    "Whenever bacon will make it better." Well, Blackie, that is damn near everything! The water in the bottom, to prevent burning, is brilliant.

    Than you for this Blackie. Great video. I’d like to echo the requests of at least a couple of other viewers about building the confidence to camp out at night. It’s easy to do all this cool stuff during the day, but man it’s so true that the woods are a whole different place when the sun goes down. What sounds should one expect to hear at night? How do you keep the camp safe and secure from critters etc when all are asleep? I’m not faint of heart, but I certainly understand the viewer whose entire group got spooked at night and had to pack up. Many more people would enjoy this endeavor if we could just learn to cope with the night and not-hate to admit-be scared of the dark. Thank you for all you do.

    Thank you so much for your time and efforts to those of us that have to learn from others.I don't have the dirt time that would like to have and these lessons help folks like myself make the most of the time we do have!I know this is a bit off topic,I have a chance to pick up a spiller and burr revolver fairly cheap.they are brass framed but they are a full frame.if you know anything about them,any comments on it would be greatly appreciated.take care and God bless.

      @@blackoracle69 thank you!!I only plan to run at most an 18 gain load.I figure that should be more than enough should target practice learning the basics and some small and medium game with good shot placement. I watched you entire revolver series and the brass frame worried me some.

    Great tip, bacon fat is very versatile when camping. I haven't tried cooking fish in it, but will give it a shot! Thank you for such great content.

    Another great video Blackie. A quick question, what's the big difference in a Bush pot and a canteen cup, provided you've got a lid? Oh, and it's a little bit bigger (key word little)...

    • @blackoracle69
      @blackoracle69  Před 5 lety +3

      bushpots are usually able to hang over a fire..a canteen cup may be used to cook bacon in this way but it will need to be in smaller batches..i find the canteen cup about right for me along and a bushpot a better choice for a group camp

    At the risk of sounding sappy... I remember mama... I remember her doing this and straining the bacon grease into an old coffee can that sat on the back of the stove to cook with pie pans and, cake pans were greased, cast iron skillets greased for corn bread and bacon crumbled to put on top just before going in the oven, eggs fried, omelets made fried corn meal mush, fried grits,,, if it was fried it was in bacon grease ... and then there was the wilted lettuce salads along with wilted spinach... All made more delicious with the bacon grease... its a wonder that our artery's weren't clogged up
