It's just magic, the way Lili is entranced into the puppet world, as real as the one she'll step back into
I especially love how, at the very end of the scene, Mel Ferrer looks at the puppet and nods his approval.
An excellent film with an excellent cast. Music is truly wonderful. Unforgettable!
This was the first movie I watched in my life and it's still in the best space of my heart, where it will remain forever!❤️
È un film da vero meraviglioso! Saluti dall'Argentina!🇦🇷
Oh, how nice!
It was a "family classic" at home. We all sit together to watch it when it was in television. I still watch it from time to time. Needless to say I always cry like a baby.
One of the first movies I ever saw as a child. What great memories of Mom and Dad. Thank you for the walk down memory lane.
There is beauty in simplicity.
The beginning of the scene is missing unfortunately. Lily, a childish woman all alone, was about to commit suicide. And Paul uses his puppets to keep her attention and save her life. And then he, who is always dark and upset, finds a way to express his tenderness to someone, through his puppet...
It was based on the novelette "Love of seven Dolls" by Paul Gallico. The opening line is "In Paris in the spring of our times, a young girl was about to throw herself into the Seine." It is a very moving story, of abuse and redemption, and the enduring power of love. Well worth a read, if you enjoyed the movie it fleshes out the characters, and especially the puppets, into each of which the puppeteer has buried a part of his personality, for safekeeping, so to speak.
Yes, that is!
Greetings from Argentina!🇦🇷
Love this movie! Leslie Caron is lovely! 👒🌷🦋
This film,"Lili",has, over the years, become a Children's Classic like "The Wizard Of Oz".Even the famous Cynic,H.L.Menkin,liked this movie.
Such a lovely film, and this is still my favorite moment.
Magical.
Maravillosa escena grandiosa !!
Preciosa escena y canción!
Beautiful, magic movie !!!
Reading the biography of director Charles Walters and was reminded of seeing this film at home as a much heralded special presentation as a child. To read about what a hit the film was (with one film house in NYC negotiating an exclusive deal for playing it) was really impressive.
She is a great dancer
A classic in the puppetry world
I loved the film bu t always been frightened by the puppets :D
Yes they are creepy.
Ich liebe diesen Film ❤
Absolutely charming.
I came here because of a poet. A poet created by Sezai Karakoç. And the poet's name is Liliyar( Lililove). This poet shoot me on my heart.

Me llamo Lili por ésta película, q mi la mamá amó . Me cortaba el cabello igual . Y esperaba q fuera bailarina . Hoy, despues de muchos años, puedo comenzar con ese anhelo de bailar . Estoy feliz y agradecida
Saludos
I saw this film when I was nine. I still remember how depressing it was. My Mother and l left the cinema in silence, and never talked about it.Maudlin is the word that comes to mind.....
I know I was disgusted because the man who is supposed to be in love with her slaps her face at one time. Violence is not love.
Why did you find it depressing? I saw it years ago but don't remember the ending.
Exactly. He’s 30 years older than her, she’s literally 16, he hits her and treats her like crap and can only be nice to her when he’s pretending to be child-friendly puppets. And what does she do? Run right back to him. This poor girl is guaranteed a lifetime of toxicity and misery.
@@12classics39 Oh, yes. And it is very sad reading that some people comment: "It was the first movie I ever saw in my life", "My mother took me to the movies when I was five", and so. This is a movie for adults, not for children. And it is a very sad film. Poor girl.
Excelente.
exelent
Is a DVD/ Bluray available?!

The voice of miss piggy
Marguerite sounds like Miss Piggy
Dónde puedo verla??? Por favor
Cuando estaba en el colegio me decían que me parecía a Leslie Caron
Great movie! But creepy puppets indeed!😱😨
Bu kuklaların kukla olmadığı besbelli
...
Sezai Karakoç 🙏🏻
Sezaı Karakoçun şiir yazdığı, mükemmel bir film
Public for the little ones...prive...pour mes aimees..and appnr tres chere
This is one of the most disturbing films ever because this 16-year-old girl ends up with this 30-something guy who verbally abuses her and can only act softly when he's pretending to be hand puppets so that she can "fix" him. How is this romantic? The ending is one of the saddest I've ever seen because she's throwing herself into what is guaranteed to be a toxic and miserable relationship - and yet it's played as happy.
Que ganas de complicar las cosas...es solo un cuento, maravilloso.....siempre buscando el lado negativo hoy en día...que pena.
Leslie Caron is lovely, but the puppets don't make sense to me. They are supposed to be glove puppets operated by a single operator. As I understand it they never have moving mouths and certainly not closing eyes. The whole point of the scene as written by Gallico is, correctly, to do with illusion and the magic of the imagination. Love of Seven Dolls is one of my all time favourite books.
pourquoi parle t elle en anglais dommage
