  • In today's episode, I'm continuing my tour of the MTC with McLaren CEO Zak Brown; but this time exploring deeper in to the vaults of the beautiful building.
Zak gives me a tour of McLaren's hidden F1 car collection, and I'm very privileged to be shown the race control centre for the F1 Team.

A decade ago I was the CEO of two local Hospices and McLaren used to provide some sponsorship for us by way of a guided tour. In those days Ron Dennis was shall we say a reluctant partner in that exercise and to be fair we didn’t make the best of the opportunity limited though it was. That said it is so good to see Zak and you Josie show us around McLaren today. I really enjoyed it. It also rubs off on the staff. I live approximately 7 miles from the TLC and often drive one of my two classic cars across Chobham Common and pass the McLaren customer cars on road test with their drivers who give me a friendly wave. The drivers also use the local Shell station to fill up any new cars with petrol. Here I get to talk to the drivers because they are very complimentary about my cars, not, in my opinion, that they’re that good but it’s nice to talk to friendly people who clearly have an interest in all automotive matters, as I say the enthusiasm rubs off so Josie please thank Zak for being so open and enthusiastic about the team and their cars. They will soon be winning GP’s again.

I was so sceptical of Zak as a hire, but I could not have been more wrong. He has been and remains an incredible CEO, taking a chance and going outside of F1 to hire Seidl (I do love Porsche!). His moves are bold and visionary, without regard for playing it safe and doing what everyone else is doing. Together Zak and Andreas are punching well above their weight and are rebuilding my beloved McLaren into a superpower again. I cannot wait to celebrate another win.
PS, Zak was so classy when taking about the challenging time with Honda. I love that both teams are having tremendous success. It’s too bad it’s not together but at least they have both gone on to race winning and dare I say championship winning levels.

I wasn't allowed to go in so I just looked at the walls of the factories, but I loved it. I managed to sneak into the Force India facility and got to the front desk and saw two cars, trophy and a champagne bottle from 2009 Spa. I also went to Maranello and got to visit the Ferrari musem and went to Hinwil and stared at the trucks sitting outside. I wish the teams would display their cars, trophies, and gear. Hangar 7 in Salzburg has been the coolest display that I have seen, but also the Red Bull factory in the UK has all the trophies at the entrance so that was cool to see.

Great videos Jodie. Zak's enthusiasm for motor racing & the McLaren brand is just fantastic. Also a great fan of our V8 Supercars here in Australia. Even better now with an Aussie driver in the team & a Perth boy at that.

Another fantastic video. Thanks for taking us along. I'm also a wristwatch person and it's always fun to see what watches you're sporting.

The 2016 McLaren was one of my favorites. Such a beautiful looking car, when it has the short nose. And with Alo and But striking helmets.

really liking Zak Brown.comes across as such a nice guy. must be great to have him as a boss. ive been a mclaren fan since i started following F1 20 years ago. great to see them turning a corner and hopefully back to the front as title contenders. lets hope Zak builds that museum

Great insight into a fraction of whats behind the doors at MTC.
Just love the passion and calm approach to this presentation by both Zak and Jodie. You can feel the emotion without having an over excited presenter (unlike so many other CZcams motoring 'influencers"
