@@lxced.5420 Yeah, I’d agree. Perhaps if he has had a long history of concussions, but not all concussions are career ending. Crosby is pretty decent example. I’ve had 4 diagnosed concussions and an unknown number of I diagnosed ones. Not to mention plenty of subconcussive hits. Now I wouldn’t exactly call myself normal, but my life is far from over. 😉

These type of plays make you wonder how they don’t wear a football like helmet the ear and temple guards on a hockey helmet are pretty thin

@@BradyBegeman obviously football helmets lead to the players using it as a weapon and tackling with their head but aside from that i’m talking about plays like this that I’m surprised don’t happen more often where you smack the side of ur head on the ice where a hockey helmet can slide up ur head easily if ur chinstrap isn’t tight which most nhl players don’t wear it tight

@@Dualities it was a clean, fair hit. It was just unfortunate that he got caught at the wrong angle to make him tumble backwards instead of to the side or forwards.

Something about a player tapping another player to apologize is very heartwarming.
NHL hockey is the only self-policing sport - both positive here, and the negative when experienced players go after rookies or stars, or vice-versa.

His helmet probably stopped that. It absorbed most of the impact that would have otherwise cracked his skull open.

I do feel for De Hann. I'm a huge Canes fan and I can see that De Hann didn't mean for it to happen. You can see how concerned he looked at 0:22. Agreed that it is an unfortunate incident and hope Necas gets better soon.

At about 0:24 you can see Calvin de Haan saying "is he all right?" to the ref. Class act, I wish more people were like him.
I have a headache after watching this.
I had a similar concussion playing hockey 18 years ago... knocked out cold. I still don't remember much until noon the next day. His landing made me cringe for sure.

Really felt bad when this happened. Glad the Hawks got the win, but with a minute left in the game fighting for a chance to stay in it. Hate to see a guy go down like that. Hope it isn't too bad and he returns to their lineup soon!

football was the worst this year for injuries...every game three, four, five guys out it seemed like. Although awful Its the risk they all agree to take when they lace em up. What everybody hates is a dirty hit that causes serious injury then its just shameful and sad.
Did players suddenly become more reckless and less calculating post 2000s? I don't recall this ever being so present before

It was a clean hit, just a bad landing. So no reason to start a fight. Had that been a dirty hit.....that would have been a line brawl.

Just unbelievably unlucky. Completely clean hit and Necas just went down awkwardly. I got a concussion in a similar fashion and I wasn’t right for 3-4 months. I just hope he will fully recover. Kid has been playing the best hockey of his NHL career. Game breaking speed

I originally thought this was a dirty hit when I looked at it live, but then I saw the replay and realized it was just extremely unfortunate.

I have hit my head like that in hockey, it just really hurts and you can’t get up. You want to get up but you can’t, you just lay there and do nothing but hurt and try to recover. For me, everything went yellow and I had an instant headache.

yea ive had 2 concussions from hockey 1 from a hit kinda simililar to this not in the corner tho and another when my teammate was changing and he kicked me in the face when he hopped the boards. got a bloody noise both times and i couldnt see or hear clearly. shits brutal
@@jonnynospin Same here. Laying on the ice wondering where I was. The trainer comes out with smelling salts. Tells me that the coach says to suck it up and take the face-off. Thank god they have concussion protocols now. Played the rest of the game. My brain was scrambled for a week. My wife says that it is still scrambled.

I always felt bad about this hit because they played together and they both knew it wasn’t malicious. Necas has bounced back in a great way but damn if I wasn’t worried about that dazed look on his face.

Absolute clean hit. De Haan didn't want that to happen. You can see it when he's by the ref. He also went by Necas and gave him a stick tap. He really is a classy player.

Former teammates you never want to see a hit like this happen where a guy's head bounces off the ice especially to someone that you once shared the same jersey with. De haan never meant to hit Necas with the intent to injure whatsoever very classy of him to approach him as Necas was headed off the ice.

Its lucky he was able to get up and have weight on both skates to leave the ice! Most times when a head bounces of the ice like that you leave on a stretcher. All the best and hopefully he recovers fast and gets back playing!

Pale as hell. Wow he has some serious head trauma. Poor guy. I got knocked into literally the day before from a football collision in high school. It can be hell honestly.

Terrible consequence to a perfectly legal hit. Ice is hard and this will always be an issue as long as there is hockey. Hopefully the kid will make a complete and quick concussion recovery. DeHaan is not a dirty player and I’m sure he feels terrible for this, but such is hockey, and we will continue on. Good luck Necas!!
