The River (meaning):
This song is an old Russian ritual song about an orphan bride. The girl has no parents. The river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She goes to the river and asks for the blessing of marriage. She says that there are many people at home, but there is no father and mother. You hear Diana singing in a whisper which are the words of the deceased mother of the bride. Then the girl is crying. In Russia, people sang sad songs at the weddings to scare away evil, and help marriage of a young couple to be happy. Such songs were called “weeping.” The figures behind Diana are spirits of water and forest.

One translation & comment I read was that the "baby" referred to is her baby brother, whom she must leave to take up her married life, and that getting married is not likely her choice.

In different regions of Russia, these songs were sung in their own way, and the meaning of these songs was slightly different. The song "Rechenka" in this form and in modern processing was performed by Alla Pugacheva in 1974.
@@gregwormald8400 You have been misled. Here are these two lines from the song: "You are a baby, but my baby, you are sitting, but you will not smile." The whole phrase is said by the dead mother to the girl-bride. She is the one who addresses her daughter like a child. But only the last words "you will not smile" were pronounced in an eerie voice.

When I suggested that my native language Spanish speaking musicians listen they were in shock and disbelief because her pronunciation was perfect and her emotionally impactful interpretation brought them almost to tears) And when you’re convinced that she’s one of the best female vocalists ( like many other’s including myself) you may want to react to a couple of her newer songs: like “by your voice” “ , “ maybe you maybe me” and a masterpiece titled “Tomorrow is a lie” ( 4.26 one posted by HTB and accompanied by famed composer Igor at the piano).

Diana - " Queen Of Goosebumps"
The show is called You Are Super and involves being judged by four judges each round. To progress at least three judges have to press their buttons. In the first year that Diana appeared she performed Derniere Danse, It's A Man's World, Rechenka and Tomorrow Is A Lie in the final. For the final round the judges don't press their buttons as it's opened up to the viewers to vote on-line for the winner. Of course Diana won it. The following year they held a Grand Prix and invited back previous winners. Diana performed Blizzard, Wicked Game and in the final Human. There were only three rounds that year. And of course Diana won it again. Oh, and she got all four buzzers in every round of both competitions and got overwhelmingly voted as the winner by the viewers each year.

It is a traditional wedding song. The persona is a young orphan girl that goes to the river to invite the spirits of her deceased parents to invite them to her wedding. The creepy thing is the dead mother answering. Then she addresses her other guests who have come to the feast. Maybe you know that Diana is an orphan as well. Her adoptive mother was in the video. Gives it something extra. Kudos for the set designers. I understand Diana also brought ideas on how to stage it.

Thanks for your time and opinions for Diana. If Mother Nature had a voice Diana's vocals are it. After one of her performances one of the shows voice coaches,not the judges, said to Diana, "Art poisons you." Now isn't that a profound comment. I can't imagine what a concert hall would sound like filled to the top with her voice. Maybe someday I'll have an opportunity to do so. That will be a good day indeed.
Diana has now been accepted into GITIS Arts School! GITIS is the largest and oldest independent theatrical arts school in Russia. Congratulations Diana, you MORE than deserve this! I just hope she can teach them something! :) :)

Her voice is so full, rich, multi-deminsional in a sense. After listening a lot other voices seem flat and monochromatic. Igor Kutoya has helped her and im sure will mentor her for all the best as she grows into her life and career. She is a vocal treasure. Contraltos are unheard of across the board.

As you noticed, Diana yodels and even sang "Yodel Time" at Voice Kids Russia. The judges didn't turn and put themselves into the ridiculous situation to invent explanations for their unexplainable decision.
Told you this performance (because it is not only singing but living the song and portraying the character in a theatrical and dramatic way) was her very best and it will be remembered for decades. It is a stunning example of her incredible talent. Diana is also an unbelievably funny teenager as can be seen on her CZcams and TikTok accounts. She is now 17 and attending GITIS which is the largest and oldest Russian School of the Performing Arts and living in Moscow thanks to Victor Krutoy. I would not be surprised if she becomes an actress later on because she is so passionate and expressive ! Kudos to Irina Povnik who adopted her when she was 5 years old. Her childhood life story is also very tragic and movie material in itself because this adorable girl had to overcome tremendous odds to be where she is now. Knowing more about her only deepens the respect one feels when witnessing her performances. I believe she will become a legend !
