315 was know in its day for being the perfect sized / biggest tag trailer sized excavator same as the kamatsu pc150 same deal and in new england its super super common to see 315s on 2 axle tag trailers . My first boss used to move his cat 320b on a tag trailer ..... that was sketchy we did that early in the morning on weekends
Exactly %100 percent right !
And you need to add in the weight of the trailer
@@Jack-1212 that’s already accounted for . It has a load capacity of 42,000 pounds.
@DirtBrute these guys would loose their minds if they saw how we move the big pavers around !!!! Or a 2 axle tag with the drop axle= 25 ton tag
@@rirebel6029 I’ve moved moved some big ass pavers on a landoll with rollers and skidsteers all on the same trailer 😂
It's important to keep a few things in mind. The axle rating of the trailer isn't he only relevant thing when it comes to being over weight. 20T trailers can generally haul 20T on the deck, yes on the deck. The weight of the trailer itself isn't counted into the weight rating when it is built. So for example a 20T trailer has the ability to hold up to a 40,000lbs machine on the deck, this would normally be the weight of the average 160 class machine. However where the problem comes in and why people get pulled over and fined is that they don't take the federal bridge weight formula into account. If you take that into account then you realistically can not legally haul that 40,000lbs machine on a 20T trailer anymore. This is because the total combination weight on the axles can not exceed 34,000lbs. This is why many people hauling a 160 class machine use 3 axles because then they can haul up to 39,000lbs on the 3-axles. In the case of this particuar load in the video while his trailer can technically carry that weight, his limiting factor is going to be his number of axles between the truck and trailer combination for this total gross weight. If his axles were all scaled out I would be willing to be that either the tandems on the trailer or the rear axle of the truck is over weight for what the bridge formula will allow (note many other factors also come into play here such as length between axles and tire ratings, etc.). I do not like to typically promote other youtube videos on someone's page, I will say Avery Excavating on youtube did a good explanation on this and even got stopped and checked by the DOT in the video. I am still a fan of this channel, but I do believe this setup would be over weight if they were to scale out each axle in a DOT traffic stop.
Your right on all that but your forgetting one very important factor. I’m in Massachusetts. Different bridge laws . For example we can not haul loads on our dump trailers in Maine and I think New Hampshire. Rhode Island is OK. I haul salt out of Providence ship yard no problem. The guys here that go out of state up to Maine and New Hampshire have all upgraded to triaxle dump trailers. We can haul 103,000 pounds with overweight permit on a 28ft 2 axle trailer. We have totally different bridge laws then other states. I bought my peterbilt in California and they have very strict bridge laws . Thats why that truck has an aluminum frame . When I lived in Phoenix AZ they have the rear axles that come down hydraulically off the back and stick out far off their trucks . Same with our lowbed guys . They have to carry the extra jeeps when they go out of state. Like everything I own would be overloaded in North Carolina. That’s why you see a lot of (quads) down there . I’m pretty sure Avery is in Michigan and I don’t know what their bridge laws are but here in Massachusetts we run heavy. I’ve been pulled over and weighed plenty of times. This is a common set up here in MA . Thanks for watching
@@DirtBrute Good deal. As long as it works for you that's really all that matters.
@@fox13z400 hey thanks for watching ! Really appreciate it .
You are a pretty sharp guy, ya know that? You had me sold last video with the specs on the little *A L U M I N U M* dumper - I was surprised at that AND it ain't gonna ROT where we live! Your sons are fortunate to have you as their MENTOR (and their DAD!) Another good video we thank you for!
Thanks so watching sonny!
I get a kick out of people worried about trailers. You have 4 3/4 bolts holding the hitch to the truck. Lol
Yeah I’ve always laughed at that . How about all the the wheel studs being torqued down to 450fp then held on by one axle nut . 😂.
If you wanna get Steve mad tell him hes looking heavy 😂
The reason some people cover their exhausts on equipment getting towed is so mud and stuff doesn’t flick up from the tyres and gets stuck in the turbo or engine
Maybe on a garden tractor but that’s not why they cover the heavy equipment stacks . Most people believe the wind will spin the turbo dry. I do every see mud up that high . We’re talking 9’ in the air
that machine,
weighs between 37,000 to 39,000
like 17.000kg
he weight of the counterweight is 2925 kg (6450 lb).
The empty weight of the fuel tank is 70 kg (155 lb).
The weight of the boom is 998 kg (2200 lb).
The combined weight of the stick, bucket cylinder and bucket linkage group is 873 kg (1925 lb).
No I’ve been pulled over and weighed before . it is around 36,000. With this size boom stick bucket and thumb. Full of fuel
How many hours on the 315CL now?
Has that young man James been busy this past construction season? About time for another video conversation with James and You.
11k hrs now . James is doing good. Working with him tomorrow. I’ll ask him
For me anything over 10 to 12 tons is all I want on a tag along trailer, heavier than that I want a 25 ton single drop trailer or a 35 ton RGN trailer. I have seen a 3 axle 25 ton tag along but I don't want to pull it with a dump truck.
I don’t want the big 3 axles trailer yet because where I live is all tight spots . I use my buddy’s 30 to. Sometimes and it’s hard to find a place to park it being that it’s so long
I never understand why they have such stretched semis in the US and the dump trucks are really short often with single axles😂 pretty much the opp here in Australia. Our dump trucks are universally longer usually tandem axles. You don't see these short little Kenworths (only tandem semi kenworths meduim wheelbase not super long). It's usually cab over Isuzus for single axles but they are longer with longer dump beds.
To be honest a lot of these really stretched out semis over here are guys that think it looks cool 😂
The other issue, Steve is people do not include the weight of the trailer itself into its load capacity. Some idiot says oh the trailer GVWR is 42k so I can haul a 42k machine on it. No dumb dumb that’s the load entirely with the trailer weight included. 🤦🏼♂️
Yes this Rogers trailer is nice because on the front it has a stamped plate with the load capacity. Then the axle weight ratings . So as long as they can read the info is there . Thanks for watching
All kind of "experts" out there....🤣. Nevermind the trailer appears to have 4 frame rails and is riding on dual tandems, pretty sure it is a heavy build trailer. And the side of the trailer says TAG 21, which would usually indicate the TON rating, not thousands of pounds (so something along the lines of 42,000 lbs total, then minus the actual weight of the trailer itself to know what the payload capacity is). None of this is news to DBS, he clearly understands what he has, maybe this will help others that read it though.
I do have a question that is just for curiosity, how much gravel or dirt could you carry in the truck when you are towing the 315? Again, just curious.
And the 317 should weigh around 4,200 lbs more than the 315, not including the extra weights from any bucket, thumb or coupler, so you are absolutely right that with all those, it likely weighs 6k lbs+ more than your 315 as you were towing it. So do the Martians use toilet paper or did they bring some better method of wiping their ....... like the 3 sea shells or something?🤣
Have a good one!!👍
Haha I haven’t heard the 3 sea shells in a long time 😂. I try not to move the machine with a load on . A lot of guys around here have said they have been pulled of and the DOT does not want dirt in the truck with a machine on the trailer. So I just try to avoid that situation all together
You should never max out your weight like that when your hauling equipment…not worth wreaking a 100,000 dollars of gear for a few tons.
@@njonebale7889 my trailer is not maxed out.
@@DirtBrute Makes sense, your reasoning, not the DOT's😂
👍
@@DirtBrute no, mean, not a good idea to haul the equipment and throw a couple tons in the dump at the same time…at least I don’t.
You know they are full of it when the comment starts with or includes any of these, my wife's husband brother's cousin's dad knows a guy that has a friend who's uncle's girlfriend's grandpa said you don't know what your talking about 😂😂😂
😂😂
For some reason the video you put out in Christmas Day has been marked as private not sure if it was done on purpose
Yeah long story but one of the guys in the video was mad we had him on camera. We tried to blur out his face but when we posted it for the second time it did something to the frame and the blur didn’t cover his face . So I won’t be making anymore videos around him now . It too much of a pain in the ass . Thanks for watching!
Understand that. Too bad he had to be an ass. Well Merry Christmas to you and the family. Thanks for all the videos you put out. May you have a great and healthy New Yr
@@Michael-fd8ob same to you . Merry Christmas. Happy holidays.
Thank you
I think your forgetting to subtract the weight of the trailer .
How far can machine hang off the back?
I’m not sure because I’ve never been stopped for it. it hangs off 3ft Mabe 🤷♂️.
What do u have dump truck tagged at?
They only give you 33k. On a 6 Wheeler. However they will let you register it for whatever you want but won’t give you a overweight permit on a 6 wheeler. This state makes no sense
What's the load rating on them tires? 8x???? is what? How much weight you got on the tongue?
I don’t know man I’d have to weigh the tongue weight somehow.
I thought you were in MA, but the trailer is registered in ME??
Lol if u know you know
Most semi trailer around the country are registered in Maine for cheaper fees . However they just change it to apportioned plates must be on the tractor . So I’ll be re-registering it soon
@@In2investing And I didn't!! ..now I do.
@@DirtBrute Ah, that makes sense why I see so many registered in ME here in MA and NH.
@@wxfield yeah it’s a significant difference in price
Ibet your gonna paint it blue.
opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. thats the nicest thing i can say lol..what i really want to say would not be youtube friendly...thumbs up !!
😂. Thanks for watching!
