Nightmarecore 2021, a collection of distressing media, is now available (FOR FREE) over on Patreon! Watch now… if you dare! www.patreon.com/posts/57414491
I just got to say bro I love this style of distressed VHS video !
And if you're really into the visuals and iconography of all of these videos , if you ever find yourself in Las Vegas I strongly suggest you going to a bar called " The Double Down Saloon " !!!
The owner , 'Moss', has got a bunch of CRT TVs hanging from the ceiling playing his own variety of essentially the same thing !
Just with more of a classic campy horror movie and punk rock twist to it 🖤 !
"Be kind, rewind!"...
I actually only saw that sticker on porn tapes. lol.
2021: Video Store Obscrurities
2061: Streaming Service Obscrurities
I miss video stores :( they were such a magical part of childhood like a jungle of pictures and colours all lined up on the shelf with music playing on rattly speakers.
Remember the smell 👃 of them?! Ha. And the big box 📦 candies 🍭 with a huge price tag?! Haha 😆.
Me too
God this channel needs more attention. I could watch this stuff all day. Oh wait that was me in the 90s.
Oh boy, that section behind the curtain!
Anything 90's almost make me wanna cry. Such a time to be alive used to go the video store with my mother. I remember how over priced Blockbuster seemed. So going there renting and getting snacks felt like a special occasion.
ah i miss blockbuster~ dad would let me pick out one movie or game and a candy after school
Arnold in “The Terminator” was the very first movie I rented at Block Buster to watch on my brand new $350 VHS player. A tradition continued for many many years.
The original is still the best.
in the 80's the video store was my second home
I still have a Blockbuster Video Card somewhere.
I dimly remember the first video store opening in my town, and I vividly remember the last one closing. A whole industry rose and fell within the span of about 30 years.
There was something charming about going out and getting a movie. Today's streaming media, sure it's convenient but it doesn't feel special.
I agree with the last sentence!
It sucks now a days lol. Waiting all week during school knowing I was gonna have a friend stay the night and we were hitting blockbuster for a few games or movies to play or watch over the weekend.......it doesn't get any better of a feeling.
The wall was the internet. Digital media and streaming services.
Omg really? I am from the late 90's/2k boom of the internet, and at no point did I hear anyone refer to webpages as "the wall". Guess it was just slang down in america.
While watching this the first time around it got me all nostalgic for my Orion TV/VCR combo that I used to make all sorts of smashed tapes of various movies and music videos back in the mid 90's !
At which point whale watching the video I started looking on eBay and lo and behold I found my old girl 😍 !
Think I'm going to buy her thanks to you , now time to watch your video again ❤🍻 !
The aesthetic on the cable video store intros was awesome.
I thought I was the only one who thought that!
My first vhs videos where dumb and dumber, Ace ventura, the Mask, the Lion King. I'd watch those over and over 🤣
Payment made upon returning. That's right up my alley.
Video archaeology!
This makes me want to shove an awkwardly-sized, laminated membership card in my wallet.
In the late 80s early 90s when I was a youngin' We had a Curtis Mathes store that would let you take out games and movies and pay for them when you returned them. It's madness to think about now. I remember renting a Super Nintendo there when I was about 11 with my Birthday money. Jurassic Park and Clayfighter sold the Snes for me. It costed $60.00 for the weekend. Bittersweet Nostalgia for gimmicky consumerism. What the hell happened?
Us too! I loved going to Curtis Mathes on Fridays to get to pick out a movie or 2. Wow, this is a stroll down memory lane.
Where at?
Wow I’ve been to Superstar video-about 20 years ago. The voiceover is the owner Henry. It closed in 2014.
I have Ghostbusters on VHS and among a bunch of vintage ads there's the exact same competition promo on it.
Ooooh yah...Blockbuster & CHILL!
*sigh* I really wish I could go back to this world...for a great number of reasons. And not all of them are for depressing reasons, either! Some shit was just nice to have around and I miss it now that it's not! Maybe I should try to bring back rental stores...I'd include everything, not just DVDs and VHS. And you better believe I won't forget the candy.
Please more 80's and 90's footage, if you have it! the 1970's would be much appreciated, as well. Your channel rocks!!! Thank you for sharing!
Dont laugh at me but when i drove through the city today i Just thought, damn, what if the Video Stores were still there. I could stop by and look for one or two movies for the Weekend.
I miss the smells of video rental stores, there was something entirely unique about them.
You're Absolutely right and the old electronics stores had a similar smell.
Yeah they had like a old cardboard popcorn sort of smell lol
That and the smell of a hotel room are my favorite smells!
"Five movies, five days for five dollars."
IYKYK.
Guy had the dope Black Sheep T Shirt.
I loved this one!
Fantastic bravo!!!
I don't miss the loss of video stores. It was fun at the time, but streaming is too convenient to go back.
They still have a video store on 4th.
Hey, you better adjust the tracking on this!
I bet Quentin Tarantino would love this one.
BrainDead/Dead-Alive? I Love That Movie!☠️🎃❤️📺🎶
Oh snap, that first video sounds like it's being narrated by 1990s David Spade
VHS is just a fad. That's why I stocked up on CEDs, the future of home entertainment.
LOL!
@no name Yo. When a joke is so smart, u gotta research the precise thing that shows u how you're supposed to laugh at it. Good job.
I miss the good ole days of going to the video store. I do not miss Bankbuster video and late fees. I’m glad they laughed at Netflix when offered to buy them for 5 million and Blockbuster video is corporate. Cronies laughed at them, literally refused. I think that would save a little over $1 billion last year kicking yourself in the ass much for that one someone is.
3:20 lol. She puts an “ S” on the words😁!
Then says, “ childrens” ! Lol. It’s already plural!
Where was Box Office Video?
I'm sorry did you say "Dead Alive Candy Dispenser"
