They got the name from a movie theatre across the road from their rehearsal room, 'Black Sabbath' was a movie made by the Hammer House of Horror company and it was playing at the time, they saw the name and it stuck, probably better than 'Earth' which was the bands earlier name.

He sounds exactly the same as he is now, sure almost 30 years of drugs really rotted it, but now you can still hear his current voice in that one.
