Or in space; imagine that! I always thought that this music should have also been used for an outer-space stage later in the game; I guess the designers didn't think of that, though...until later, and I don't think this song is in Super Mario Galaxy. (SHOULD BE, though, right?)
Played the game with my dad(grandfather) and this was the last song I ever played for him on guitar a few days before he passed. I come back here to hear the master play it. RIP Dee

@@laxstrat Your left hand frets a note, then your right hand index finger touches (but doesn't press down) directly above the fret that is 12 frets above the note the left hand is fretting. Another finger on your right hand (probably ring finger) picks the string. It's the same idea as playing a harmonic at the 12th fret, but if the left hand is holding a note on the third fret, for example, then the harmonic is now three frets up from the 12th fret, and you'll need to use your right hand to access it.
Videogame soundtracks can be crazy powerful. They give you this feeling that takes you back to your childhood and a sense of wonder. Awesome cover

I'm late to the party, but just thought I'd leave a story here:
My Grandfather with whom I was VERY close with got into video games around the time of Nintendo 64. Being a gamer myself this obviously got me very excited as we could share in that. Super Mario 64 was always his favorite game, countless hours and numerous playthroughs we would do together trying to 100% the game, they are my fondest memories. He unfortunately passed a few years ago, but when I listened to this cover for the first time, it took me right back, every memory came rushing back to me and I smiled for DAYS. I come back and listen to this often when I just need to remember life is good.

Marty Moberly Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 both have a handful of other beautiful tracks like this. “Space Junk Galaxy” comes to mind; I highly recommend looking that one up if you haven’t heard it before.

I don't feel it's "un-Mario" necessarily but to me it has always felt more like a credits theme than a course theme, if that makes sense.
Imo the "depth" is that aside from the risk of drowning, it feels safe... and almost truly happy... almost.

I love how you’re almost crying when you say “whatever happened to super Mario 63?” Like there’s a slight tremble in your voice, just adds so much beauty and depth to the meme. It’s as if you put vibrato on your voice, truly an amazing performance and delivery. A true genius would only know how to have such cadence for a punchline.
