Adjustable Camber Arms! : BMW E36 325i Drift Build Ep.24

  • In preparation for boost, I upgrade my chassis by installing some adjustable rear control arms. They grant you the ability to completely adjust rear camber, and are very simple to install. I would recommend them to anybody looking to drift/participate in motorsport events. Anyways, this is just the first of many things to come for the E36 so stay tuned for more content.

    Austin, I noticed your front wheel wells are cut out, front of the strut towers. Do you have a video on that, or know of another video that talks about the structural integrity?? I recently bought an e36 and it is rusted where yours is cut out.
    Thanks!

    • @austinferguson5504
      @austinferguson5504  Před 7 lety

      Unfortunately, I don't have a video on it. Although, removing it doesn't really affect structural rigidity or anything since it's in front of the shock towers. I cut mine out because the passenger side sheet metal was all crumpled (from where it was wrecked). A lot of people cut the metal out to open up the engine bay. It really helps to keep temperatures down within the bay, and will also let you easily adjust your alignment with the car on the ground. I hope this helps you at least a little bit. +Justin Grochmal

      alex hultman a little you say? billstein coilovers are top of the line art pieces. theres plenty of 200-300 dollar coilovers, not the best but it'll do the job

      @ButteredUpToast Před 7 lety

      KIRASPUNISHMENT best coilovers imo are bc coilovers. Im completely speaking outta my ass because ive never owned a set but the reviews ive seen have been nothing but good.

    • @ethanmiles20
      @ethanmiles20 Před 4 lety

      Purely depends on the usage. I would say if you're on a budget and you just have a street car/light autocross then even maxspeedingrods will be fine but if you want to track it I would at least get the BC set. I will also add in that you can get racelands but I don't think they make a set that will fit the M3 set up since the sway bar goes to the strut, for some reason the maxspeedingrods coils are the only cheap, full threaded, 24 way dampening eBay coil setup I can find so if you have an M it's either those or BC

    I'm looking at these for the opposite reason, I've lowered the car about 1.5" and the rear wheels are cambered too much and it's not exactly desirable for grip or even tyre wear so I want to straighten them back up a bit.

    • @bhagvedsingh2147
      @bhagvedsingh2147 Před 7 lety +2

      Austin Ferguson ... Its all to do with the three bolts on the trailing arm.. had a similar problem when working on my friends E36 racecar.. even if its aligned properly heavy track abuse and drifting will cause misalignment because of the flex that the stock rubber bushes allow, Upgrade to solid poly bushes and itll be the end of your problems.. also upgrade your front lower control arm bushes to poly(get the offset ///M3 ones for extra caster) itll help you maintain your front wheel alignment when cornering or driftng, coz the stock rubber ones flex a lot, affecting your alignment when on the limit. keep up the awesome videos. Im in South Africa but i only use REVSHIFT mounts/bushings , even though it takes over a month and a half to get here ..www.revshift.com they come with a lifetime guarentee and are the best in the business

    just a few things:
    1) i hope you wrapped your camera with something or are you really using it with those dirty hands? omg i get so pissed even when i've got dirty hands and my phone rings
    2) how could you use that adjustable wrench all the time? I used it like 2 or 3 times in my life and i hate them so much, they never stay in place
    3) do NOT ever do that thing @6:03, you're gonna fuck up so many bolts by doing it. always keep a hand (usually the left/your weaker one) on the top of the wrench to firmly keep it in place and then use your other hand to make force on the wrench (and if that hand isn't enough just add the weight of your body or a tube to longer the application point of the force on the wrench) ;-)
