I have both sets of earbuds too and while I agree with most of what you said, or at least understand why you think the way you do, I think the sound quality and noise cancellation are better with the Sonys. The air pods do sound fine and do have bass, but the sound from the Sonys has so much more presence. I listened to the air pods first and thought they sounded really good until I listened to the same song on the Sonys. Major difference with the Sonys being much better. What I love about the Sonys is that I don’t have to listen to the volume very high to experience great sounding music. With the air pods I have to put the volume at 75-80% to get some feeling in the music vs being around 50-55% on the Sonys. You are right that the air pods are very loud at max volume. With the noise cancelling, I was surprised that the air pods do as well as they do and I do not think there is a noticeable difference with noise cancelling between the two. The fact that the Sonys let you adjust the amount of noise cancelling is a major difference, though, and this puts the Sonys ahead in my opinion. The battery life is much better too with the sonys, especially if you don’t use the noise cancelling. The air pods are just easy to use, the case is much smaller in person and a big advantage for them as well, and they sound decent. I am going to use both for another week or so before deciding which to keep, but right now I am leaning towards returning the air pods as I value the sound quality most.
Have both of these, apple made a good product, much better than the original, however, from what I’ve heard so far I don’t think they sound better than the Sony, bass on the AirPod pro’s is surprisingly good, mids are also good, where the Sony have them beat is on the high range, you don’t get the detail and soundstage the Sony’s provide in my humble opinion, that said, I have to say that I’m still impressed with the AirPods pro, they sound good (compared to the originals), the call quality is fantastic just like on the originals, hate the call quality on the Sony very mediocre.
John S yes very focused on the lower range, the Sony’s sound better overall, but I wish they had the call quality that the AirPods have though, then it would be the perfect truly wireless buds.
If the air pods were $50 cheaper then they are easier to recommend. It really comes down to how you use them and the fit. I had to buy a different set of ear tips for the Sonys as they would not stay in my ear while working out. Now they fit great and snug and don’t feel like they will fall out. I wonder if the reviewer was having sound issues due to a poor seal? Sound quality and noise cancelling are both seriously affected by the ear tip you use
Great review! Thanks Kelly! May I know if the AirPod Pro can support multi-point connectivity? For example when you are watching a movie with an iPad, when a call comes in, the movie pauses and your iPhone rings?
Kevin Hui There’s no multipoint pairing. However if a call came through on the iPhone while you were watching a movie on your iPad, you can easily select the AirPods Pro in the sound output options on the call and choose the AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro within about 2 seconds will disconnect from your iPad and connect to iPhone and you can now use them for calls.
Thanks for the review! I was looking for a pair of earbuds and the original airpods were tempting since I'm an iPhone owner, but having to take the subway everyday to commute made the Sony's anc a must. I was a bit disapopinted because the airpods "pocketability" and convienience made them super appealing to me, but being unable to hear my music on my way to school would have redered them useless. The airpods pro seems to be everything I am looking for!
shrimp you’re the dumb fuck. You with your “as do I” agreed with Mister Mister, but he actually said he preferred the Sony while you say you prefer the airods... so it’s not “as do I”
What’s the blue blinking light on the Sony’s earbuds when you take them out of the case doe? Like is it always blinking and can you get rid of it somehow?
I am looking for truly wireless earphones to use on the London Underground because even at full blast certain headphones you can here lots of the surrounding sounds
I have the Sony and my kid has the Airpods Pro. The Sony’s are far, far better. I am wearing the AirPods right now with the ANC on and can still faintly hear the TV. I don’t have this problem with the Sony. Had the Sony on in a recent flight and with the music on I could not hear the plane. The sound has far more presence and detail on the Sony as well, the airpods just sound flat in comparison. The only difference I feel is that the Airpods are slightly more comfortable, less weight in your ear. Both earphones though give me some ear fatigue after about 20 minutes use. I do not hear any distortion when using the ANC on the Sony either. The Sony app is also pretty good for more control over the transparency. For me the only advantage of the Airpods are they are a bit more comfortable, lighter and have a smaller case. The Sony are a far better and cheaper earphone.
Were you listening to electric or acoustic music and what volume levels were you listening at? Distortion may occur is you are listening to some bass-heavy. music like hip hop at high levels like a lot of young people do as opposed to the acoustic jazz I listen to. I have not noticed the problem you mention with the Sony's but I would never play my music loud.
I recently lost my first gen air pods and decided to pick up the pros but find the pros kinda un comfortable after using the originals for so long. I also found the transparency mode twitchy when switching one side to the other when wearing one at a time. Did you experience this issue. Are the sonys more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. And do you know if there is a way to shut off that blue light on the sonys.
Vincent DellaPorta No issues with switching between ANC and transparency mode. The comfort on both is excellent and I can wear either for long periods of time. There’s no way to turn off the blue light on the Sony’s.
I have both and the sound quality of the Sony is better than the AirPods Pro. If this reviewer isn't bias, he is very subjective compare to many people who have tried both brands.

I think that when it comes to Bluetooth buds, sound quality is Not the only consideration. People use these devices for phones, commuting, and casual listening in transit or crowded spaces. These are not studio phones. If audio is primary, go wired.
I don’t agree with your assessment of the sound quality on the AirPods. I think they sound underwhelming and there’s a roll off on the treble frequencies. But I do enjoy the ease of use with my iOS products. Thanks for this review.
Great review. I’m looking for EarPods that I can wear while walking in Atlanta - or any large city and still be able to receive phone calls without yelling into the air (seen it done - embarrassing!). You answered my concerns about that and the active noise cancellation. Seems like the AirPod Pros are the ones I need. Thanks again
Updated firmware has been released for the Sony earbuds with control to the volume from the buds and better call quality sound. I have ordered the Sony and they are on the way. Thank you for this review.
I came so close to pulling the trigger on the Sonys, but I wanted something with sweat resistance for use at the gym. I considered the Jabra Elites for the sweat resistance, but they don't have noise cancelling. I have the original Airpods, but I hate them because they don't stay in my ears. The Airpods Pro came out at the perfect time for me.
Revisiting this video after having had the AirPods Pro for a couple of days now I must say you do such an accurate description of their pros and cons. Ease of use and comfort wise they are best in class. BUT I must say I'm not satisfied with the bass , it's a bit too week for my taste, some times songs and audiobooks come across as if they were coming out of pretty small cheap speakers. They do respond pretty well to EQ for increased base but it's not system wide and doesn't work outside Spotify or Music when I'm listening to Audible or Podcasts or on my PC. I've compared them to my AKG K3003i, AKG 701, Earin M-2 as well as my desktop speakers Audio Engine 5's and in all cases male voices and sound fullness is better on all of them. If I tweak the EQ in Spotify I can get them to sound quite acceptable but man I'm not satisfied but will likely keep using them due to the comfort and ACN convenience when commuting and at work. I'd like to try the XM3 but the case doesn't look portable with my pants pocket and they look freaking huge, this wont fly when I'll have to use a cap in winter as cold air will surely leak in. But man the Transparency mode on APP is nearly flawless, it's almost like you're not wearing them, the ANC is very good considering the size and the open vent designs makes these super comfortable to wear for a long duration without fatigue or in-ear pressure. These are almost perfect if only for the lack of satisfying bass.
TheGamingAudiophile maybe about half way to the top on the left most and the second one in between. I've not settled on one EQ entirely yet. A lot of people report the amount of base response differently. I noticed that if I listen too higher volumes it's noticeably better and I think those people listen to higher volumes as well while I usually listen too moderate to low volume on my devices.
I got these since August but to be honest no matter how i played with EQ settings, the sound is not very impressive considering the price (£220 here in UK). I actually find my old AKG tuned wired earbuds came with S9+ for free sound even better and clearer. If i play 50% volume with samsung earbuds they sound louder than 50% of volume from WF1000XM3.
Have both. Surprised at how great the APPs are. The slightly better quality of the 1000mx3 does not make up for the substantially better ease of use and convenience you get using APPs with iOS devices. Also the de-pressurization valve on the APPs make them supremely comfortable.
I had the Bose Soundsport and changed to the Sony, i've been generally disappointed with them for various reasons, the first one is that they're really uncomfortable and I always have the feeling that they're about to fall out (even though it's never happened). Also, I used them for exercising and the fact that they're not sweat resistant is alway in the back of my mind. I also hate the fact that you need to disconnect from bluetooth to change it to my ipad, which is very very bad (the bose were automatic with the press of the button). The ANC is wonderful though, it does sound better than anything that I've had. It's just that they have way too many inconveniences. I'm thinking about the Airpods Pro, but am unsure regarding the comfort and how steady they are when exercising. What do you think?
I don't know if Sony changed the software, but now, if I connect a different device to my Sonys, they automatically disconnect from the old source, then reconnect to the new one.
Sony’s distorts treble?? Wow never heard that on mines. You need to tell us your settings on the Sony’s equalizer. Perhaps I missed that part part but in order to compare they both need to be in same conditions. Sony’s have way better sound quality and also the ability to control eq.
Hitesh Inder Singh Rai The AirPods bass is more neutral but very deep and clean. The Sony’s bass is adjustable but in stock, it has more bass than the AirPods and is also deep and clean. The Sony’s bass is more customizable so it may offer you the amount that you want.
I've never had distortion with any of my songs and I've had the Sony's for quite a while now and I listen to my music on full blast I've never heard the distortion or any other noise while listening to music and I also always have noise cancellation on
Christian Colgan Listen to the song Dominator Mode by S.P.Y. At the beginning you’re gonna hear a constant cymbal hit. It sounds papery with the Sony’s near at max volume volume while ANC is on. When you disable the ANC, the cymbal hits in the beginning of the song sounds clean and crisp. Try it out. Yep
So happy I made the right decision - even if the difference is minimal and preferable, the modern, light design is a biiiig thing for me with the AirPods as well. Now they just need to be matte black and I’ll be set 🦾
pinkbecca12 The AirPods bass is more neutral but very deep and clean. The Sony’s bass is adjustable but in stock, it has more bass than the AirPods and is also deep and clean. The Sony’s bass is more customizable so it may offer you the amount that you want.
For the people who is using android phone, could airpods will still be good? I like bass sounds but I like light one, so I am difficult to decide my mind.
Yes. I had the Airpods 1 and they work well. Just download a 3rd party app to tell the battery life. Airpods Pro is compatible to Android phones as well. You can toggle the Active Noise Cancelling on and off by holding the stem of the airpods pro. Thats the only way
@@fightnight14 I did not even think about that! Since my android phone has reverse wireless charging and i did not like the wf-1000xm3(i did return them), it could be of interest...Will wait for Sennheiser and Bose next offer, if i go back true wireless again
@@JoeGillian0 if you care about call, mic quality and latency, I highly recommend any of the Airpods. It's still unrivaled so far but if you wanna wait, Google's Pixel Buds 2 are also a good candidate and its cheaper than Airpods 2 and Pro
Finger at back of bud in case and pull forward works on most earbuds so easy to remove from the case, sorry cracked see so many reviewers having trouble removing buds from the case.
I have the Sony WF-1000Xm3 and the old airpods. The only thing,a big deal though, I don't like the WF-1000Xm3 is that it's so hard to switch among devices. And another thing Sony WF-1000Xm3's ANC doesn't quite work against human voices and the promotion claims that it's a feature, which I don't like either.
Just sold my Sony's, very buggy with both ears working at the same time. Playing music was good, not so good with call quality. Hoping the AirPods Pros will be better.
the airpod pros might not have better sound quality but they are about the same imo i have both and also the airpods pro are waayy more convenient because of the small case
I brought the Sony’s and had to take them back because they hurt my ears. They go too deep for me and I felt a lot of pressure around the entrance of my ear no matter what tip I used.
All my devices are Apple products.... Eventho the sound quality is important but the practicality and ease of use is much much much and much more important than the sound quality. I am not just blasting my ears with music for 5 hours or more, a bit of everything therefore Apple AirPod wins as an overall earbud. Plus the sound quality difference between them isn’t even that huge.
@@TheGamingAudiophile a, is that I have the wh-x1000m3 and I wanted to buy the wf-1000xm3, but since I saw that pro airpods came out, I wanted to change my Galaxy buds
For workouts the AirPods are better (sweat resistant and don’t fall out). For calls the AirPods again are better. Sound quality is better on Sony for most and better on AirPods for some (minority). If sound quality is your only deciding factor then I’ll go with the momentum’s (or Sony’s if you favor a stronger bass than neutral or AirPods if neutral bass with more clarity is preferred). If it isn’t and you have apple products then AirPods are the better buy. Tbh, it is a sophisticated algorithm to determine which to get, due to so many factors. Some factors weigh more than others.
The Sony’s are probably better in comparison to the Airpods Pro but I still prefer Airpods since it feels a little easier to use for me. I’m just used to AirPods so the Pro’s will probably be good for me. Only thing I don’t like about the Sony buds is the design but I’m pretty sure the sound quality is better than the AirPods
Ok folks the Sony earbuds sounds so much better with the Jabra 65t silicone large eartips! Trust me people sound quality is drastically improved with those tips! It also improves the loudness and I don't need to go over 75% of volume. I'm going to paste this recommendation at every channel that reviews the Sonys. Fyi
I own about 9 pair of buds and the Sony has what i'd call HD fidelity, crisp, articulate the only pair I've actually turned the bass down just a little and the Air Pods Pro sound sound sterile, very flat and not the least exciting. I really wanted to like them and while i agree the call quality is much better on the Air Pods Pro. I listen to music 95% of the time. So for me it's Sony all the way
Sound quality on the pods suck trebles are horrible the highs are kinda screeching and the low are ok. The Sony shouldn't be compared with the pods they need to be compared with shenhizer. Plush the Sony can be adjusted in your liking with there App.
Sound quality comparison is 14:39

Thanks for the great comparison, just bought the pros and loving them. The water resistance and no hiss ANC were key for me.
When taking the Air Pods Pro out of the case pinch them perpendicularly and pull them toward you. That’s the easy way to take them out each time.

I'm thinking about the Airpods Pro, but am unsure regarding the comfort and how steady they are when exercising. What do you think?
Juan Valverde Definitely give the AirPods Pro a try.
I don't know if Sony changed the software, but now, if I connect a different device to my Sonys, they automatically disconnect from the old source, then reconnect to the new one.
The other 2 comparison videos on CZcams say the ANC and sound quality is better on the Sony’s so I don’t know who to believe
I hope apple updates the headphones via firmware and improve the ANC even more and lift the bass and mids back up when ANC is active.
Sony’s distorts treble?? Wow never heard that on mines. You need to tell us your settings on the Sony’s equalizer. Perhaps I missed that part part but in order to compare they both need to be in same conditions. Sony’s have way better sound quality and also the ability to control eq.
Miguel The Sony’s were on its stock sound signature.
Which ones out of these has better bass ??
Hitesh Inder Singh Rai The AirPods bass is more neutral but very deep and clean. The Sony’s bass is adjustable but in stock, it has more bass than the AirPods and is also deep and clean. The Sony’s bass is more customizable so it may offer you the amount that you want.
Did you even test it outdoor?
Derek Chung Yes, in the mall and on a commute.
Exactly the video I needed
Thanks man
Which is more comfortable,Air Pods Pro or WF-1000XM3?
Cyber Reeper It’s answered in the video.
AirPod pros are more comfortable but the Sony sound and ANC is much better. Never had a problem with the distortion that he mentions on my Sony.
@@crybo Can you stay a lot of time with earbuds on without fatigue?
Now they just need to be matte black and I’ll be set 🦾
i just hope apple can add additional options in the AirPods pro like software update on apple watch
Which one is lauded ? Thank you
Sol L AirPods Pro.
which one has better bass?
pinkbecca12 The AirPods bass is more neutral but very deep and clean.
Thats the only way
Hi, lightning port instead of usb-c or microusb makes it a big No go for me...same thing for iphones
@@JoeGillian0 i dont mind because they have wireless charging
Are the AirPods Pro loud? The AirPods 2 are not
When pressing the AirPods pro to get a good seal do you hear some microphone feedback ?
Rkid 4 Just a bit but nothing drastic.
TheGamingAudiophile thank you. I think I got a defective pair cos mine is super loud ugh :/
Sony lack water/sweat resistant
I don’t have 100% of my hearing which ones are louder in volume
Jesse Arista The AirPods Pro.
TheGamingAudiophile Thank you
I have the Sony WF-1000Xm3 and the old airpods.
John Haley I agree. They had connection issues with my iPhone. The call quality was garbage compared to my AirPods and they were very uncomfortable.
This guys definitely AirPod product from they way how deliver the presentation
the airpod pros might not have better sound quality but they are about the same imo i have both and also the airpods pro are waayy more convenient because of the small case
6:07 I thought that was coming from outside wtf
Hahaha me too
I only realized it was coming from the video reading your message!
same here
looked down the balcony ;D
I’m in the country with the AirPod Pros in noise cancellation mode and thought someone was breaking in my truck 🤣🤣🤣
I brought the Sony’s and had to take them back because they hurt my ears. They go too deep for me and I felt a lot of pressure around the entrance of my ear no matter what tip I used.
mmoore4249 that’s what she said
All my devices are Apple products....
Got em...... well worth it anc is amazing! Apple nailed these....a rare win!
Yeah the white noise sound on the sonys make me mad
so it sounds like ..tape cassette without noise reduction?
Hi, which one has better noise cancellation?
luis A FP The AirPods Pro.
@@TheGamingAudiophile Does that cancellation compare with the wh-x1000m3?
luis A FP No, the WH-1000Xm3 is overall better.
@@TheGamingAudiophile a, is that I have the wh-x1000m3 and I wanted to buy the wf-1000xm3, but since I saw that pro airpods came out, I wanted to change my Galaxy buds
For me the best is Sony WF-1000XM3 🔥 🔥
Zael Busta is there any bluetooth problem while your are walking outside ???
@@erhankurtulmus2625 Never noticed it. No problem on bluetooth.
@Gecko thanks . I asked this because of most bluetooth earbuds are disconnecting for a one second while you are walking outside ...
@@erhankurtulmus2625 Never heard nor experienced that.
Can you use them hours without fatigue?
Great review
I felt like I needed to learn some music theory in order to watch this video but it still was a great video!
Finally someone that see the AirPods pro for what they really are. They blew me away with a equalizer running them. I was like WOW!
So for me it's Sony all the way
You need better audio in your videos. I have to jack my volume up to max to hear a word you're saying.
Thanks for the review. I still go to sony.
Yeah I don’t think I want my earphones flashing a light every 2 seconds
They don’t, they only flash when they are not in your ears to show they are on still on and paired
Wow. I did not expect you to like the sound of the AirPods pro over the Sony. That’s good to know. Thanks!
It is clear that you are bias towards apple.
Seriously, how much did Apple pay you to be so biased?
What he chooses 20:00
Sound quality on the pods suck trebles are horrible the highs are kinda screeching and the low are ok. The Sony shouldn't be compared with the pods they need to be compared with shenhizer. Plush the Sony can be adjusted in your liking with there App.
Fantastic review! Surprised to hear they beat out the Sony's.
@Ezugo Obuekwe They beat them out in sound quality and noise canceling if I remember correctly.
