Can’t wait to follow your adventure and wish I was going!! 🙂
I don’t know you but completely relate to your enthusiasm. I wish you the best journey ever! I have loosely planned my PCT hike for the last 5 years. I haven’t had an opportunity to define a time so I am starting to think my journey is meant to be in chunks and not a hike thru but that’s ok. I am following your journey and am looking forward to learning from you.
Nice job on this well organized, comprehensive video! Looking forward to your next one. Meantime, good luck with final preparations!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. Can’t wait to share the PCT with you guys. 😊
I'm in. Good luck. So happy you get to do this.
Thanks so much 🙏
Oh my gosh!! I’m so happy for you!! And I’m so happy I found out about your adventure. As a nurse and a newbie to hiking, I look forward to following your adventure!
Best to you!!
A fellow nurse and hiker, cool! 😊 Glad to have you along. Thanks so much. Happy trails to you!
Best of luck out there to you! It's coming up fast! My start date is mid April. So much to do in 8 short weeks but it will all be worth it to have no worries about home while out there. We got this girl!! One day, and one stretch at a time!
Good luck, and happy trials to you as well! I can’t wait to see what wonderful and crazy experiences we will have this year on the trail. 💙😊
Hi Condor....saw you here so I thought id say hello there !!!
I’m so excited for you. Well done on your video too. I’m looking forward to many more of you sharing your journey. 🏕🥾
Thanks very much! Glad to have you along for the journey 😊
Another RN here, retired for 10 years, but still think of myself as one! Start date Mar 24. My first time was in 2008 but flamed out 1000 miles in. IMO, you have a good, realistic plan. Best Wishes. GK
Very cool! Once a nurse, always a nurse I’d think! ...Thanks for the feedback, good to hear from someone who’s done a lot of the trail. Best of luck to you, and maybe I’ll see you out there 😊
This is wonderful Marcy! I plan to follow along. I am planning my PCT trip for summer 2022. Will be great to learn from your experiences. You will do great ! Onward!
Thanks so much! Glad to have you along. 😊 Wishing you all the best for 2022 as well. Happy trails!
Awesome! You covered everything well. Hubby and I start on April 3rd. I look forward to you showing me how the trail is before we go. We’ll be starting out slow so I doubt we’ll catch up with you. Safe journey!!
Very cool! I expect to be starting slow too, so may still see you guys 😊 Thinking maybe I’ll take my first zero and post my first video from Mt. Laguna. Safe and happy trails to you both as well. I hope and believe that we’ll have an amazing season!
Good luck! I’ll be following. Happy Hiking 🥾- Julia from the UK 🇬🇧

I can’t wait to see your progress. Maybe when you get to Northern California The Hernandez Hikers can meet you and be a Trail Angel for you! Burney Falls is the area we at!
Thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing your posts as you press forward.
Thank you for following along!
You've done an excellent job with planning. 👍. And thanks for the info on your choice of editing software. Have not heard of that company, so will have to check it out. And a special Thank You for being willing to take on the extra challenge of filming and posting to CZcams. I'm sure all your family and friends will enjoy seeing the experiences you will have, but there are those of us who can not get on the trail that are equally appreciative of you letting us follow along on this amazing adventure. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.
Thank you so much 🙏 It’s such an incredible opportunity to be able to go out and do this, and I’m very grateful for it. I love being able to share it with others as well. All the kind and positive comments, such as yours, really encourage me, and I’ve enjoyed connecting with people through the channel....Thanks for following along on the journey! 💙
I had no idea you had to get a permit to hike thru. So I learned something! It’s nice you are following your dreams. I’m very inspired. Can’t wait to live vicariously ❤️.
There are State and Federal lands along the way. The permit saves you from applying for each separately.
Very nice video! You answered questions and gave your insight. So, I subscribed and will be following your journey from my home in south central Utah.
Very cool! Thanks for subscribing! Glad to have you along for the journey 😊
Looking forward to watching your journey good luck.
I look forward to following you on the trail. I wear Injinji socks to help with blisters .
I started wearing them four years ago and haven’t had a blister since.
I start mid April. Maybe our paths will cross. Good Luck!! "3 Socks"
Awesome! Good luck and happy trails to you as well...If I meet you, you’ll have to tell me how you got the name “3 socks” 😊
Since I'm not yet able to hike the PCT myself (work!) I choose a few thru-hikers to follow each year...you'll be one of them! Look forward to tagging along on your adventure and wishing you a safe and amazing thru-hike! :)
Thank you so much! 🙏 And I hope you get to do it someday too!
Best of luck on your journey!
Thanks so much!
Good luck on your adventure!
Thanks so much!
Have just subscribed. 👍. Can't wait to follow your adventure. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Have fun out there! I'm so excited for you. (And envious 😉 )
Thanks so much! Glad to have you along for the journey! 😊
Great job on the video Marcy....looks like youve got all the ducks where they belong...lol...its obvious youre very intelligent....and you have skills most of us just wish we had...Im an ole man that has always loved the "high lonesome"....this is a great video explaining allot about your hike....remember its your hike....please limit your reference to your weight....you are probably more aware or concerned about it than others you will meet....believe me you are loved for just being you....other hikers will just be glad to see you on trail....stay safe and most important have fun...!!!
My blister prevention is compression socks next to skin then hiking socks over those. Compression socks act like a “second skin” to reduce friction on skin. Good luck!🍀
Thanks for sharing that! I think I’ve settled on the same concept. Wearing liner socks (Injinji) under my darn toughs. Has worked well so far. 👍
awesome videos!
Happy to have found you. Enjoy your journey. I fo trail Angeling in central oregon and near mount hood when I can on the weekends.
Thank you! Glad to have you along for the journey. Maybe I’ll get to see you in Oregon!
Can’t wait to follow along
Glad to have you along!
Saw your post in Dixie's forum and was hoping to find a woman doing the PCT. I'm from SW Florida, so I'll be cheering you along as a fellow flat-lander. LOL Subscribed.
Oh, awesome! LOL. Glad to have you following along! ... I love Florida, but really excited to experience the PCT 💙
Love this can't wait but I'm sure going miss you. Precious ❤
I’ll miss you too nanny 💙
Hi Marcy! Have you watched Mike Lawrence’s detailed tutorial videos about backpacking the first 100 miles (Section A) of the PCT? So far, he has posted 3 of the 5 videos in the series. They're a super valuable source of information especially for the first time PCT hiker! His channel is “Marmalade Outdoors”.
Hi! No, I haven’t, but I’m definitely putting it on my list. I feel like a detailed look at the first 100 miles would be very helpful, and also just sort of put my mind at ease. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi! Mike also has a video on getting from the San Diego airport to Campo! Very detailed with bus numbers times, costs, transfers, etc. Might be of some help .
@@iamgold2208 Oh that's right! I'm so glad you mentioned it! Yes - this video covers very helpful logistics!!
You might try a lightweight hammock. I’ve used this on the PCT in the past. Comfy sleep, but hard to stay warmer. Lots of water in March. Most local places have everything you need, so not much need to result except for shoes and specialty items. It does get cold even in the desert on trail, so make sure you have a warm quilt!!! Hope to see you on the trail.
Thank you! I would love to try a hammock, but I was worried about not being able to find good trees sometimes on the PCT. Will definitely give it a shot someday though. 👍 I like hearing that water is more abundant earlier in the season. Looking forward to seeing you out there!
@@MilesToGo1 There are trees on the PCT, but you do have to search in the desert in some spots. As far as water goes, it is more abundant in years where we have more snowpack. Right now we’re at 40 percent, so low water year for April, but easier Sierra crossing. Download the PCT Water Reports and also check out Guthooks as they have a water section as well. San Jacinto Snow Report is a great resource as well. If you camel up at water sources and don’t hike desert midday, you won’t need to carry as much water as you think.
I’m very proud of you honey but I will miss you very much. I will definitely be following you and your awesome journey.
Thanks mama! I appreciate you being so supportive! 💙
2019 Campo- Tuolumne Meadows... Id love to give you a pep talk before you start, what to look out for. Be prepared for lonely times. You will make friends but they may pull ahead. Zero days cost more money but you will need rest. Balance. You absolutely will lose weight. When you come home is the danger. You have to maintain it or it comes back. Its a wonderful time. You will have so many great memories from this adventure. Good luck to you!!
Thank you so much. I appreciate the support, truly. 🙏
I’m a trail angel at South Lake Tahoe. We house, feed, offer showers and laundry plus pick you up at Echo Summit on hiway 50. Hopefully we can meet up.
Wow, that’s awesome! Thanks so much! Hope to meet you
I have the same issue with sleeping in a tent. I have never been more than 5 nights out but hopefully eventually that would work itself out on a longer trip. But for being comfortable while being awake at night I find the nemo tensor wide comfortable and I don’t feel like I’m going to fall off.
Guess it’s good to know I’m not the only one 🙂 Though I’m sorry you also struggle with that. I’ve heard good things about the Nemo Tensor. Thank you for the suggestion! Happy trails! 🥾 🏕
I am in the same boat as far as sleeping. I don't sleep well on the ground. I love sleeping in my hammock, but it is not a good option for the PCT. I just got off a section hike of the PCT and used a Thermarest Neo Air in my ZPacks duplex.
See you out there!
Try blue Birkenstock insoles. The padding is perfectly placed for where you get blisters. Looking forward to your journey!
I’m seriously going to look into this. Thank you! And glad to have you following along 😊
I'll be watching. I would suggest Altra Lone Peak high tops. They worked best for me for the extra ankle support and my heel kept slipping out of the regular Lone Peaks.
Thanks for following along and for the suggestion! I haven’t had trouble with my feet slipping out, but have wondered if I’ll wish I had more ankle support...
I start in mid April as well. Hopefully I will be seeing seeing you on the trail toward the northern terminus. "Haole Hiker"
Awesome! Happy and safe trails to you. Hope to see you out there 😊
Hopefully i can do the PCT in 2022.....I'm in the Fort Lauderdale area, so rooting for a fellow Floridian!
Thank you! And that’s awesome! I hope you get to do it in 2022 😊
This is amazing and terrifying! I look forward to updates! I'll be praying for you too. Give me a shout if you need anything shipped to you and your family is unavailable. - LeLand
Thank you so much! I appreciate that 🙏 ...And so glad you included your name there, I wouldn’t have been able to guess from “genocidal snail” 😁
Have you tried injini toe socks? They’re great for really mitigating blisters.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’m actually waiting for some of their liners to come in the mail. I’ve heard from so many that they really help, so I’m hopeful they will!
Do you need to carry a bear canister?
Not until the Sierras. Currently planning to rent one at Kennedy Meadows 😊
Maybe we'll pass each other along the way. I'm going sobo in june
