A very good list of courses in Thailand, and I have personnaly played the 3 courses mentioned in Hua Hin area where I have a condo, and also played Laem Chabang. Golf in Thailand is wonderful having wonderful scenery and lovely caddies makes it a great experience.

I've played 104 different courses in Thailand, mostly between 2004 and 2007, to wit: before a lot of the courses on your bucket list came into existence. I am pleased to say NOT ONE of the 104 courses I played were on your list! So glad. Now I know when I go back and play my own favorite from my list of 104 courses, no one (except Thais) will be there to get in the way. Well almost; Koreans were everywhere BITD and I suspect that's still true. And I got to the courses using the cheapest available public transportation, like the trains, local buses, sangthaeo and motorci taxis. Had a blast.

I have played 4 of those courses. Laem Chabang is my favourite. I've parred all 3 nines from the tees I use. Sadly not together for a great round. 76 my best. The Old Course is sadly ruined by slow play, last time I was there it was 5 and half hours. The greens are just too hard for high handicaps and it slows things down. Red Mountain is wonderful but again a little too difficult for high handicappers. I played Chee Chan a couple of months after it opened. The experience was spoiled by sanded greens. Couldn't get mid irons to stop.

While Thai courses are stunning and fun to play… I couldn’t handle the heat. One course in Pattaya, didn’t offer water beyond the 9th hole and I actually got heat stroke. I sweat so much, I had problems holding the club properly. I may go back again to retire in a few years, and I’m not sure I’ll bring my clubs, because of the heat.

Firstly when are foreigners going to learn to pronounce Pattaya correctly. the correct pronunciation is Patt a yar NOT Patt ay a It's a short a sound in the middle and a long a sound to finish. Secondly I have played 1/2 of the courses mentioned and will add Chee Chan to the list next month. The remaining courses, especially those mentioned for Bangkok are far too expensive for the average golfing tourist to even consider. There are numerous courses in Thailand equally as good as those mentioned and more affordable. I guarantee if you included the price for green fee, caddy & cart most golfers would give them a big miss. As a long term Thai resident, living in Chaing Mai Province, I get the benefit of something that most provinces do not offer at their golf courses, especially those down south, and that is the opportunity to pay the same rates as Thais rather than the inflated rates for foreigners visiting as tourists.
