Thanks man. I kinda broke out laughing how easy it was. Wanted to take a look at my girlfriends V40. Latch probably jumped off. My 740 I had to first break every clip on the panel before learning how to remove one cleanly.
I know what you mean about the 740, some cars you just cannot take apart without every clip breaking. They’re great on this car, nothing at all broke. Hope you got sorted.
Thanks! My door started to leak. The seal on inner the panel where the tweeter and window motor are attached to was completely gone. Water from outside came in… waste of time, but a nice job. Had to take out the window, window motor, locks and all the hardware. Thanks for sharing so I could get the first steps done.
2:28 ish. Earlier models have a screw behind a cover, top right of the panel, (top left on rhs) its only accessible with the door open. I suggest owners of earlier cars remove this screw from both rear doors today, or destroy the door card one day in the future
My car has the third screw. As a previous comment confirms, the screw is only accessible with the door open. The car now has the common Volvo issue of a rear door locking shut and failing to open. To solve the problem of the door not opening I need to get to the door mechanism. In order to get to the door mechanism I need to remove the door card. In order to remove the door card I need to remove the third screw. Which I can't do because the door won't open.
Does the rear speaker grill come off of the door card separately or does the entire piece need replacing? Referring to the big piece at the bottom right at 1:50, thanks
I have a 2014 V4, and in the last year or so, my passenger door cover started to vibrate a lot and make noise when listening to music. (Note: I do have my bass turned up almost to max.) Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to fix this? The other doors are fine.
@@IAMASPANNER Thank You, I appreciate your time and input. I’m thinking I can R&R with an easier setup. Have a wonderfully blessed & distantly safe day @TollySwift!!!
Very helpful video! Thanks! Looking for some extra footage (I want to remove the rear windows so i cant tint them properly. Is there an easy way to remove the windows from where this video ends? Thanks in advance!
Hi Eric, there’s definitely a way. There’ll be 2 access holes on the door that will allow you to undo whatever clamp is holding the bottom of the window glass. Sorry I can’t help more as I haven’t done the job, you may already be sorted by now!
@@IAMASPANNER Thanks for your reply. I tinted the Windows last sunday and what a pleasure to work on this car! Removed the doorpanel according to your instructions, removed the glossy cover on the outside/back of the door and loosened the rubber window strips/outside window strip. On the inner door-panel there’s one cap that needs to be removed, and after lowering the window the clamp that secures the glass is visible. Easy peasy!
Great video, can you make a video how to get into lock when rear door panel is off , almost all v40 have the problem you can’t unlock the door when it’s freezing or cold outside . My v40 is now locket so I can open from outside or inside 🤦🏻♂️ Just search for Volvo v40 door lock problem Thanks again
I’ll look into this and thanks for mentioning, I’ve looked it up and it was a problem you could get fixed under warranty I think. This is a 2017 model so I’m not sure if they fixed them by then?
@@IAMASPANNER no its same lock, you can read here news paper www.vibilagare.se/nyheter/dorrar-i-baklas-pa-volvo-v40-men-en-losning-ar-pa-gang just use google tranlsate and you can read about it. Mine is 2013 so its to late for warranty even for you i think, its 2 year i think New research, no i think from 2018 its new lock
I can’t translate on my phone but I’ll try to remember to look on desktop. This car is in the family so I’ll check if it’s due a recall, thank you for the heads up, if they do end up needing replacing I’ll try do a video if I can.
Thansk for video. I have issue with both rear back doors on my Volvo V40 D2 2013 Mod. I can't open it from both side. I have checked all fuse with no problems. What can I do to open it up and what do you think is the issue?
I have the same problem with my rear doors. Neither will open inside or outside. No child locks on either. Do you have a video on changing the locks? Been quoted £750 from Volvo, even though it's a common fault on the v40.
Is this any good for getting dinges out of the door from the inside? Got a cracker that looks like it could be put right from the other side, right along the swage it is. Cheers for any help.
Hi Graeme, possibly, you’d have to remove the second skin of the door and see how much of the panel is accessible. The window and mechanism may make access difficult towards the top of the panel.
@@IAMASPANNER ah luckily its right along the bottom. I suppose its a lot easier to take these door cards off than most vehicles so its not much time lost if it doesn't work out. Ill have a look and let you know. Cheers for getting back to me.
Hi tollt, any chance you could help me connect the temprrature sensor on the mirrors? Mine were stolen and no technician has been able to do so. 🥲 air condition and star stop not working. Thanks
These whole v40 series are a life saver, thanks for uploading, I'll do a playlist
Glad to help, thanks for taking the time to comment and subscribe!

Muito obrigado meu amigo, pelas dicas 👏🏼🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Gracias por la explicación!!!!!
Your videos really helped me out.
But really nice would be a video on how to remove the inner door panels. Cause that’s the fucked up part😂

Hi. Do you know how to remove all trunk covers? To get light electric wire? Greetings
Good Video 👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Great vid - Thank You! How do you replace the rear passenger speaker cover on the door card?
Thanks DW. I’m not sure at all, they may be plastic welded and not easily replaceable to be honest.

The procedure will be very similar.
