This is like a work uniform for public appearances. Duchess Catherine has been pictured at casual occasions wearing jeans. It’s no biggie... just a tradition.. chill people.

As a teen in the 60's, we wore gloves to graduation teas, proms, weddings and church.
I also agree with the rules. It not only keeps every one looking with class, but also sets a very nice, and high standard tradition, that we all could use an example for. Kate has kept an excellent example of what a royal should look like and act like. For this, she is highly admired and respected. Keep up the excellent image for us Kate. You are wonderful and refreshing.

Such simple style rules really, and some offices have some of the same. Absolutely no reason for Meghan to rebel against them so early in her royal foray. All she's proven in that rebellious streak is her utter silliness. Look at some of her garment choices e.g. that ill-fitting green dress with the cape and green bowl hat she wore March 2020 for Commonwealth Day, just ridiculous on her, that creepy non-stop smile and her face looked swollen, horrors! And that was Meghan's choice, nobody made her wear that.

I have no issue with those rules... I guess I don't see anything wrong with being reserved or refined. Many of these "guidelines" had (at one time) been in practice for job interviews here in the US. I have much respect for Her Majesty The Queen of England, the Royal Family and the Monarchy.

Abiding by strict rules is just fine. With great "influence" comes great responsibility. Love the Queen and the Cambridges the most.
The beauty protocol is followed for many reasons... and so those of us who don’t deal with meeting and greeting thousands of people, nor do we have endless photographers catching & snapping our every move, nor do we have to be on our feet for hours upon hours graciously making polite talk... I’d leave the rules to the Royals. Much of the protocols are just good manners and good grooming. Women wearing stockings and girls wearing tights or socks have the purpose of protecting their feet and ankles from forming blisters as well as providing extra foot & leg comfort. They provide a finished look which is the prescribed uniform appearance. Why should they reduce themselves to low or no standards?
I don’t care for MM breaking protocol as it shows a rebellious and disrespectful spirit, and believe MM should put others before herself. I don’t find any problem with the Royal protocols. They are delightful and admirable.
One doesn’t have to be rich to have good grooming, good manners, and to behave graciously, and not think more highly of oneself than he/she ought to.

The no colors or pale nail colors is most definitely NOT a rule, just an urban legend. Most of these rules, except the use of tiaras are not due hard rules. But they are high society best practices. They make it easier to survive hours & hours of engagement durations.

These are not rules. They are suggestions to maintain a professional appearance. Royal women tend to wear natural looking nail polish in case of chipping during the day since they greet so many people and shake a lot of hands. It is more obvious when colorful nails chip. Same with lipstick, natural looking shades are not as noticeable if they start to feather outside of the lipline.

It certainly isn’t. Etiquette states that one leaves for the ladies room. Modernity is setting in. With all due respect, HRM never would have done this even ten years ago. She likes to let her hair down in her private life, but it’s troubling when it creeps into formal occasions. I think she’s past caring. Many would not blame her. She has been through so much in her life. She’s such a brilliant person. I love her with all my heart. I simply don’t always agree with what she does.

I adore Kate Middleton. Kate's family was reserved and functioned as a couple. Its a job and truly an agreement when a couple select to marry and have a family. I was raised certain things one doesn't say on the streets and one doesn't share their stuff to public. Its having respect for one another. Very blessed to have been brought up to be a lady and soon our next princess. Very well conducted and looks astonishing.
Dear, dont elevate Kate's family to sainthood. They had just as many problems as any other family. Plus they had the equal of Samantha in Kate's uncle, her mother's brother, who is a drunk, wife beater, and in and out of jail, brandishing guns at his wife. No family is perfect.

Most of the pictures of Megan are before her wedding so she was not required to follow the rules as much. Also since Megan is married to Prince Harry, who is several steps away from the throne and will probably never be king, things are a bit more relaxed for her.

I also wish gloves would come back! I grew up wearing gloves. In summer we wore little short ones, in winter nicely fur lined ones and over the elbow ones for formal occasions. I remember one ball I went to, for the navy, where the Admiral directed all the ladies to put their own and their partners gloves in their suspender belt ..... Lots of laughs but every one obeyed.
