Mr Porta, I just wanted to tell you that I used what I learned in this video to make the most beautiful drumstick for a friend. I adapted your instructions to make a beater for a small frame drum. What are the pattern dimensions for the leather covers of the handle and head?

the measurements of the leather for the head and handle would be great, i'm about to make some drum sticks for when pow wow is back on :)
total length is 22 inches. handle is 7", head is 5 1/2 inches. diameter of head and handle is approximately 1 1/8 inch. hope this helps--- good luck.

Do you have a template of the leather for the head of the drumstick? Even the dimensions might help cut the leather appropriately. Thia video is amazing!

Is it alright using a stick from the Bush? Like will it last long?,
most use the fiberglass rods--- they never break. However a good hickory stick is very tough.
Looks like you also have arthritis in your fingers, like me. How is it going? Are you still able to do most things?
no arthritis, just a broken finger.
What kind of leather do you use
I used bison rawhide, you can use any thick hide--- cow, horse elk, moose, just as long as it is rawhide.
What size is the leather cover, no info on video on that
you need 4 to 6 inches larger than the diameter of the drum frame. when the skin is wet it will stretch and be even larger.
