I'm sure the White house is scrambling to find ways to stop the Ukrainians from winning, just like they do all the time by sending them crippled weapons and sanctions on them if they actually fight back.

The best way for Ukraine to get their territory back is to have something to bargain with.

I doubt Ukraine will be able to hold this territory. This is more of a political move to sew dissatisfaction with the war amongst the Russian population. The Tet Offensive against the Americans during the Vietnam War is a great example of this.
Kursk is part of the Kingdom of Ukraine and is not Russian.

There's a video of a resident of Kursk filming himself, telling his story of how he came upon a group of Ukrainian soldiers who checked his documents "but weren't rude or anything." The guy asked the soldiers, "What do we do now?" They replied, "Learn Ukrainian hymn and prepare for a referendum." 😂

There is a nuclear power plant in Kursk, it appears the Ukrainian goal is to take that nuclear power plant, which is vital to the region... and then trade it for the Zaporozhye power plant that Russia is holding.
That makes a lot of sense.

If Russia saw troops being amassed at the border, what do you think would have happened? The same thing that happened when Russia tried it.
