This week's upload is the opening song of the first season of Haikyuu!! I still remember the high intensity Volleyball matches in Haikyuu!!, where the situation can change very quickly in every minute and I was really looking forward to a new episode every week.
When arranging this song, I noticed the full version of "Imagination" is only 3 minutes long. It is probably one of the shortest opening songs in my recent memory. But nonetheless, this song still packs a lot of power and it serves as a perfect opening song for such a high-tension Sports Anime like Haikyuu!!.
The arrangement is following the same structure as the original song and I spent a lot of time to translate the guitar solo part in the bridge 02:04 into the piano. After many trial and error, I created a piano version with a similar rhythmic energy, but also included a fast octave passage at 02:17. I also slightly extended the ending part at 02:47, by adding a small transition at the end of the song and repeated the beginning melody again with a slight variation to bring the song in a satisfying harmonic conclusion.
In a way this arrangement is a textbook example of my typical arrangement style: utilizing different voices for each repeating section, keeping a steady rhythmic energy in the left hand, and structure the whole arrangement with a proper beginning and a proper end.
Well then, that's it for this week's upload! Next week, I am going to upload one of the so called "special type" piano arrangement, featuring a unique musical structure and some extended parts. I hope I can see you next week again!

now that the manga is one chapter to its end, listening to this made my mind reminisce all that happened in haikyuu, from hinata's first match to the latest chap. haikyuu really brought life to my anime journey and it'll always make me smile.

I finished watching haikyuu recently. Decided to watch it during quarantine because i had nothing better to do and goddamn i did not expect it to be this good but half way through season 1 i was hooked and rooting for karasuno with all my spirit. Within a week it had become one of my favourite anime of all time - definitely my top 5. PLEASE watch it if you havent already. Its so inspirational and every episode gets you so hyped. I felt so depressed and demotivated durinh quarantine and haikyuu really helped to lift my spirits. I promise you that you will love it with all your heart, even if you dont like sports anime or volleyball, because you don't have to be interested in sports to enjoy this anime. Thats how much of a masterpiece haikyuu is.

I actually just started collecting the manga last week. I own the first four. And omg Daichi the first time Hinata hit the ball with his eyes closed. That was my reaction to telling my friends about the anime(Haikyuu) I had just stumbled upon.

This is one of those songs that simply has an absolutely inspirational vibe from the get go. From the first note, it felt like a continuous high-energy volleyball rally as we progressed through this shorter, but just as sweet piece.
Perhaps the part that felt most like a rally to me was the calling and responses of voices at 2:13. 0:26 also invoked a similar, albeit briefer, feeling.
There's something about the RH resonating at 1:10 that invokes a feeling of being able to do anything. That short section is my favorite part of this arrangement. Honorable mention would be the triumphant charge into the bridge at 2:04

I also want to mention that next week's upload will fall on July 18, the anniversary of the KyoAni attack that took the lives of 36 animators last year. I was wondering if you could arrange "Sincerely" from Violet Evergarden to mark the occasion. I know you mentioned in your "Michishirube" arrangement that "Sincerely" was high on your to-do list, and the timing next week would be perfect for this arrangement.
Also, unrelated - but I hope you can cover the OP "Crying for Rain" (Kawaki wo Ameku) one day! The anime it got assigned to isn't the best, but the song is a masterpiece (definitely one of the best OP's of 2019, and the music video is almost at 1 million likes!). Theishter/Fonzi/Ru and other anime pianists have done fantastic arrangements, but I really want to hear yours since the song gives off serious "unravel" vibes, and I know that is your area of expertise (´・ω・`)
Just wanted to comment that that's a great idea. Ever since the KyoAni attack, I've been catching up on series that I never watched from them, and they really did make some of the best anime(not to mention, some of the most gorgeous anime). It's really disturbing and sad to think that most of the people who made these animations that have brought so much joy to so many people, are dead now...

Thank you sooo much Animenz! I've always wanted to hear a Haikyuu!! opening or ending arranged in your style and lemme tell you (you probably know it) it's FABULOUS. Haikyuu was my first sports anime and it will always remain in my heart. All of haikyuu's ops and eds have a special ability to make me feel motivated and hearing it on my favourite instrument arranged by one of my favourite youtuber pianists is frankly amazing. I remember listening to you for the first time (it was unravel, btw) and I thought, "One day, maybe one day, I'll own a grand piano like him (you) and I'll be able to play like him (you)!!" It's been about 2 years since that day, but I'll always remember what I felt when I listened to your covers and maybe one day, I'll make this wish come true. 내 중학교 고등학교를 함께했는데 하이큐가 벌써 완결에 가까워졌네... 하이큐 보고 배구 하고 싶어서 중학교 때 히나타처럼 혼자 아침에 가서 배구 연습 했는데ㅋㅋ 노래 들으니까 추억처럼 잔잔하게 생각나고 좋네요. 그때는 열정도 자신도 꿈도 모두 있었는데 지금은 살기에 너무 허덕거리고 바빠요. 앞만 보고 가는데 멀리를 못봐요. 뒤도 못 돌아보고 있어요. ... ...노래를 들으니까 그때가 아련하게 생각나고 슬프고 좋고 복합적인 감정이 드네요 좋은 피아노 연주 감사합니다.

Haikyuu is definitely one of the BESTEST anime that I have ever watched. I had watched it for almost 3,4 times but still couldn't get enough of it.

When the show and manga end, it’s horribly sad knowing it’s over, and no more is coming. (For the manga.) I totally recommend to anybody, even if you don’t like Volleyball you’ll fall in love with this show, the characters and so much. There is a lot to like about this. Best sports anime. ❤️
