You ability to break down the lyrics in Chinese is amusing! I am adamant that way to language lies trough heart and learning songs can really speed up the process. would be great if you could break down one song maybe in the series of videos. my favorite is ++Wai+Mian+De+Shi+Jie+-+++Cyhi+Chin or Beijing, Beijing 北京北京 by Wang Feng
I totally agree that learning songs can really help take the language out of the dry classroom format and help you connect on a more emotional level. We do have a playlist on this channel with other songs to learn Mandarin with... check it out!

Thank you so much. This was wonderful. Very helpful. What is the name of the song in English? That way I can listen to them back-to-back (English and Mandarin version). Would you be willing to do a video on the Mandarin cover of Yellow from the soundtrack?

Amazing. Very nice, very good at what you are doing. Also, very beautiful you are.
I learn chinese, I am beginner and have a difficult in pronounciation of pynyin! but this video helped me to learn quickly ! thanks!
Thank you for the positive comment! Check out our lesson series on Pinyin for more help with your pronunciation: czcams.com/video/q2hrlAGewvY/video.html
Which editor do you use, really good. And I thought 'měi' means American as in měi guo. Good video 😁
Pretty pretty good
WorldStar!!!
太牛了!
can you do 'city of stars'? i would LOVE to hear that song with Chinese lyrics
Do city of stars next
lovely as always, I just have a question about the first mei has a 3rd tone and the second has a 2nd tone? like you3 mei2 you3?
Hi Alberto, thanks for your kind words! :)
The two mei are different words. The mei with the third tone is this character: 美 for beautiful, and the second mei with the second tone is this character: 没 which negates 有 (yǒu). Does that answer your questions?
can you explain why your pronunciation is different with when you sing? for example, zhe ge.. you sing is " /ə/" . but when you speak, it sounds different a little
Your translation is great...I wonder if someone else did it to help you.
Thank you for the kind feedback! We've got a small but really great team here at Yoyo Chinese, but this translation I did myself! :)
你看上去帅呆了! :)))
Zhe ge shi jie hen mei hao
Ni you mei you yong xin zhao
Ni shi wo xin zhong de bao
Ke shi ni dou bu zhi dao
My favorite things put together lol
wow ! I'd like Yangyang sing every day !
big fan Yangyang, I have a question : ni you mei you yong xin zhao, you used (you mei you) just like in English for the past participal, is that really right or are you just trying to relate English to chinese ?
thank you for this song
you mei you isreally right ,this you is pinyin, means have, not how are you, this you,its difference
Can anyone tell me what the guy says at dinner on the phone, presumably in Mandarin, during La La Land?
Hey Yangyang. I have a question for the ages. If you could pick one tone out of the four that is the closest to regular English speech, which would it be? I feel like the first tone is the most closest. Thoughts?
hehe, actually there are equivalent of all four Chinese tones in English. Check out this CZcams video: czcams.com/video/3wV8B4bx1lM/video.html&lc=z13fe1kaiwryyb21u22lznlrdmitjbhzd04
wow, you can actually sing and play the piano.
I have just started learning Chinese and am trying so hard to master tones. How can you maintain tones and sing with feeling?
It's exciting you are starting to learn this amazing language! You are right to focus on the tones right from the start, so you have a solid foundation for pronouncing all the vocabulary to come! If you're going through our courses, you'll gradually become more and more comfortable making these sounds as you progress through the lessons and reviews.
As for singing, it really depends on what type of music, but generally speaking the problem would not be the tones as much as the pronunciation of the the characters or words, including some key initials and finals, like zh ch sh, j, q, x. If someone can pronounce these sounds properly, I think the tones usually wouldn't be a problem. I've heard many English speakers singing Chinese songs with perfect tones, but the pronunciation was really a problem and sometimes it's hard to tell what are the words in the song. I hope that helps!
Yang, why do we say wo xin zhong instead of wo de xin zhong?
Could you please translate the song
"Qing shen shen yu mеng meng"
