  • How to Ombre a tutu. Step by step video on how I Ombre a tutu. I use Oasis Flower spray as it less toxic and gives a great coverage. This Ombre is from the waist, but you can also the edges. I will upload another video on this in a few weeks so watch this space. Happy watching :-)))
    Points to remember:
    1. Start from layer 4 if you only want the colour visible from the top side of the tutu.
    2. Tie up the layers with a knotted elastic, its a bit of a fight with the layers so bear with it :-D
    3. Start as close to the waist and work your way out.
    4. Do long continuous sprays, as this reduces splattering.
    5.Build up the layers in thin sprays, you can always go back over if you want a deeper colour.
    6. Repeat the process on the next layer above.
    7. Remember to cover your body form as you don't want to get spray onto it. I forgot to put it on at the beginning in the video ;-P
    Any questions let me know, thanks for watching

    This looks great! Do you think this works for applying a lighter color over dark? We have a royal blue tutu that needs to be or hid or lavendar

      Hi Joni, I think you would struggle, its harder to lighter on a darker colour, the only thing i can think of is spraying white onto the blue net and see how that turns out. Also, spraying a light pink may work but it will give a darker purple rather than lavender. Let me know how you get on.

    Does the color rub off of the band of the tutu onto the leotard or costume?

      Hi Jenna, no I haven't found that it comes off with the florist spray, you can heat set it by using a hairdryer if your worried 😊

    Where did you get the body form from please?

      Just of eBay, type in inflatable torso. I just find it useful to add a form when I spray the nets when on the knicker.

    Can we use any kind of spray paint

    • @ktmcostumes8761

      I use florist spray, it is acrylic based and better to use on costumes where they are worn close to the skin.

    hey due to spray on tulle does it hard the tulle ???

    • @ktmcostumes8761
      @ktmcostumes8761  Před 5 lety +1

      I have n't found that it hardens the tulle as florist spray is nt as dense as other spray paint. Obviously the more layers of spray you add the more likely it will. I would always recommend doing test pieces.

      Florist spray it what I use, I only use acrylic base sprays as they are not as toxic as the other coloured sprays.

    Will it stay as it is after wash ?

    • @ktmcostumes8761
      @ktmcostumes8761  Před 4 lety

      I have nt had any problem with the dye coming off with spot cleaning, but I would n't recommend washing a tutu base as this can reduce the stiffness of the net. If you are washing the net I would only recommend a cold hand wash as the dye will gradually fade the more you wash it.
