V-Mic D4 DUO User Guide | Using Your New Vlog Mic

  • Andrew runs through all the features and ways to use your new V-Mic D4 DUO! We are so excited to finally release the DUO and change the way that you create digital content, vlog, and record audio. The DUO's dual capsule design lets you capture audio from in front of and behind your camera as you wish, which makes vlog audio and interview audio super easy.
The main feature is the toggle switch on top. That changes the mic from a normal on-camera shotgun mic to a dual capsule device that will record your voice from behind the camera in perfect clarity. Not only does that make the DUO the best vlogging mic, but it also makes it the perfect interview mic. You can even plug a lav into it when you need true proximity.
The D4 DUO doesn't need any batteries, it just runs off of your camera's power so you never have to worry about it dying on set. We even show you how to edit audio recorded with the D4 DUO in two different ways.

I film vlogs inside theme parks where it can be very noisy and I'll need to speak up, and it doesn't seem like it does very well with that as almost all my audio is peaked. It's kinda a shame coming from the RODE VideoMicro which handled that a lot better...hopefully I'm just doing something wrong or need to change a setting on my camera but I would love some suggestions. At some moment, the subject voice kinda lost in the ambiance. The back mic works well, but Im just like 12 inch away. My Rode too seems to be better in isolating the loud ambiance sound and my subject. It works well in a less noisy environment though!

I know that "TRS to TRRS" adapters exists, but I am told that these won't work, since smartphones only use a mono microphone signal. What is necessary is some kind of "audio interface" built into an adapter, that samples the analog stereo signal and transfers it to the smartphone through USB/lightning. Kan anyone think of such a solution ?
