- Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann on Channel Nine Australia's Morning Show 09APRIL2013.
Happy for people to use this on their own channels or websites - all I ask is that you please don't add any of your own annoying watermarking to it. - Zábava
"It's a right of passage for a doctor to defeat the daleks"
McGann awkwardly re-adjusts.
Paul McGann looks amazingly fit and young. Sylvester is such a lovely chatterbox! And Colin...dear Colin...been enjoying the good life too much I think ^_^
It was good to see such enthusiasm from the interviewers and Doctors !
3 Legends in one room. This is too much...
the character is legendary at this point i wouldn't say these 3 were the best examples of the DR . but their professionals who are being just that during this interview so it's worth a watch for that reason!!
pvtrichter88 Why are you using two spaces between each word?
leolee708 maybe i was a bit twitchy from too much coffee so i'll concentrate better this time around!
Paul is such a good actor: just watch him when they mention not being in the 50th - He doesn't give anything away, but now, looking back, we all know what he's really thinking!
War Doctor was unnecessary. Paul should’ve teamed up with Tennant and Smith
Got to love that crazed superfan who's forgotten how to say "Paul McGann" and hopes, at some point, to meet the first three Doctors...
And also it's misspelled on screen at 1:33 as well.
I don't understand if Paul did all the promotional stuff why didn't he just have the role instead of John Hurt in "The Day of the Doctor"!? :)
+TassieLorenzo You make a good point. With Paul McGann they could tied the whole thing into the Time War more. Perhaps even do a dozen flashback minisodes featuring Paul.
moffet didnt think he could pull of the darkness.
www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/dark-eyes-792
fuck you moffet
He was in a mini episode that canonised a group of audio adventures Paul did around 2005. If he had been the "war doctor" in Day of The Doctor it would have clashed with the audio adventures.
Kyle Whitehead no it wouldnt. Day of the doctor with paul would take place just before his regeneration to chiris. Which would take place at the end of the time war. The audios at the moment are doing the start of the time war with doom coalitio and dark eyes and even new monsters classic doctors which takes place in the time war for 8.it totaly could of worked with continuity
Ah. Fair enough. Well if it was indeed possibly then they should certainly have had eight in the special.
Would have been better if the actors could have finished their sentences before being asked he next question...
Yes, Paul McCann, and the woman that can't stop looking at the camera interrupted him. Thanks for upload.
What an awful interview. Those 3 are true professionals, especially Paul. Even though they stuffed up his name and cut him off, he was humble at the end and thanked them... maybe he thanked them for ending the interview.
Great interview. Such entertaining fellows.
This is amazing!
sylvester mccoy :i blew Up skaro
lol
Well, he did... And then 7 & Ace enjoyed unlimited rice pudding. In seriousness, Remembrance of the Dalek's is still hands-down one of the best Dalek stories in history if you ask me, though I would be pretty bias seeing as he's my Doctor.
"I blew up skaro! I blew up skaro!!"
I have met sylvester McCoy
WHERE!!!
at least he faced them in the radio series
I love how they all refer to him as 'he' when they've all been him. :)
Paul McCann! LOLZ!
There are people who think that McGann doesn't count, and that Eccleston was Doctor eight. So by their standards, we're only on ten instead of eleven.
It's funny you should say that, when he started as the doctor, the producers wanted him to play the role much like Hartnell.
They got Paul's name wrong not MacCann its MacGann. Even the host whose an apparent big fan still got it wrong himself!
Well, I think the producers should give what the fans want and put classic doctors in it!
MCGANN! MCGANN!
I've had the pleasure of meeting Tom Baker and Peter Davison, I grew up with classic who and Tom will forever be my doctor, but all of them had their moments, remembering they ARE all one person! And I happen to like Paul McGann, the movie wasnt so great, but I have about 20 of his big finish audios, and wow!
Yes. Yes they are.
McCoy looks angry when they mention Matt Smith XD
Because Colin Baker looks so different it would be easy to give him a part in the 50th as not the Doctor
ahhhhhhhhhhhh i wish i knew about this, i missed it on tv, god damn it :/
yes!
Hate to break it to you, but Paul has been confirmed as the 8th Doctor for quite a while. Don't like the movie? Try the audio dramas. They're fantastic, they honestly deserve a full series based off of them!
I just love Sylvester McCoy
we all do!
5:57 poor collin got interrupted twice
May the Supreme Chancellor of Gallifrey grant eternal life to all Doctors!
Colin Baker: I fought the Daleks
Sylvester McCoy: I blew up Skaro
Paul McGann: ...
It's not actually that bad. He was a really good Doctor. I'm an american and I approve of it
My 3 favorites.
Honestly? Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy are usually the least favorite Doctors of most fans. I'd be curious to learn why they are in your top 3. Story-wise and politics-wise, I don't think either got their best chance to shine at all, especially Colin Baker. The higher ups started screwing up the very fabric of the show itself by the time Colin baker was brought on board. Poor guy had to submit to so many misguided influences right out of the gate.
Their takes on the character, regardless of script quality, I am also a fan of 3 and 12.
+WickedArtist462 in my case Sylvester isn't my favorite doctor but he's my favorite actor who has played the Doctor, he's such a funny, warm, like able guy in real life
If you want reasons why some fans actually like McCoy's Doctor despite the obvious drawbacks he had to tolerate, then it's quite simple:
7 is still the darkest and most precise Doctor the show has ever had, which by itself makes him an interesting case. On top of that, 7 & Ace are also one of the best TARDIS duo's the show ever had -- Ace, the tragic teenage rebel with a dark past / a bad-ass who loved blowing shit up. She conflicted with her devious and melancholic but fatherly mentor, the "Chess Master", yet despite their glaringly obvious differences, they were still a tight-knit family-like unit. The companion as brawn, the Doctor as brain - a family on an adventure, or a teacher looking out for the rebellious student, and their chemistry was absolutely brilliant.
Lastly, it's the stories. Even in the mostly hated first season, it was clear the writers wanted to experiment in the hopes of finding a new dynamic to work with. I'd argue that much hated episodes like "Happiness Patrol" are really, really brilliant if you read between the lines as a stab at British Politics, and even has underlining Gay Rights themes that children won't notice. It was also creepy as hell, too, with things like the Kandy Man. The season as a whole mostly failed, and the budget was literally a dollar per episode. By the time they found their stride in season 2, there was a sharp and blatant rise in writing quality with the likes of Remembrance of the Daleks etc. By the last season, 7 and Ace were almost fully developed and still had many aspects of themselves to explore, with Curse of Fenric and Ghost Light being character pieces of high atmosphere and good writing (solely let down by the editors cutting too much out of the episodes, making them confusing). The dark Doctor exploring the dark past of the fearful companion, against her wishes.
Bonus points for the actors themselves. Sylvester played his Doctor in a way that can ONLY be described as very Doctorish (ancient, curious and wise, yet still with that 'alien charm' where you can clearly see they don't really 'fit' with the humans), whilst Sophie reflected off of him brilliantly with charming performances. Go to the Doctor Who channel, watch the "Truth about Ace" scene they uploaded from Curse of Fenric, and tell me you didn't feel a pang when she screams after being utterly demoralized by the Doctor. It's obviously far more impactful when you watch the entire episode, yet you can still see just how genuine she played it.
I could rant all day about the 7th Doctor - he was brilliant when you take everything into account while watching him, and moreso when you understand just how hell-bent the BBC wanted to bury him and the show during his tenure. So unfortunate for Sylvester as he deserved more than what he got.
Another reason is that their run had a lot of adult themes. The lesbian undertones in Survival, the politics & gay rights of Happiness Patrol, the self-satire of Greatest Show in the Galaxy (which was basically an episode self-describing BBC's treatment of Doctor who, with mirrors of the Doctor & Ace, the 'die-hard fan', and the unhappy viewers). Aside from that, you had below mentioned character depth between the two characters.
And, aside from all of that, you just had kick-ass action. If you've read anything I've written, do yourself a favour - type "Babelcolour McCoy Years" in the search and enjoy a Michael Bay version of 7th's televised run, and just enjoy how much shit the dynamic duo had to put up with to save the galaxy.
Someone needs to listen to the Big Finish Audios.
Wow does Paul look good.
reminds me of the 2nd & 3rd Doctors squabbling :P
Their still the Doctor's on Audio.
Except he is Canon, like it or not. He's been referred to in the official series.
"I've defeated more Daleks than you!!"
Paul Mcgann could've been a great doctor
he is. just listen to his big finish stuff
Big Finish Audio please save the 50th
Paul Mcgann IS the 8th Doctor.
lol, the presnter saying pauls name wrong and even the graphics!!! haha its mcgann! good vid tho :-)
They should have given these guys cameos in the 50th just as random characters. Just to involve them and for fans to have a little wee.
The only thing that was retconned from the movie was the doctor being half-human. A lot of material published since then has made efforts to explain it away. For example, in the comic-book 'The Forgotten', the 8th Doctor claims he pretended to be half-human to confuse the Master. Other than that, the movie is canon and the 8th Doctor was seen in cameos a few times since the series came back.
Bruno's Geek Reviews also the fact hes done hundereds of the audios
Paul McCann xD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paul Mccan XD!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sylv and Paul could still do it. They look like they haven't aged at all
I think gutless Grade is the most evil doctor who villain
I read the video description. You telling mpeople that you're happy with them using footage that you don't own and then ordering them not to put their own "annoying" watermarks on it.
I don't care that you don't own this but the fact is that it isn't yours, so you have no right to tell people what they can and cannot do with this.
While the movie could've been better McGann does count as an official Doctor. Every time they do a Doctor roll call on the show he's right there at #8.
Okay seriously, has McGann even aged?
Damn, Colin looks so different. Although I'm sure if he trimmed down he could play Hartnell.
I like McCoy more now, than back then
I'd like to see the Doc stop using the magic wand every 5 minutes and do the odd
MacGyverism to get out of trouble
That's becasue Crocs are cool.
I'm pretty sure it's Paul McGann.
It is Paul McGann not McCann
Come to Latin Americaaaaa
Does Paul McCann age at all?
They changed D:
how are they gonna make the episode with multiple doctors!
I've never seen the movie, I hear it's terrible, but the way they've written the new seasons, it has to count. The Time War, the whole 'last Time Lord' thing, it's all very much a part of the new seasons, and if the movie doesn't count, you've got a whole section of Time Lord history unaccounted for.
Themovie was OK. And count, he is the eighth doctor.
But he is, it's part of canon
How often do you here someone compare Clint Eastwood and Jesus?
Did they go all the way to Australia?
they were in Brisbane and I didnt know? Where was I !!!!!!!!!!!!
Paul McCann??!?!?!?!?! IT'S PAUL MCGANN!!!!!!!
There were two problems with the 8th doctor movie. One was the half human story - which if you edit it out in your head is not a big deal so the movie is 5 minutes shorter. The other was that he was doing stuff like kissing and being romantic with an earth girl - which to the Tennent era fan would not even be noticed. But to the classic fans was too much to soon.
Sylv's choice of Crocs are rather unfortunate.
the movie wasnt that bad imo, my only problem with it was the continuity errors (of which there were plenty). i just sort of ignore them :3
Hamilton, NZ, Armageddon Expo
❤Jenna Louise Coleman ❤
No! I defeated the Daleks! No I defeated the Daleks! No! I did! hehe
What are they here for?
McGann is the eighth. If he wasn't, who was? Christopher Eccleston is obviously nine, so McGann is obviously eighth. LOGIC.
met 3 of them only 8 more to meet. ermmm if you were that much of a Whovian you would realise 3 of the 8 are no longer alive.
4 would be wonderful
5's daughter is married to David, so maybe if we're lucky
6 / 7 have work in other places,
8 is up in the air,
9 doesn't want to
As Sylvester said "Not the producers". Oh well.
yes!
Well, so I suppose he will have to acquire a TARDIS then. Or I suppose he could visit William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and John Pertwee's respective gravesites.
the movie was bad exept for paul mcganns amazing perfomance as the doctor
Well those people are wrong.
he's a fantatic but called him "Paul McCann"
the words on screen even say McCann, why?
The most unfamous doctors xD
Supposed to be super fan, yet called him Paul McCann!!!!!!!!
Paul Was never given a good chance and was handed a crappy American script. His audiobooks were superb.
McCann? I stopped watching there.
Are you seriously getting worked up about this? XD
The movie was beyond horrible, BUT Paul McGann was as perfect a choice to play the doctor as all the others
They've misspelt and mispronounced Paul McGann's surname, poor bloke.
They can't even spell McGann's name right.
Well if it isn't 2 of my favorite doctors (Colin Baker and Paul McGann) and one I'm kind of meh about.
Bla bla, three failed medicos all in a row on really crappy tv show....I'm a fuckin poet and wasnt aware of it....haha
Some stupid clips they show
why are the stupid?
To St well look at the clips they show of Colin, it's just him getting knocked out and dragged
What clip would you have shown? They must have just wanted a clip with him and some daleks and that was the first scene they found.
They are the worst interviewers ever! Just as the Doctors start to say something interesting they get cut off!
Paul Mcgann isn't a doctor. That movie was horrid and dosnt count. I apologize from America at our idiocy of the movie. :p
Are you seriously getting worked up about this? XD
