with our 2010 Toyota highlander 4wd V6. It does a great job. We also have a weight-distribution hitch which helps a ton!

    • @daved6351
      @daved6351 Před 4 lety

      @@NilesRiver3 Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I was wondering how well the solar panels keep up with heavier use days (in places where there's high heat or cold.) I guess the extra battery would help a lot.
      The Highlander sounds like a good towing vehicle, and the V6 is a must I bet.
      Happy trails y'all!

    So much you said you want to change the world. What did you do with everything you tore out? Repurpose it or haul it to the landfill? Home Depot supports anti-LGBT legislation. How much off a carbon footprint do you leave driving a gas-guzzling SUV towing everywhere? Do you buy carbon offsets? You can do whatever you want, it's a free country. Just don't call what you're doing something it's not.
