Yeah, my family was living back in Sydney then. We'd moved up into the Blue Mountains by Christmas 1973 and came down to the Big Smoke to check out Grace Brothers windows.
Great memories, back in the era when made in Australia meant something, folks were proud to work in manufacturing. The population was mainly trim no tats ,piecing, no lip fillers, mobile phones or internet and people lived a more simple life.
I like your videos mate they bring back memories of the days I love of my life I can name most streets in these Sydney videos my dad use to take me into city and we walked in and for miles every weekend , now they are just a memory for me...thanks for sharing
When Sydney was a great place to live before those who hate our way of life turned up now we live on the fringes or just plain got the hell out love the vibe and memories of that time.
Oh forsure its fantastic...this stuff was before my time so it is most fascinating viewing this sort of stuff n seeing how people got by in those days😊😊 theres also many other videos of Sydney in the 60s n 70s which feature similar stuff to yours as well as Sydney harbour n the manly ferries..iam sure u have checked this out already🤔🤔 thanks again😊😊
Thanks I have never seen Sydney CBD footage from this era. Funny enough there seems to be more people on the streets with less high rise office towers than there is today. Remember QVB was an abandoned building in this era I believe. The MLC centre was Hotel Australia or it had just been demolished to make way for the MLC centre. ABC radio occupied the site of the Park Royal hotel and the Hilton Hotel was under construction. The first personal computer was introduced in 1975 but wasn't commonplace until 1981 so I guess there is less typists after that point. I like the diversity of bus types and liveries like the Leyland Leopards etc and those yellow traffic light poles in Martin Place look cool.
In 73 ABC radio 2JJ studios was yet to established and located on corner of William & Forbes St. [entrance near Chard Stairs] but, was another ABC radio studio in Sydney at the time... spent time there... building still there. Around Lower Forbes Street was interesting place, little documentation of the narrow streets and terrace houses occupied by the poor people of Wooloomooloo. Any remains now? Red Rattler trains from Cronulla to city.. That smell of burning asbestos brakes on those trains is unforgettable. Much of Sydney heritage building would have been lost to greedy rapacious developers, had it not been for the actions of Jack Mundey and the BLF around this time. Lest we forget those Green Ban battles.

Thanks for sharing n u have done a great job slowing the footage down from your previous video🤔🤔well done😊😊
Thanks for noticing! Also it's a bit more higher definition. Which I never thought possible from something I filmed so long ago.

No, it's not the Easybeats. This version is a Stevie Wright Solo effort.
