    I owned a 2007 Aygo with the MMT automated transmission. I bought it used and ended up droving it for 4 years. It's a genius little car. I do want another newer one!

      Yes, you kind of get the itch for them when you've had one, ha!

    Rockwool is fireproof and very sound absorbing. I've always tought of stuffing a car full of it and testing how it would sound :D

      Oooooh, interesting! Just done a quick Google of it. Might have to use it if the mass loaded vinyl fails, ha!

    It's very interesting what you are doing. I've done a bit of sound insulation in a campervan build, and learned a few things about it; basically, you have to focus in two ways of sound transmission, which are vibration and resonance. The analogy to a guitar would be, the strings vibrate and the box resounds. To eliminate vibration, use the rubber metal pads you are using, but you don't need to cover all surfaces, just about 30% is more than enough, especially the flat panels. For the resonace, use self sticking closed foam, 5mm would be enough. You can use thinner layers in tight places. For the wind noise, only double glazing and a better aero coefficient would help, but of course...

      Thank you for the tips. Yes, quite a few people have mentioned that you don't need to go overboard with the butyl mats. Definitely something to keep in mind if I ever do this kind of thing again. It's bloody hard work 😂

    Spraying underseal in the wheelarches does also dampen road noise noticably. Furthermore it is a good way of preventing rust.

      You want something with a bit of weight.. Underseal can do it but you need a lot of it.

    Hey Jamie , a while back I asked you if you knew the colour of your Aygo because I really like it. I have since bought an Aygo myself in the same colour and can now tell you that Toyota call it "Deep Blue Buzz" 👍

      Hey, Mike! Thanks for sharing that. So nice of you to get back to me. Nice colour, isn't it. You don't see too many of them around. Was it an X-Play you picked up?

    also maybe your camera adjusts the microphone level automatically. Or did you disable the gain?

      I used an app called Motiv Audio that comes with the Shure MV88 mic for the iPhone, so it's just in the app. Camera doesn't affect it. I'll be sure (pun was there for the taking) to remove it when I record again.

    Hi did the sound deadening make a different when driving

    • @jamieaygo
      @jamieaygo  Před 7 měsíci

      It does, but I haven't finished yet, so I can't give you any conclusive numbers. However, if you watch the videos I've done so far, you can see that the sound profile is definitely lower based on before and after comparisons. I think that's one of the things with sound proofing - you are best recording numbers so you can get quantitive proof that it is working because sometimes you can kid yourself into thinking it has worked when you aren't sure whether it has or not. I'd rather be sure from both perspectives. I am being quite methodical and adding bits here and there and testing to see if they actually work or not. A video will be up as soon as I've done!

      Yeah, I think it's been worth it so far. It's quite a bit of work though, but if you don't mind it, the reward is there.

    Overall was it worth it to do all this sound proofing? Do you really notice a big difference?

    • @jamieaygo
      @jamieaygo  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hey! Yes, you do. However, it is quite labour intensive. When I finish, I'll make a video on the whole process and evidence through the differences sound proofing my car has made.
