- Flying into the crater of an active volcano in a wingsuit? It had never been done before, but that didn't stop experienced wingsuiter and skydiver Sebastián Álvarez from wanting to try. He's flown over volcanos before, but with a new suit design and careful preparation he became the first person to fly into, and out of, an active volcano in a wingsuit.

So with his ability to gain altitude with the wingsuit, it IS possible to stall out at an altitude, which means landing without a parachute is possible. I wonder how long it will be before they accomplish that.

Wingsuits stall at about 150 km/h if I remember correctly... sure, you can cancel the vertical velocity but still have to deal with the forward one. that being said, it has technically been done - look up Gary Connery
Not really possible because you are either going too fast forward while stalling or going down too fast. To actually land you will always need a parachute sized surface. Or you find a hill with the right angle that would work.

From the screen data, I count an altitude change of about 50 Meters or around 150 feet. How high was he above the volcano rim when he crossed/entered. Pretty scary in such a small width, but seems pretty shallow as well. Nonetheless; a daring feat.

Hey red bull! Really and truly an impressive feat of extreme wing suit flying that took an amazing amount of skill and courage but he only flew over the active volcano not "flying into an active volcano"! The more realistic title of flying almost into an active volcano would not make the stunt any less impressive! More red and less bull please! Ride ride ride!
Video seems to indicate about 8 meters below lip. However there is both highest lip and lowest lip. I'd bet this is below the highest lip, not the lowest. Not enough info to convince be this isn't extremely misleading. still good footage

I am fascinated by the unusual ways Red Bull promotes their beverage. They must have a department with a large budget where the employees have meetings making decisions on the risky and bizarre things they are going to sponsor. That sounds like a fun job, especially compared to wingsuiting into volcanoes.
Red Bull pretty much dominates extreme sports , has 2 f1 teams and is far from just a drink company. If anything they do it more for brand image than product endorsement
