For thousands of years, strength at sea has been one of the defining military factors of any world power. Naval strength is used to respond to territorial disputes as well as enforce maritime borders and protect national interests.
On this series of videos will include battleforce ships made up of aircraft carriers, frigates, destroyers, Submarines , (regardless of onboard technology employed, crew training, fleet quality, etc...). Corvette, Torpedo boats, patrol boats, Auxiliary vessels are not included. Landlocked nations are NOT penalized for the lack of a standing naval force and are, thus, excluded from this video.

@Hammerschlägen M Funny you mention it, the Times Magazine revealed that the Royal Navy couldn't deploy it's type 45 like it should and that this ship had engine problems, 12 remained in ports on the 13 in total.
The Royal Navy is the shadow of what it used to be because this country relies too much on the US.

I was a Sargent in the Portuguese armed forces and I can tell you that all forces in Europe are inter connected and synchronised for any eventuality. Otherwise what’s the point of all this multinational fleets and army and airforces training. Best regards

The Spanish frigate is called Santa Maria Class (the ones which were produced there). Any of the pictures correspond with any of the Spanish ones. And also, the submarines are known as Galerna Class in Spain. Thank you and greetings from a Spanish Sailor.

The Walrus Class Submarine has diesel-electric power and the Class 214 AIP an not Diesel-electric. I miss the mordern german Class 123 Frigate.

Hugo most French vessels are old. There are not getting f15 frigates it's single figures and they are only buying 6 subs.

UK will not be part of the proposed European army or navy that the organisation is trying to control in Brussels after brexit.
But it will still be a member of Nato which is a commitment to help protect Europe in the event there's a threat to Europe from outside.

Actually It would be great also to make video that include smaller EU navy forces since this is very western and predominantly larger nations oriented display. For instance fast attack rocket ships, that are one class below Frigates - but also are very capable navy resources, weren't included!

There are a few issues here besides the obvious lack of political desirability:
Inclusion of ships being taken out of service as well as their yet to be completed replacements (Baden Wurt. and Bremen classes)
Some vessels classed as destroyers are in reality frigates (FREMM), some vessels classed as frigates are in reality OPVs (Thetis).
Lack of commonality and varying degrees of preparedness and quality of training make joint missions very difficult even if the EU can decide on what they want to do (unlikely).
Brexit. (deduct most potent assets).

apart from charles de gaulle there is no other aircraft carrier, the others are equivalent to diesel helicopter carriers, you consume 40% of the fuel just to take off and can not even transport half of what a french aircraft can carry, and I'm not even talking about the nuclear bomb

@Doug 1885 in my opinion you can disband it. NATO is just something to increase US control over european states. We can defend ourself from any threat with our current budget and military. Who would attack us? Russia? Their economy depends on GAS export to Europe, so their economy would collapse if they attack, and anyway we have way larger manpower and more numbers of quality equipment.

Watching the video made me think about what a great project the EU could be even military wise, instead most countries are more prone to fuck each other. That said, 3 countries have a really serious navy, ITALY, FRANCE AND UK, even if the last not in the EU anymore. With serious i'm not only talking about age and tech but also with very powerful naval military industry behind them.

The first of the Type 26's will start rolling out from 2023 onward for the United Kingdom.
British will have another 3 of 4 Astute class subs, also the first of 5 Type31e Frigates, and Type 26 HMS Glasgow. You should know the UK is renewing its whole fleet there are plans for 4 new 17,500 tonne Dreadnought Boomers.
Italy is building other 3 trieste class lhd/lha andone full size julius ceasar aircraft carrier ,probably carryng the tempest.

NATO, and the EU, are two very different organisations. The UK is a very important part of NATO, and has no plans whatsoever to quit NATO.

Perry" class in the Polish Navy, the second photo describing the "Sodermanland" class submarine presents the Polish submarine of the "877-Kilo Class" project ... When making such material, please try to get more accurate descriptions of individual units.

Indeed there were a few mistakes not for lack of knowledge but for lack of pre publishing checks... obviously the walrus class is not nuclear, and the 2 polish frigates are included on the 10 Oliver h. Perry mentioned but I didn’t include the Polish flag and it was supposedly be 6 for Spain and 2 for Poland therefore should be 8 not 10, there’s another mistake that you didn’t spot. When I realised the mistake it was too late... I’ve already explained this to previous subscribers several times. No UK is still bound to Military Contracts with the EU. Its still part of the European Council and Nato.... Wich means they are bound to defend Europe in case of Invasion.

In Spain web have not Andy "Hazard Perry" frigates. The Spanish Armada have the "Santa María" class, designed by Navantia and builded In Spain.
You are absolutely right but Spain only have 8 vessels of that class and on this video are 10 included 2 of the polish navy( forgot the flag): ( , therefore I named it “hazard perry”... hope it didn’t compromise the quality of the video for you... thank you for the update... regards

Correction: the Hazard Perry/Santa María class were built in Spain but designed in USA.
@@Karthagast Well, that's true. The Santa Maria class design is bases in the Hazard Perry Frigates. They're a "transition model" between a Navy based in foreign ships and the today Navy, based in Ships designed and builded in Spain (Alvaro de Bazan class, Juan Carlos I class, Meteoro Class -BAM-, S80 class...)
However, ther're some significative diferences between a Hazard Perry and a Santa Maria .
Keep in mind that I don't say what is better: Hazard Perry ship's are extremly good ships.

Great Britain , Spain ,Italy, France the do everything to keep their "complete Fleet" Netherlands and Germany the neccesary and effectiveness and Greece the tradition and big numbers (comparing population size etc )
Well Germany's Navy is growing a bit now with 4 new Frigates, 5 new Corvettes, 2 new Submarines and 6 new "Multikombatships MKS 180" they're supposed to be the new Flagship of the German Navy

Italy’s Navy is not Better than the uk. Sure you might have numbers but technology and reliability is severely lacking in its ships. Half of them are outdated and would of been scraped by now by the french and British navy 😓
