I habitually fly full burner. So having experience from Ace Combat 04 onward for canyon runs and weaving through flak on full burn isn't too rough on me. I got the challenge even after letting off burner and did it at night in an f22. Didn't keep the movie altitude restrictions. Talking about the in game time challenge

I thought that Top Gun was inspired by Ace Combat, as this kind of mission is already there from early edition... as long as I remember, there's a canyon mission on Ace Combat 5 that you have to stay low in the canyon as there's a swarm of SAMs above ready to take you down

liberate Directus.
take down the last enemy stronghold in south belka along the yuktobanian soldiers who fought against you.
this base itself.

can't slow down. and i've tried it many times. but atleast you tried. i can't even get there within 2 minutes 15 seconds or whatever the time was in the movie. holy crap it's hard going low altitude flying atleast a high speed without slowing down. i crashed and burned every time. if you can keep trying and go full speed and don't slow down. lol. good luck. i can't do it. but i know you can.

Okay, first off, I've been trying to beat this level for 2 months now, and have not been able to. But apparently the trick is to fly the canyon at full speed. Second how do you switch from night time to daylight? And are you using a mouse and keyboard, controller stick, or a flight joystick?

It can’t be that hard to pass through it right? Just regulate speeds enough so you don’t smash into the rocks, abuse some high G movement (please don’t overdo it), and it should be a breeze. I did the mission multiple times with slow and A/B speeds with an F-22A, F-35C and F-15E Strike Eagle.
P.S. I play on my PS4 so I use a controller.

It's a PSM move - Post Stall Maneuver, you push throttle and brake at the same time at speed under 400kmh and pull the stick down
