Very interesting question and response! Thank you for addressing this! I am wondering how his family knows what he knows and feels? Is this intuition or interactions with him on a daily basis? Also, Stephanie, do you read books to him or show him pictures? If yes, does he seem to be interested? Does he recognize his family members (versus strangers)?
I think a lot of how we know what he wants is just from being around him and learning what his sounds mean. He’s very clear, when he’s mad he will yell, when he’s frustrated or grumpy or if something may be bothering him he will usually whine about it for a while until we figure it out. Some times we don’t really ever know for sure what’s wrong, but Sebastian is soothed very easily with hugs. The “pressure” from hugs calms his nervous system so when something is bothering him and if we can’t figure it out, lots of hugs usually is enough to soothe him! And we have read books to him! Sometimes he just sits and listens. I’m not sure how much he understands, but the vibrations from our voice and the visual stimulation from the pictures and colors on the page im sure is enjoyable to him! And he totally recognizes family vs strangers. When family comes to visit he’s very calm and happy and relaxed. When the nurse comes each week for a blood draw and dressing change? He starts immediately grinding his teeth and yelling! Lol. He totally knows when the nurse is there. And he knows when we’re at the hospital vs home too! Great questions! Thank you for being here with us!
@@stephaniegeorge Thank you again, Stephanie, for taking the extra time to answer in such detail. Very, very interesting...I bet Sebastian understands a lot, and can communicate very effectively with his mommy and daddy, and grandmas, and all other family members.
Thank you again for tonight’s forum in understanding some of Sebastian’s challenges. You are so well versed about his condition! My concern is for you. Your goals are firm for your house and Sebastian. Do you get out on your own much just for a break? I know how you must feel since I am similar to your ocd😍After I I had my one and only son, I started having severe panic attacks and depression. I was a career gal, teaching elementary school which I loved. Long story short I needed medication to be able to function again. Very scary and feeling quite alone. Oh well with the grace of God I managed and then when son turned 12 yrs old he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes! Anxiety has been a partner with me my whole life. Now he lives in CA and we are on the east coast MA. So here I am at 71 yrs. feeling alone. I wish I could visit with you as a neighbor. Don’t give up making videos. I look forward to them.💙❤️🤍😍
I relate so closely to Sebastion as I have had 14 heart attacks, open heart surgery and a pacemaker. I also have a bad genetic marker which causes this. I went through the Vancomycin infusions, like SEbastion is now, and all of this has been so rough on me, I cannot believe Sebastion has to go through this. 3 open hearts? One was plenty for me!!! Hello! So cute to see Sebastian wave his little hand like he's saying Hello to us all. Sweet boy! Hope everything continues to go well! Lots of love from Chicago 🥰❤
Sebastian looks so good. His color is back. He is such a cutie. It sounds like your in good hands with the surgery. I'm so glad you can keep the line in. My son who has cerebral palsy had so many surgeries and the less they have to poke and prod the better. You're an inspiration to me.
Thank you for answering that lady's questions so fully. Knowing these things brings Sebastian more fully into our lives. You and yours are in my prayers.
Thank you for being open about Sebastian and his medical issues. You are able to share the complex information so everyone can understand his challenges. Ever considered being a nurse or peer educator!
I love that you choose to answer questions like that! I have a physical disability myself and I’m constantly telling people that it’s ok to ask questions….it’s how we learn as human beings! It doesn’t happen as much anymore but a lot of times when people would come up to me wanting to know more about why I’m in a wheelchair they would always follow up their question with an apology because they felt like they were offending in some way by just being curious. I’m in my 40s and thankfully we’ve come a long way to better understanding disabilities but there’s still so much to be learned! I love your channel, btw! 😉
@Stephanie George I totally agree. My sister was born with a birth defect and to this day she is self conscious. All through school she was picked on. I stood by her fighting her corner, and still do to this day. She entered into the nursing side for her profession. I have a nephew with a disability and he copes in his way. It makes you proud of them, as it does with every body who have disabilities no matter how small or big. I honestly think people like yourself Cara and young Sebastian are wonderful and courageous young people. Never stop believing.....much respect from Belfast ❤️💙

What a little sweetheart…..have watched most of your videos and love them. I am almost 82 and I am a great grandmother. If I was your neighbor, I would love to rock him and hold him every day…. It is a joy to see you and your husband having this precious little boy to love and hug…and hold. When he smiles, I smile..his little teeth are so cute. Each video I have watched brings me joy. All of my family live so far in different states and once a Grammy always a Grammy… I miss my grand children. Your parents and family are lucky to have you all close to them. Love how Grandma holds and loves on Sebastian but you two as well. Your candy tasting…lol..so funny but makes me hungry. Again Thank You for your videos… I will light a candle at mass for all of you. god Bless ❤ pray 🙏
Such a great video. Sebastian is definitely a smart and lovely little boy. I’m certain that you make very well informed decisions for him in every aspect of his life. It was so nice to see Mr. Sebastian a lot today! Glad prayers were answered about the pic line. He seemed very alert today! Nala almost sounded like the fire alarm from the old house. Lol
Thank you for the explanation of Sebastian's brain. I've watched for awhile but didn't totally understand that and it was good to know. I'm glad someone asked. I'm glad with a week off painting you came upstairs and brought things up. You have a good rest of the day.
One of my favorite smiles. I have so much love for mr. Sebastian. He is so smart if he does or doesn’t want something he will let you know. Just like any other 5 year old he loves that word no! ❤❤
I love when you said see you later people,my buddy smiled, like he was saying by everyone! So sweet. Glad you are adjusting to your beautiful home, can’t wait to see when it’s all done. Have a great night everyone 😃
Stephanie, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your beautiful family and most of all I, can see how much Sébastien, has changed in the past year that I've been watching. He looks like a great little man I, love his smile and the way he looks at you and his daddy. I, can tell you that you are an amazing woman and person thank you for sharing your beautiful baby boy I, know he's 5 but my oldest is 29 and I, still feel like he's my baby. Many blessings to you and your family
I'm sorry that I haven't watched your channel as much recently. Sebastian is so sweet and such a cutie. Thank you for sharing the question and answering it. I appreciate you sharing Sebastian and his journey. I've learned so much from you. May God richly bless you all and bring Sebastian quick healing with his surgeries and treatments.
Sebastian you have captured my heart big time. You are so wonderful darling, so courageous you have and do face sò much in life. Love you our brave special boy. ❤️ 💙 ❤️ 💙
Hello Stephanie, I'm new to your channel and still trying to get caught up on your videos. You are an awesome mom!! Sebastian my sweet sweet darling! Beautiful boy!! Thank you for sharing his life with us.
Such a great explanation of Sebastian's diagnosis and how he interacts with the world around him! I often wondered those same things but never sure how to ask, just don't want to sound intrusive. He's such a special kid, you are so blessed to have him! Since you are encouraging questions, I do wonder if he will grow bigger over the years, or will he stay pretty small? I'd love to know! Thanks Steph, love your videos 😊
Never ever be afraid to ask. Sebastian is so different and there’s so many things to wonder! I’d rather someone ask than wonder! Really! As far as his size- ALL people diagnosed with CDLS are really small bodied. It’s a physical characteristic of his syndrome that affects about 90% of people with his syndrome. So although the will grow in age, his size growth will be very delayed. (We’ve met a 40year old woman with CDLS and she only weighed 52 pounds and stood 3 foot 6!). It’s almost a form of dwarfism but not directly correlated in their diagnosis which is weird because all people with CDLS are very small. Lol. Thanks for asking!!
What a very informative video. When I first found you I just went to your page and looked for older informative videos that got me up to speed. You are so kind hearted and I so very much enjoy your sharing. The day to day is great and one of my favorites are the family gatherings. I loved the cabin days. I’m so happy about Sebastian getting to keep his PICC line. I had one at one time for about 8 weeks and it is so much easier. The home health nurse removed mine, easy peasy. Maybe Sebastian can have his removed before he leaves the hospital. Thanks again!! ❤️ P.S. Give Zeus an extra love…he is a favorite of mine too, so sweet and a healthy boy.
I will totally give him a smooch for you! And we will be back at the cabin in the spring for sure!!! If you ever have any questions about Sebastian please feel free to ask! I see your name often in the comments!! Thank you for being here!
Hello to the George Family ! I have just been reading about your wonderful boy Sebastian and your journey together. Every blessing on the times ahead. What a marvellous story, thank you Mom and Dad !🙏👏 Brian (Ireland)
Praying for the most benevolent outcome for today and moving forward. I truly believe children with special needs ❤️ are angels sent from heaven to teach us about love and acceptance. I have a son who was diagnosed with encelopthy and organ failure. I came so close to losing him. I believe the world is a better place with him in it. God bless you. I do understand some of what you are going through. My son was not able to communicate but I know he understood connected with him. You are a Momma lion a great mother. Sebastion is so blessed to have you and your family surrounding him with so much love.
That was wonderful explanation, Stephanie! Thank you so much! Sebastian looks very alert and interested in everything. He is so sweet and precious! He is blessed to have such a wonderful Mom and family. I’m so glad he can keep the pic line until the surgery! I’ll be praying that all goes well, in Jesus’s Name! I love hearing Nala chirping in the background, and seeing Zeus happily running around, or keeping you and Sebastian company. Love you guys, sending you all my love and hugs, God bless you all! 🤗❤️🙏🏻✝️💙
Loved the video, Steph. You were so kind to answer this viewers question...any question for that matter. I know Sebastian knows a lot more than some people give him credit for. He's made leaps and bounds throughout your time on CZcams. I enjoy every video and enjoy seeing him make progress no matter how little or big. But most of all I just enjoy seeing this precious boy and family. All happy and healthy living your lives together to the fullest. I know that's cheesy, but that's how I feel. I don't know about anyone else, but this family just brings me joy. Continued prayers and love. See you tomorrow. 🤗
Previous comment my mistake, not that the fur babies seem to be thriving in your new home already, but your fur baby and feather baby, lol! Also, just want to comment on what a trooper Sebastian is what all of the medical things he goes through and you are too, so diligent and gentle with it all, so very admirable!!!
I just love this child. I too raised a special child. I loved ever minute of it. They are so innocent and sweet. Keep up the good work. It pays for itself!!
Thank you for the informative video on Sebastians condition. Does he ever listened to traditional Catholic Gregorian Chant? It is healing for mind, body, and soul. Keeping you all in my prayers..I love your beautiful new house!
Awww 🥰 what a great visit with you all this morning! Learned a lot from you answering the viewers question. Always glad when you are asked in a respectful manner. 💜 love these past few years of watching Sebastian grow up and become the amazingly smart, handsome lil man he has become! Thank you again so much Stephanie & Gio & of course Sebastian for sharing your lives with us! Much love from Lori in Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Just really wanted to tell you how amazing I think u and little man are !! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I just love starting my day with your family!!🤗 Thank-you for giving us an insight on Sebastian and welcoming us into your home!! Nala is such an entertainer until the spotlight is on her!! Silly girl☺It doesn't look like Zeus is straying too far from his new bed either!! Your 'family of subscribers' will be praying for successful surgery and recovery for Sebastian, as well as strength for you and Gio. Please let us know what else we can do to help. Blessings!!🙏🙏
So glad Sebastian won't have to go through one more stick with a new pick line! Yes, any less needle sticks in the hospital are a true blessing, especially for children!!! The light in your new home is spectacular, looks like your fur babies like it there!
Thank you for those bits of information on Sebastian. I just came across your channel and was wondering just what his affliction is and how old he is. Such a handsome boy…looks A LOT like his daddy! These are brave little souls who take all this on in a lifetime to educate the rest of us. He sure couldn’t have picked better parents. Blessings to all of you. The bird is a hoot! They are messy creatures but SO SMART and funny!
Stephanie thankyou you are a beautiful human being. You are so open & your videos are so informative & that gorgeous little man Sebastian is so blessed to have you & Gio for his mommy & daddy. House coming along you'll soon get there. Love & hugs 🫂 to you. 💖💙💙🇬🇧
Congratulations on your new house looks amazing.. we also are doing some repairs and painting … but that is the way to put your own touch to it 👍 Sebastian looks so happy and good .. but of course he is with his amazing mama … and he feels all of the love he gets from you and Gio … have a good evening see you soon in a new video…
Sebastian is so adorable!!! I love watching your videos. My son was non verbal n had a wheelchair, oxygen ,feeding n med tubes. Also had has cortical blindness. He passed in March of 2020. I miss him so very much.
I'm new here too and I've tried to catch up on older videos, but there's still so much I don't know about! So I found those questions *very good* and the answers were very *informative* !
So glad to see your vlog. To help educate people about CDLS. You have a beautiful family. It’s great to see your family accepts and loves Sebastian. My granddaughter is 18 and is higher functioning, however still has health issues as well as cognitive delay. She is also autistic. Which from what I understand is very common.
Great question.. Nice explanation. I think he will learn to love that high chair because he will be able to see farther into the rooms and watch while Mom is making vacuum lines so perfectly 👍🏻
God bless you and what you are enduring as I grew up with a brother that had major brain damage, so I understand how stressful your life is. It's not easy taking care of a child like this, it puts a strain on everyone, you are one strong mama.
Hello Sebastian and Stephanie! Good to see that you two along with Nala and gorgeous Zeus are doing well today. Mr. Sebastian looks better and better with each passing day, (thank you Lord for this blessing). His color is great and he has energy now. Sebastian is just so handsome and I love to see him so happy and smiling! God please bless this baby and keep him close to You and keep him strong and healthy. I hope and pray that Sebastian’s upcoming surgery goes as smoothly and uncomplicated as possible. He is in good hands with his parents and family, surgeons, nurses and the rest of the hospital staff at the ready to help him through this. Sending big hugs and much love! ❤
Sebastian is a beautiful little boy ! Watching your videos have been so sweet for me... My husband , Dan was a wonderful brother to his special needs little sister for all of her 49 years... The only words she ever spoke were mom mom and bubba... of course bubba was her name for Dan . She was everything to him and he was everything to her.. such a beautiful bond between siblings I have seen so many times in families...Lisa , whom we affectionately called "Sissy" although she could not walk or talk or feed herself was the greatest teacher to our family as well as a most loved daughter , sister, aunt and sister in law... Sissy's diagnosis was from birth Cerebral Palsy, brain damage and heart failure...At her birth the doctors told her parents she would never be anything but a vegetable, she needs to be put in a home where she can be cared for... They absolutely refused, brought Sissy home to her 4 other siblings and the journey began... journey that has made my faith grow, my years with her blessed and such a valuable teacher and aunt to my children, and grandchildren. Sebastian was given to you and your husband as a gift . God has a purpose for Sebastian on this earth. A very special purpose.......As his parents, you are very special also.... I have often heard it said that God only allows special types of people to watch over and nurture his most precious creations... .....love to Sebastian and to you both. I wish I could be with him in person he would get hugs and kisses !!!
@Donnell Okafor sorry, assh0le, but the little kid is precious. And the cutest kid I've ever seen. look at that mohawk and those incredible eyelashes! Why are you jealous you haven't had a child like this? Some of you commenters almost get to me with your maliciously intended revenge! go wash your mouth out. and while at it, as well wash your brain! capisce?
@Donnell Okafor i knew you'd have something to say as revenge. guess what? you're right! But not because of the comment i made about the little boy, but because, otherwise, you're right. i am nuts! thank you for the compliment! feel better now, having tried to seek revenge? please spare me your mediocrity bores me.
@Donnell Okafor okay jerk! congratulations! i'm giving you the opportunity of the last word. now go away and practice possibly becoming an interesting person. although you may have to do this for this life and many others. and then...oh, well...now kid, remember I said congratulations on your style! okay? bye.
Thankyou for explaining all that Stephanie. That was really interesting. And important to know even though I’m following from France I really am interested in Sebastian’s life and progress. He obviously knows more than we think. But you as his mum knew that.

Hello Stephanie, I'm new to your channel and still trying to get caught up on your videos. You are an awesome mom!! Sebastian my sweet sweet darling! Beautiful boy!! Thank you for sharing his life with us.
It looks a lovely place where your new home is situated. Sebastian is a wee gem 💎 and has settled in well with his new home. 💙 Xx
I love how you have different voices for each person and pet. It’s so cute!!
You all are so sweet and your little boy is a doll God Bless 🙏🏼❤️🧑🏻
Every blessing on the times
ahead.
What a marvellous story, thank you Mom and Dad !🙏👏
Brian (Ireland)
Your new house looks so bright & beautiful! Its good to see Sebastian smile😊👏. You are so nice to everyone..thank you😊❤🙏
Loved the video, Steph. 🤗
Sébastien is so adorable... glad to see him happy today... you can see he loves his new home... God Bless
You did an awesome video about Sebastian & his history with his syndrome! God bless your family always!
Maybe Nalah thinks you miss that pesky smoke alarm chirp so she's providing her version 🤣😅😂❤🐦

That house/ castle is incredible! I love all of the windows! You are amazing and truly deserve everything good that this world can offer.
Love you Stephanie and Sebastian. You are without doubt the best mum in the world. Cheers from Oz xx
Must be so hard trying to renovate and live each day Steph. I feel for you. You’ll get there. Hi Sebastian. We all love you. Love from Australia.

I just started watching, and thought Nala's chirping was another smoke detector!!
Hahahaha... me too at first! ) : I thought ohhhh nooooo!! Lol! ( :
LOL hopefully we never have to hear that again!!!!!
And thankfully Nala doesn't mimic that sound!
Me too, lol.
You are amazing! Don’t let anyone take you down, they couldn’t do a hundredth of what you do. 😍
Sebastian is so adorable!!! I love watching your videos. My son was non verbal n had a wheelchair, oxygen ,feeding n med tubes. Also had has cortical blindness. He passed in March of 2020. I miss him so very much.
I love watching your videos especially when he smiles my Alex was the same way.
You explain things very clearly. Thank you 😊
I love your baby. He reminds me of my little brother Peter. You are a wonderful mom.
He’s just an absolutely very smart little guy ♥️🙏🏼♥️🥰❣️❣️❣️❣️And has amazing parents who nurture and love him🥰❣️❣️
I’m a new follower, you have such a wonderful family, critters included! 😊
Glad Sebastian can keep his line in! I have had a few picc lines and the less you have to be stuck the better!👍👍😃❤️❤️❤️
That's the cutest kid I've ever seen! He's just precious! Bless him!
1am in Ireland and I'm enthralled! Sebastian always makes me smile xx

Yayyyyyyy!! Sebastian can keep is pic line in! Woo hoo! I am sooooo happy to hear this! ( : Sebastian is doing sooo much better for his hospital stay. Thank goodness! ( : He is such a cutie! He doesn't like his antibiotic treatments, though! ( :
I found this video so helpful, as I am sure many others did. I always wondered, and didn't realize the exact extent of Sebastian's symptoms that he lives with, since I started watching you guys less than 6 months ago! ( : You offered the information so smartly and sweetly, Stefani. I didn't know about Sebastian's encephalopathy at all. Which explained his manner of responses so we'll! You rock! ( : ❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰
Aw thank you so much for being here and for the love. I always see your comments!
Hi from Bangkok. Love your new home - can’t wait to see how you will decorate it. ❤❤
Hi. I'm new to your beautiful vlogs. You and your husband have a beautiful love for Sebastian. It's infectious. Give a hug and kiss to Sebastian from his CZcams family.

Stephanie you are such a good mother to Sebastian you so cute I look forward to daily videos to look at that sweet face I really mean that I just love him
Sebastian has a bright future ahead of him that’s for sure! I’m enjoying getting to know you and your wonderful family.. I understand the non verbal and delayed responses. I see it in my husband who survived a massive stroke. I’m lucky to be able to be his caregiver…He is non verbal but understands and is aware. Always looking forward to your videos. Have a good restful evening
Sending you love!
