    Bamboo is an eco-friendly fast-growing tree species from the grass family highly utilized throughout human history for its industrial versatility as a fiber and building resource. Most people are familiar with young boiled or fermented shoots, but from a nutritional standpoint, it is also becoming more well-known for use as a nutritive tea and supplement extract. This is because it is believed to be one of the highest plant-based sources of the mineral known as silica.
    Here is this video, we'll discuss the benefits of silica supplementation and the best variety to use to optimize nutrient uptake. Also, learn more about the traditional uses and preparations, like bamboo shavings (Zhu Ru) and tabashir, as an herbal substance and their health-enhancing influence.

    Most bioavailable silica is in green peas, according to research. But holistic nutritionists say, that the best source of silica is in the oats, which are still in their outer, flexible shell (encasing the grain itself). What I do is take those oats, soak overnight and in the morning I make a plant milk out of them. Then I take the shredded pieces, which remain, and boil them in water for half an hour. I add the strained liquid to fruit smoothies.

    • @Apollo440
      @Apollo440 Před 6 lety

      I can't say if they are. But I mean those whole oat grains, which are tightly encapsuled in a leaf like thingie... You don't get them anywhere, I believe. And I would gladly read your material, confirming that "oats are hybrid".

      I heard cucumber skins are best food source and mineral waters from volcanic areas are supposed to be good too... but, I will certainly increase green pea consumption... the oats thing sounds like too much work for us though ... my son is in the navy and gets flu shots every year, I can't even imagine what the aluminum is doing to him... and I want to increase his silica intake any way I can... silica is a metal chelator, apparently and vaccines are chock full of aluminum and the flu shots have mercury as well... I think the silica helps chelate mercury as well... if you or anyone reading this, silica can be an antidote to a vaccine injury... I have heard of people who were seriously injured by vaccine and lost speech, ability to walk etc... and the drs told them it was permanent, and they tried a healing approach involving silica... particularly silica rich mineral waters and they recovered and went on to lead normal lives... whether it is true or not... if you think you've been injured by a vaccine, it certainly cannot hurt to try the silica remedy.

      Taking more is not better as silica is poorly absorbed. Large amounts will simply pass through the digestive system and be excreted. For silica supplementation in general , I prefer diatomaceous earth added to water. I let the DE settle and the pour the water off the top to drink. Then add more water to dissolve more of the silica. DE is 80% silica. I add it to water first to let it react forming orthosilicic acid (OA) as this is the form absorbed and utilized by the body. Silica is poorly absorbed because this conversion is low to begin with. Therefore, taking a larger amount of silica just means most will go to waste as it passes through the system. Taking the silica my way as OA means absorption of small amounts of OA every time I take a drink of water throughout the day, which means more overall OA actually getting in the bloodstream by the end of the day as opposed to taking silica supplements, most of which will simply pass through the system, several times a day.
      I have a lot of information on silica and ingesting DE for silica on Facebook under Science Based Natural Healing.

    • @Apollo440
      @Apollo440 Před 6 lety +1

      I know what you mean, and I too would hope that DE is a good source of silica. But I believe it isn't the silica our body can readily absorb.
      I also think, that, in order to be organic, the silica should be in a living cell, thus containing bioactive material, bonded with the silica.
      How else would the science research be explained, which proved that absorption of silica is greatest from green peas, rather than from horsetail?
      Therefore, I believe the biology should be in place, enabling our body to absorb the amounts of silica, offered by the source.
      And I think, that DE is just dead organisms which have silica as a component. Is it from a once living source? Yes. Is it bioavailable? I don’t think so.

      I sort of remember people debating this on a DE forum, but few agreed on anything. I really don't use DE on any regular basis, I take a bamboo supplement, I used to use the Biosil liquid. Other than my mostly organic plant based diet, which may or may not be high in silica, I am still researching and learning about this mineral. I am hoping that bamboo is a good source, but the moment I learn it has it's problems, I will have to possibly reconsider its use. Some researchers like Ray Peat don't think people should supplement with silica.

    Kind of ironic to have honey listed as a superfood when it's practically all fructose which causes fatty liver disease.

      I'm really starting to think that honey really is different from all the other sugars because they found some in pots in I forget if it was Egypt or China but it was thousands of years old and it still was as good as fresh

      @@gardensofthegods It's not quite so simple. Sure, there are situations in which you would want to eat sugary things for health, such as if you were a bodybuilder. And then, sure, the kind of sugar you eat matters. Fructose ≠ Glucose ≠ Lactose. They behave differently, and you may have more success with a different ratio of each. Neither is inherently "bad" per se.
      But the real reason people talk about "bad fats" and "bad sugars" has less to do with the _actual thing,_ and more to do with the things that come with it. People consider fructose healthy, for instance, because it's associated with fruit. And fruits is associated with water soluble vitamins, fibre and electrolytes, all of which remedy dramatic fluctuations in blood sugar and body chemistry as a result of ingesting something toxic or simply eating too much of something. Same with fats. The foods you deem good or bad all contain essentially the same kinds of fats. There are some special fatty acids you can only get here and there, but for the most part the only difference between them is in the amounts. And as it was never proven, the reason saturated fat, for instance, is antagonised, has to do with it being associated with meat, which in the context of a vegan economic agenda has been officially defined as a negative.
      As for honey, it's essentially just a dessert syrup with trace amounts of proteins from plant pollen and dead bees. Whether that is a net benefit for you depends entirely on context. I would be wary of eating anything that has stayed around for thousands of years without being consumed by some living organism. If thousands of years of microorganisms have decided based on evolutionary mechanisms that the food in question is inedible, and left it alone, eating it is probably a bad idea for humans too.

      Why shops here selling it as pest killer? Diatomaceous Earth causes insects to dry out and die by absorbing the oils and fats from the cuticle of the insect's exoskeleton. Its sharp edges are abrasive, speeding up the process. It remains effective as long as it is kept dry and undisturbed.
