😮OMG!!! I LEARNED A LOT IN THIS ONE VIDEO THAN IN THE TENS OF OTHERS, ABOUT THE MUNCHKIN/SHORT LEG CATS!!! 😺 IT'S UHH-MAZING BUT ALSO QUITE SAD,😢 HOW DEFENSELESS AND VULNERABLE THEY ARE COMPARED TO THEIR REGULAR SIZE COUSINS!!! 😍💔 I NEVER KNEW!!!... KNOWLEDGE IS A GREAT THING!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!😺👍🏽🙋🏽🔥🙏🏽👑✝️📖🔥🕊️

No, but it can parkour
Huh. Today I learned that I am a Munchkin cat. Thank you.
The fact that half of the pictures aren't even munchkin cats..
Too late 🥹 we found ours outside thinking it was a kitten but it just chilled so we took it in and now she’s just our little potato that loves the love. She’s the calmest kitty ever! 🥰
@@Miss_Kitty_Meow How do you know what it was thinking?
@@dethkon I’m not sure I said I know what it was thinking but we have owls here that eat kittens so the safest place was inside. 🦉 since she was of a kitten size she would’ve been eaten.
@@Miss_Kitty_Meow “We found ours outside thinking it was a kitten”
@@dethkon thought that and it ended up being 12 weeks old. It was small which is why we thought that. Went to get shots and found out otherwise.
@@Miss_Kitty_Meow oh I thought you meant the cat was thinking it was a kitten when you found it
Supporting animal breeding for pets is evil. The shelters are overrun with unwanted animals because humans domesticated animals. Adopt or foster unwanted animals it is so much more rewarding saving these innocent creatures.
Number 1 reason:
It's animal cruelty.
The fact that people can't see this is a huge issue is problematic. They're not forever cute baby kittens. They are bred on purpose with a genetic mutation related to dwarfism that gives them shorter front legs and it is illegal in many countries. Most common issues with them are osteoarthritis, spinal and rib malformations, lordosis and scoliosis and many other. They also can't jump the way normal cats can for a twofold reason, both because of their deformities but also their deformities are so painful. Breeding animals for exaggerated physical characteristics, particularly when it compromises overall health, is irresponsible. People should place the long-term health and welfare of the animals above their need to watch something "look cute".
Yes good point
Yup
shut up Aunty
Omg thank you! I was actually looking for this information to come up in the video and it was more of a comercial for a product. So freaking sad
So dont love and adopt these cats because people make money? To leave them to doe is the real cruel thing here.
Naturally, Cats dont have shorter legs like the munchkins. It was a genetic mutation but then people started breeding them so that they can have more munchkins. Although they are cute and lovely, they require a lot of care and they wont be able defend themselves at all out there in a natural setting like other cats. Cats are not meant to be just indoors but partly outdoor as well cuz like us they also wanna feel the nature outside. Its sad why people would breed them. Love them and care for em, keep them indoors, have enough space for them, if u have them. All pets deserves to be loved. Dont breed cats with disabilities. Keep them natural.
Thanks for informing me, now I feel guilty for literally SQUEALING at the cuteness over load 😪
ADA Munchkins. I have6 in room 3 are munchkins/Spynx the shortest legs is meanest do not hold me down highest climber to top of window molding longest to ground leaper.
This was a natural occurrence as other cats such as Scottish Fold, Manx, American Wirehair, the Rex breeds and more. I don't see people complaining about Dachshunds as they tend to have spinal issues. Cats are much more flexible.
Our munchkin can and does rule the roost. He may be the smallest of our nine cats, but he isn't afraid of anyone nore do they attack him either. He doesn't know he's any different than any other cat.
You know why I hate "natural" cats? They're an invasive species, and a danger to local fauna. Talk about natural, yeah?
I have a munchkin. She doesn't want to be outside, she climbs rather than jumping to get on the furniture, she's not super clingy, plays constantly with her toys or whatever she finds, loves our dogs, watches our chickens out the door, and grooms herself fine. The only issue we've had is getting her totally litter box trained as sometimes she goes in corners. She doesn't like to be held except when sleeping on us in the recliner but does like to be petted. And she does hide when it's loud but peeks around the corner of the couch or wherever she is. So, I agree with some things in this video but not all of it.
Is your kitty fixed? Are there cats outside of your house that are bothering your baby? Are there multiple litter boxes (the rule of thumb is one per cat plus one?) Are you properly cleaning the urine (enzyme sprays are good and if a spray has a strong smell it's most likely covering the smell not eliminating it?) Are you scooping the litter box regularly? Are you using scented or unusual litter? My cats refused to use the kind made from corn cobs. Do you change the kind or brand of litter often? Is there something causing anxiety in your kitty? Has s\he had her health checked. My youngest had a UTI and peed outside the litter box because it hurt for her to go. Health is the first thing to check and is a common cause. Is the litterbox short enough for her? Is there something different about the corners she goes in? Is it all on one wall or room? Is it all near exterior doors or in high traffic areas? Is it the dog's favorite spot or her favorite spot that the dog won't stay out of?
Lots of things can cause issues with litter. Could you put a litter box in the corner\s she's been going in?
I heard they have lot of pain because of their short little legs 😔
@thechosenone9769 so the fix was taking the top off the litter box. I had one that has a door they go in and come out the top so the grates on the lid knock the majority of the litter that may be on their feet back in the box. She hates it. Once I just left it like the old school boxes, she hasn't had any issues.
She is spayed now. She does go out sometimes but only about 20 ft from the house and back. She'd still prefer to be inside majority of the time.
@keepitreal7723 mine probably wouldn't like it. She doesn't like new experiences, being around groups of people, etc. But I think that's more individual personality of a cat rather than breed.
Munchkin cats have strong personalities and need a lot of attention and care. Mine is a rescue cat.
Your video is informative, but targeted. There are 3 types of Munchkins: Standard; Super Short; Rug Hugger.
Standards are normal sized cats that carry the Munchkin gene. Super Shorts have legs that @ 1/2 the length of normal cats. Rug Huggers have very short legs @ look like hovercraft when they walk. I have a 5 year old Super Short. While she can't reach the kitchen counter she has no problem jumping on couches or reaching the window sill in one jump. I would never let her outside (because she only weighs 4 lbs)but she is far from fragile. She is also good enough at defending herself to where my 25 lbs Maine Coon has learned to leave her alone.
This video missed the most important point: ethical and healt concerns. Munchkin-ism is a deformity of the limbs. You can't breed two munchkins together or a large portion of the litter will die. They suffer from several health problems later in life and many organizations do not recognize it as a breed at all. In my oppinion, this sort of breeding should not be allowed. Munchkins, persians, exotics, etc are cats that are not fit for life 😢.
Munchkin is the perfect cat for me. I love mine. I don’t mind playing with her, grooming her daily, and since I work from home, she keeps me company! My hubby likes that she doesn’t jump up into high places.
she doesnt jump high because she physically cant
@@ishianti “I” “I” “I” “Me” “Me” “My.”
And how do you think the cat feels? Do you think that it dreams about running and jumping and grooming itself? Of all the places it wonders about but will never see? Of catching a mouse? Of freedom? And then it wakes up and sobs silently, afraid that if you hear it’s cries that you won’t take care of its needs anymore. Because as hard as it tries, it’ll never be a “real” cat, like the kind it watches through the window…
If it knew what you did to it, would it still love you? Or would it beg to see the rainbow bridge?
I'm a settled senior citizen that lives in an apartment alone and I don't go out much. All the qualifications listed fits me just fine. I've got to put my beloved Bichon dog down in about a week and plan to save up for a Munchkin cat once I find a reputable breeder which I believe I already have. I'm glad I ran across this video to make sure I have the right set of circumstances for this breed of cat. I feel guilty for looking for another pet so soon but I know I'm going to end up going in that direction. I have adult grandchildren that want to help choose for me but I think the munchkin cat is what *I* prefer.
Good luck with your next pet!
If you find a reputable breeder can you please post in the comments and let us know. Thanks! Want one myself
I wouldn't recommend supporting the perpetuation of this malformed cat. It's illegal to breed them in many countries due to animal cruelty. They suffer with issues including and not limited to osteoarthritis. Further, if you can't look after the cat properly, who will care for it?
I don’t know your age or health, but lots of cats end up in shelters when the owner passes away.
If you are elderly, it’s a good idea to find a family member or friend who is able to take in the cat and make a plan before you get one!
I am always an "adopt don't shop" person so while I whole heartedly disagree with buying from a breeder when there are so many cats that need a new mommy, I don't think you should be guilty for getting a new baby.
I hand raised a baby bird and had him for over a decade. He had a stroke and eventually died. I was devastated. It was a few months ago and the 2 cats I had with me are what kept me getting out of bed in the morning. My crying freaked them out at first but after a while my youngest started being worried for me. My oldest is still weirded out but last time I cried my youngest touched noses (it's how we give kisses in my house.)
Before getting a cat make sure you look up cat body language. They communicate in a very different way than dogs do and in a much more subtle way.
As a side note, I've seen regular kittens for as little as $5 in pet stores and free online. Kill and no-kill shelters are overwhelmed with cats and kittens constantly. You can save a life
Quiet house isn't just with the munchkin cat, it's with all cats. It's just how well they'll tolerate noise/chaos. Cats are very sensitive, if your house is naturally loud just get a dog
Or get a deaf cat like my 😂
@@JacobIX99 haha good one 😂
So no music? I heard they have lot of pain because of their short little legs 😔
Will the cats let you know if the volume is too loud?
@@xyz-mc5of I think music is a bit different in that different people have different preferences for it (I speculate based on my own observations that the same is true for animals, although obviously to a simpler degree and probably with much less diversity of preference; there seem to be some sounds/tonal combos and melodies that most animals will at least tolerate, and sometimes even enjoy. I'd speculate there's quite a bit of overlap between music that animals don't mind, and music that helps plants grow (really interesting topic to look into, might sound like BS if you're not familiar, but see it to believe it! Masaru Emoto also did similar experiments with water freezing and looking at crystal formation under a microscope).
Now, for context I must say that I have lived with dogs for my whole life, and while I have indeed lived with cats, it was not for nearly as long (my mom kept selling the cats we got within a year just like the pet birds she'd get). So I have a lot more experience with dogs personally, but I have gotten a better intuitive understanding of cats ever since I found my true self beneath all the corrupted garbage I was fed and told to be growing up. So maybe the answer will be a bit clearer for me in the near future as I spend more time around cats at my friend's house while also making music.
BEST TIP: Don't get one, the cartilage mutation means they have joint problems and pain at 5 years old. Trust me, I have one from a highly regarded breeder, couldn't have a better 'pedigree'. The poor boy is suffering.
Why did humans create a cat like this?

@@Jenn_80because we’re assholes
aw man now i cant get a munchkin cat bc my brother is loud as hell
And so is Anya at times 😆😆😆(referring to your username it's so cute!!)
How about the chief reason? It is a genetic defect and no amount of cultivation will do a damn thing about that. These cats, adorable as they may look, are bound to suffer from health issues left, right, front and center.
Number one is exactly why I think breeding these is a bad idea. I love cats, we have six right now, all rescues except one. They are very very adorable mo doubt, but just look at what we've done to dogs. The English bulldog is a great example. They're probably my favorite breed of dog. I love their temperament, but they have tons of health issues and we're the ones who created them. Breeding for certain characteristics can seriously impact an anaiml's quality of life and can make it nearly impossible for them to care for themselves should they be separated from their owners.
Every “negative” reason they might not be right for me are PERFECTLY suited to live in My domicile! 👍
Now to find out where to proceed for a kitten!
You shouldn’t get a cat deformed on propose to depend on humans. That is cruel :(
I have two sweet munchkin cat since 2 years and they are really cute and playful. They jump everywhere if i help them with passages or chair. They run every day at each other ( they are brothers). You are right for many informations ( calm house is better for all cats not only munchkin cat, be with their owner is great for every cat that like to be with us)
Although they can groom themselves pretty well especially if they have a short coat.
I really liked your video. You stay positive and never judge. Your pictures are cute ^^. Thank you for this but i love my cats and i m happy to be with them everyday ^^
Point #1 is so important, yet conflicting... it is so difficult for certain owners (like me) to enforce strict rules, when it comes to a kitty/cat's precious curiosity (with supervision, of course).
Thank you so much, for all 5 of your reasons... #3 was interesting too - I wonder how they would socialize, or provide companionship for a (slightly) larger cat.
These reasons gave me some great reasons to change my life to better meet my own (figurative) munchkin's needs 🙏😻
Well said!
It also depends on one's circumstances as far as property. My sister has two but she lives out in the country on a property with literally hundreds of acres and no dogs or other predators around so hers are just fine to explore outside.
I have a nonstandard Munchkin which means her legs are almost as long as a regular cat. I also have a fat Manx they get along great. Munchkin kitties are awesome & way more chill than a regular breed cat. Not a lot of mischief or naughty behaviors. But way more needy than the average cat. My first munchkin & first girl kitty I’ve owned but the best & most well behaved by far. They are sweet & talkative too. Amazing breed!!
My 17yr old munchkin still jumps onto counters and higher surfaces even though shes got achy legs now. Shes just stubborn. When she was younger she managed to get onto the roof of our house!
This would be the perfect animal for me if I had the time to spend with it. Maybe later I'll get one. Thank you for the good explanation. 👍🌷💯
Would be perfect for you but this cats are deformed on propose to depend on humans, such cruelty
ooh!! i learn much from this video, many things didnt think of
Thank you for watching! glad it was helpful
Don't forget the fun fact that if you breed two munchkin cats, one in four of the litter will be born DEAD.
Haha is that fun enough? 😐
My sister gave me her 2 year old female munchkin cat.
Why have your cat go outside anyway?
Wouldn’t they run away?
Edit:
“Need you to play with them”?
Isn’t that one of the reasons to have a pet?
For companionship and company?
I don’t know my cat is muchkin there are videos on my channel her name mochi. Is she a foldex or munckin or scottish fold. If anyone can know help me pls
1, 2 and 4 are also good reasons why thw munchkin cat should not exist. if a creature's genetic deformity is so severe that it would not survive in nature, is unable ro jump and can't even clean itself (two integral parts of being a cat), it should not be bred.
I can't believe you didn't mention the health problems or vet bills. Think of the Pinto. All the wrong sized parts crammed a tiny cat.
You need to have very good pet insurance to afford this kind of cat.
I love mine, always will, no regrets, but you need to know the financial responsibility this cat is.
Thanks for the honest heads up! How much is an average vet bill for this type of cat?
Munchkin cats are quite adorable, but they’re genetic mutation can cause pain and is almost torture for them, be careful and try not to encourage breeding of them
I have a munchkin and it’s a purfect little cat with a big personality.
What if you have a fenced in back yard with chain link fence couldn't the cat go outside then?
Hawks
Munchkin cat is definitly me!! It really is, I recognized myself in the 7 descriptions!! Munchkin cat is definitely me in cat!!
All cats need you to play with them, double for indoor cats, and triple for munchkin cats.
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
I wanna get a calico mucnkin when I'm older
There are some people who would just get a munchkin "just because its cute," without fully considering it is not a toy; it is a living being that needs love, care, attention, time, and investment. If they are not willing to give their cat their time do not get a cat.
They shouldn’t get a cat deformed on propose if they really respect nature and cats
Hear me out … I’m very used to dogs this would be my first cat.. it’s literally perfect .
l'll never understand why anyone wants their precious cat outside.
Idk So they can see the world?
@@abood47younes57 And die, get stolen, get hurt, get lost? Nobody does this to other animals except cats. I think it's irresponsible. Besides they damage other wild life like birds while not belonging to any food chain. It doesn't benefit anyone to have cats outside.
Also enough cats don't even get neutered and produce other cats that'll just be stray and meet the same fates or worse.

After I watched this video i started doing less and less munchkin cat but still not to a point of do notting a muchkin cat.
hah the fact u said not to let out munchkin cats outside but there is literally a picture of a munchkin cat outside...
Well it’s not like you can’t catch them tiny legs
I guess a munchkin cat and a dwarf cat are the same thing? Mine didn't come from a munchkin litter. He's a dwarf orange tabby that showed up in the litter. Though he doesn't have short legs, he can jump up on the couch and bed just fine. Other cats don't see him as a threat and does well when let outside. I've seen no problems with him grooming himself. 🐾
Still getting 2 of them!!
I know a munchkin who can jumps at least 4 1/2 feet and loves the window and tabletops.
Munchkin cats is another result of careless breeding. These cats are adorable, but thats only for us. A munchkin cat has the same natural instinct as a regular cat that it cant use because of its short legs. It cant jump high, it cant hunt, etc. Why make a cat with a man-made disability, thats messed up!
this showed me that i need a munchkin cat
Great, sign me up - but first - are they hypoallergenic? Cause I have asthma and the dander will kick it off...
As an introvert with adhd my munchkin was the best gift from the universe 💖

0:42 I take my cat outside, but with a leash at the laundry room
The only issue for me is the separation anxiety bit cause I have to go school 🥺
I have a munchkin and they are completely capable of playing and being active on their own. The other points seem to be true for the most part.
It is my dream to have a munchkin cat. It is not available in my country Oman, so we just watched it in CZcams.
Everything he just listed was exactly what I'm looking for. Does anyone else feel that way? Plus the scottish fold/munchin mix cats remind me of otters.🦦
I feel exactly the same!!!
I feel the same. A munchkin would be perfect for me if I weren't disabled. Couldn't chase after or look under furniture when the cat is hiding. They're just so adorable!
While Munchkin cats themselves can generally breed successfully, the risk of stillborn kittens or health issues can be higher due to the genetic factors involved. This is because the gene that causes the short legs (a form of dwarfism) can sometimes lead to complications in breeding, including skeletal abnormalities or problems during pregnancy and birth.
Came here after seeing videos of Kiki Mimi Coco 😄
This are always reasons forced me to pet it🤣
I plan to have a munchkin in the future I'm okay with all these
I'm going to buy a munchkin cat soon and now I'm going to know how to take good care of it
So it’s a dog…?
Wow...ig I get it now as to why people tell me that I'm like a cat
This like the Dachshund of the cats. Short legs and such lol
ammm these are all the reasons y I want a munchkin cat 😐
bro i can jus let the cat walk around my backyard its gated
For people who don't know why people don't take their cat outside: the reason why people don't take their cat outside because some cat breeds are only indoor and if you take you indoor cat outside then it runs away from you because cats used to live in the wild but some cat breeds don't like being taken away from the wild and those stray cats are also trying to find the wild
Best cat for introvert person like me :)
Why do they have all of these problems and defects? I don’t know about cats
Because of the specific gene their bread with that’s linked to dwarfism
Think of corgis or pitbulls that also have tiny bodies and limited movement/metabolism
@@jerm-gv9rv so they’re basically mutant freaks, is what you’re saying? Hmm… yeah, I can see that.
@@dethkon yeah basically…”disabled”
Is the first word I think of
Conditions like those can exist in people as well
Think about if a person is born with dwarfism but other people found the condition visually attractive or appealing
So We went out of the way to try and pass on that condition to future children
@@jerm-gv9rv That’s a great analogy, actually. It’s messed up. Pretty soon we’ll be breeding cats without claws, and then without legs at all- just immobile balls of flesh and fur who spend every moment of their wretched existence wishing to be put out of their misery. AW BUT IT SO CWUTE DOE BAWWW ^_____^
*GREAT video
My father let our clawless cats go outside and they're gone. I REALLY hope someone took them in.
😭
I knew some dumb sht like that would happen. THAT'S why you don't declaw! But no one listens to me in my fam.
1. All cats should be indoor cats. For a huge number of reasons.
agree!
1) Not an issue? Literally most people do not let their cats outside since outdoor cats live shorter lives on average so why is this a negative?
2) I don't want a cat to get up on the kitchen counter. And even then it can get on couches fine
3) This...this isn't even specific to munchkins. Every single cat needs you to play with it. Why is this treated as specifically a problem with munchkin cats?
4) Again, this is not specific to munchkins. You should be brushing ANY cat weekly to prevent hairballs. Hell even twice a week.
5) AGAIN, NOT SPECIFIC TO MUNCHKINS!! Every single cat has a different personality that is usually not specific to the breed. I have had several cats of the same breed and some were needy while others were more independent. Seriously this is the third time in a row you have made a point that isn't specific to munchkins
6) Jesus fucking christ, this is just another point that is not specific to munchkins. Literally no cat I have had enjoys loud noises, hence why they have always hid with the vacuum and yelling
7) Of fucking course it is another point you are arbitrarily applying to munchkin cats. Yeah it should go without saying cats in general have a tough time with new additions to the household. It is because they feel like someone is encroaching on their territory or when you rearrange furniture or change up a room it feels like a new environment and can be a bit frightening.
For anyone else reading this, I think this video did a great disservice on portraying munchkin cats because most of their problems weren't even specific to the munchkin and the only two specific "problems" aren't even that big of an issue because most cat owners keep their pets inside (which I reiterate is the best idea for them to live significantly longer) and most cat owners don't like their cats jumping up on the counter or dining room table. No wonder this video has this many dislikes
I don't know if this person is just clueless normie or someone who also works in the underworld GMO business.
YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO
edit: after thoroughly processing and understanding the true meaning of this video I understand why you make such a bold and controversial claim, not being able to learn self defense techniques is a large drawback for a cat, especially without large jumping it's lost potential. there is no purpose to have such a disappointing animal in your life. and even comprehending their full worthlessness, they don't respect your true perfection and authority and beg for your attention and support, truly disgusting.
It's just so cruel to breed them. Just like they breed pugs to have flat faces to the point where they can't breathe. Munchkin cats are intentionally bred to be fragile and disabled. They can't even groom themselves which is psychologically distressing for a cat. It's just so damn cruel. Cats are cute without humans doing this to them..
Why were there pictures of Scottish Folds? Can they be munchkins?
Yes, I have a Scottish Fold Munchkin who is a healthy 15 years old!
Every point is +ve for me😁😁
I cant but i know someone
So like a baby I can't handle a baby but I can make a exception bc they don't take my phone to watch cocomelon
Look at the bright side - they won't be killing any birds.
Also, they won't be jumping up on counter tops and pushing stuff off.
I want one soooooo bad!!!!
they are so cute
Good that they can’t jump that high cuz I don’t want them to shed on the sofa. Everything is good for me but the separation anxiety
Nooo, don't buy these. They are sick all their life. Search "munchkin cat health issues" and you will be bombarded with all the illnesses these have.
Yeah it’s very good this cat is bread with a disability making it helpless because it’s convenient for you have a pet…..
So 7 reasons to get this cat
indoor only always a challenge
And cruel beyond belief to cage a natural predator and hunter.
1:12 wrong my munchkin cat does that he uses his nails to get on the cat tree
I'dk how this cat can even survive period
As long as you’re prepared for the responsibility of responsible cat ownership, I recommend having a cat.
Not true. Only Guide Dog Trained Service animal perfors specific daily activity necessary for function for personal or medical care. Inc. on airplane seat
I wish people would stop breeding these poor cats. Seriously. Why make them suffer just because "they are cute?" It's a deformity, and I don't think they are any cuter than normal cats.
Exactly it’s basically just taking the infantilized way we already view animals
And then feeding into that by breeding disabilities that make the animals look closer to pups or kittens even into adulthood…
Which we understand the issues this causes when humans are born that way….
Very beautiful cats 🐈 😻
😅😊.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😅😊😊😊😊😢😮😅😊😮
So really it's a Munchausen Cat ??
They are very cute, they also dont suffer like pugs, but I still don't like the idea of breeding in disabilities into animals. You might like a less mobile less independent cat but I'm sure they would have loved to be able to do what a normal cat can do.
Just not a good idea... to keep this going. Its like taking everything that makes a cat a cat and taking it away.
Which cats have similar cuteness xD
