ABOUT RAINER HERSCH
British stand-up comedian Rainer Hersch has performed on every comedy stage in the UK and in more than thirty countries across the world. He has appeared thirteen times at Edinburgh Festival, headlined the famous Comedy Store and presented countless shows for BBC TV and Radio. A trained pianist and conductor, he also combines his comedy with music, leading orchestras from Australia to St Petersburg - including many Pops Concert series in the US and Canada. He has collaborated with some of the great names in classical music including Alfred Brendel, Nicola Benedetti, Dame Evelyn Glennie, and Marc-André Hamelin. All comedy orchestral arrangements are his.

I actually really love this Windows waltz. It sounds like something that Strauss would've composed. When I close my eyes and listen to this, I see a beautiful castle in 19th century Vienna with a lavish garden where well-dressed couples stroll on a sunny Sunday afternoon, flirting and marveling at the white marble and gold fountains.
ah yes, couples walking in their expensive clothes admiring the marble and gold while the peasant unwashed in the fields below break their backs under the plow and die of malnutrition and plague by the thousands.

This guy reminds me of my high school band teacher. Funny stage presence that brought context to the music we were playing. His stage presence brings a bit of emotion to the band and makes the whole band seem funny.

Nah they're just laughing because it's a gimmick piece. Musicians don't study music their whole lives and join a competitive orchestra because they don't like playing real music and would rather play some musical joke, they're just having fun because this piece allows it while normally your personality shouldn't be part of the performance.
