If they were automated why the spotlights? Couldn't they just use IR or thermal cameras? The cameras could see in all directions simultaneously, and while you might be able to hide your self from radar detection, or from visual detection, your not getting away from your thermal signature. This is also just thinking way too into the logic of a game that has a space elevator, fighter mounted railguns, intelligent drones that have the capacity to learn and improve themselves, and an autonomous flying drone carrier that has a wingspan over a kilometer, an energy shield, and gets resupplied by aircraft propelled by a linear aerospike rocket engine. This game is frankly absurd but that's part of what makes it fun.
@@notgryphon4597 Someone made a theory that the spotlights are there to check aircraft markings as the eruseans could have been using this canyon too there are some flaws but other than that it makes sense.

You can fly up to a little over 2000 briefly, but you're there too long or you hit 2100 you will fail immediately.
